Rosen Allen Analysis on NFL Network
Da webster guy replied to The Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I actually laughed out loud at that one TD pass they showed Rosen throwing. It was this massive pocket with nobody in front of him and his receiver coming across the middle open. Honestly looked like a training camp drill with 11 on 7. High school qb makes that throw -
I have always thought Ducasse had blackmail pictures of Juan Castillo. Never understood the love that Juan has had for the guy, I can only assume he pushed for Beane to acquire him and feels he has a stake in the guy. Why doesn't Terry pick up a McNally type guy as a consultant for the Oline to help us make sense of all this?

My buddy said the same thing about the game looking Rex iSH. And it looked a little MarroneISH with the no challenge on flag on the 3rd down dive. May have been overturned, but either way, what a perfect time to take a few minutes and set up a 4th down play to get that last foot or so. Would have changed things drastically.

Bills will start 2-0 if Allen is the Starter
Da webster guy replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on Oline and our LB's. Worried about both, can't win without strong showings from both units. Balt runners Collins and Dixon are no joke. Better than what Cleveland threw at us. We can't have our Dbacks tackling these guys all game or we're gonna have injuries and lose the game to boot. -
Be careful what you say about Bodine. I started a thread about Allen to Streater TD pass where Bodine went flat footed and didn't play to the whistle which almost got Josh a shot after the throw and people bit my head off then the thread got removed. Not kidding. He was literally standing there looking back at his qb while he threw the ball. As a 30 year coach it stood out as undisciplined and lazy, keeping in mind many qb's take shots slightly after the ball is released so you need to protect to the whistle, the play isn't just about the first guy you block (which he did well), it's also about blocking to whistle and not letting anyone take a late shot or roll up on your qb (which he did poorly) Anyway it's a sensitive subject with some people, but suffice to say Groy lost a lot of reps to Bodine so he's still got some work ahead of him. He's got Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins in the middle on Sunday they're not slugs.

NFL Sunday Ticket without DirecTV
Da webster guy replied to Richmond_Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
https://nflst.directv.com/ROKU Yes. After you fire up his Roku you're going to want to download a bunch of channels apps. Look for DirectvNow and download that channel app for him. It will ask you username and password for your DTV account and you're good to go. Inside that app you will see the NFL Sunday Ticket channel. If you have any other pay channels on your own DTV account, do the same thing (HBOnow etc). Also make sure he's got a Netflix username password (Netflix is already downloaded for you, just have to enter your sign in stuff). You should also download local channel apps. They'll all use your dtv sign in. Do it once and you're set. There's actually a netflix button on the Roku remote, the old folks love it. -
NFL Sunday Ticket without DirecTV
Da webster guy replied to Richmond_Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lots of ways to get it, just have to be creative. Remember your supposed "install address" and your billing address can be different locations. Same way we all got around blackouts for all those years. Just pick an install address at one of the universities or any local condo or apartment complex that doesn't allow DTV dishes and you're in. Took me 5 minutes to find an address using whitepages.com. Here's a list. www.nflsundayticket.tv -
NFL Sunday Ticket without DirecTV
Da webster guy replied to Richmond_Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Roku allows you three separate devices on one account. So I would get him a Roku, and then indicate you're a DTV subscriber on the setup and it should give you NFL ticket without you having to pay Roku the $200 for the NFL ticket. Another option, which I just did, is to cancel directv ripoff and save yourself a few grand per year, get a roku and sign up for Sling TV (full package $40 per month gives you tons of channels) and the NFL ticket which will cost you $200 as mentioned. You can buy a second roku for your dad, register it under your account (you can have up to three on one account) and bring it over to his place. These new Roku remote controls are awesome, work a thousand times better than the stupid apple tv or firestick crap remotes, and I like it as much as my old genie remote which is the gold standard. Now he basically has free tv, netflix, locals, and of course the NFL ticket. You could do that on one more account and maybe split the NFL ticket cost with your buddy or something. This streaming stuff is basically like the old days when you could register 5 directv receivers to one house and then split the bill 5 ways with your family and friends and everyone gets loaded TV for a few hundie a year. But even if you don't get a third Roku, you'd still be saving money AND hooking up your old man nicely, and that goes a long way when you get to the pearly gates I'm told. For those of you who think the big corp's deserve more money...flame away -
Palmer was also the guy who was laughing at the supposed 60% and up completion percentage standard for doing well in the NFL. He said Allen played two years and threw 650 balls and here's Josh Rosen throwing twice as many over a three year college career (his junior year was a sub 60% btw) in a completely different system, the few percentage points difference becomes statistically insignificant when you look at every throw and grade them out, which he did for all five top qb's. He likened it to saying the RB who has the highest yards per carry average is almost NEVER the most talented running back, because of the variables (Oline, strength of passing game, strength of schedule, running into a stacked box etc) Well, either way, like all things in the NFL, we'll know for sure about Allen someday..............

The Bills Are Seven Point Dogs in Week 1
Da webster guy replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that was pretty bad. Made me miss...(gulp) Preston Brown. And Collins/Dixon are both beasts. We might get steamrolled on the ground if our LB's dont tune up. On the other hand, Balt Dline is mediocre, they're just great ball hawkers on the backside. Daboll will have an innovative plan, and we can run on them too. It's why I like Josh Allen to start, because Shady and Ivory will be softening them up until they stack the box, then we let the kid sling a few.... -
Yeah, after watching hard knocks and then seeing McD lead his team, it's hard to think Hue isn't over his head. Passing the buck on Coleman asking him why he wasn't starting was a huge mistake by Hue. Unbelievable to me. "Ask Todd Haley (the OC) he said" McD would have seen the teachable moment, sat him down and said "well Corey, tell me why you think he's got you running with the two's" "What can you do better" "Are you willing to work even harder to be a starter, because it's going to take more from you. Are you up for the challenge?" blah blah. huge opportunity to motivate a player that frankly could fill the Goodwin role for Tyrod, which came in handy a few times for some huge TD's. Instead he's gone and they have nothing for him except a small amount more cap space. Bad leadership.

Honestly, if they would have gone Saquon and Chubb at 1 and 4, and got Teddy Bridgewater in the offseason with a new young head coach instead of Hue, the Browns would be a freaking powerhouse. People forget Teddy had 3,200 passing yards and a nice 65% completion percentage an only 9 picks in his Blair Walsh Killed playoff run season. He still has a big upside and has been showing it in camp. Instead they have one less 3rd round pick from Tyrod trade, a pretty weak HC, and a qb who has a proven ceiling. They say Dorsey knows what he's doing, but I dunno man

Sorry I'm not going to link it here because Im too mad, but watching Bodine simply stop blocking for our rookie qb on what ended up being the Streater touchdown throw could have gotten Josh killed. Guys are bearing down on your qb, there has been no whistle, and you just decide its ok to quit on the play. What is wrong with this guy?

Common Sense QB Progression 4 Preseason
Da webster guy replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only thing we know now for certain is that there are still a bunch of variables in the decision to start Allen that have to play out first: 1. How is our Oline with it's new coach, new faces and new system going to play. At this point I would say the arrow is pointing up a little more than I'd thought, but we won't know until Baltimore. If our pass protection is weak, this will impact McD's decision. 2. How is our AJ/Peterman starter doing? If they're playing adequate ball, the kid gets to sit on the bench and learn the complexities of the NFL qb job. He's still a trainee after all. 3. How will our WR's do this year? We have an injury prone WR1 and a bunch of mediocrity after that. Can our wideouts and TE's get separation and play at a high enough level to help a rookie kid have some consistency? If it's another revolving door like last year, this will work against the kid. 4. How is Josh processing and learning offensive and defensive game plans? He still hasn't seen one in his entire life yet. We know he can throw, elude, climb the pocket and seems to have a knack for sensing pressure. To me that's the unteachable and all I wanted to see against Carolina. I think we'll see #17 get his first start against the Bears mid season here in Buffalo. -
I watched all the throws today. there were very few handoffs, it was a soft practice for sure, but my biggest takeaway was that Allen's passes are distinctly different than AJ/Peterman. I don't mean because of the zip, although Peterman's passes seemed to have very little of that-- I mean his release point is a full foot higher than the other guys and he has such good rotation that he doesn't need to throw rainbows because he's almost throwing down. The angle and trajectory are noticeably different because of this. It took me awhile to realize what it was, and i'm not sure it shows up on the television, but he really does sling a significantly different ball than the other throwers. I think that's why he struggles a little with the short touch pass, because he literally throws straight out and down instead of a soft air pass like Peterman or Tyrod. The best example was one of his last throws of the day in the left flat to RayRay, he didn't have much separation, and the safety was coming over hard, but he was able to put it just over the corner, similar to that pass to TE Khari Lee (?) on that pressured rollout in the Carolina game. It was 25 yards downfield but the cover guy couldn't really turn around in time so the ball got through to the receiver even though it really shouldn't have. Ray actually dropped the ball even though it hit him in the hands and I think it was because he didn't think the ball would get to him. I was surprised he threw it all all. It wasn't a Nolan Ryan zing like his TD pass last week, just a typical Josh toss, but I'll bet that's a pick if AJ or Peterman throw that same ball. I don't know. I remember Elway having a distinct advantage as a passer because in a lot of situations corners couldn't get their head around in time and the ball is by them already. And for the first time I realized that being big and tall might have more advantages than just the ability to see over your line, shed tacklers and have less batted balls--having a higher release point, in his case anyway, seems to translate to a better throw-- harder to defend because it's flatter, tougher to track maybe. He's done it a bunch of times. I'm probably not describing it well enough but there is something to this. I keep thinking tall receivers make sense for this kid, that Holmes and KB should be the 1/2 and we keep using 2 TE sets. Let Kerley, Zay and Coleman fill in the rest, but for my base offense I'm going with the big fellas. Allen really might be one of those guys that actually throws his guys open and we need possession/jump ballers out there to take advantage of his throwing style.

Is see Coleman as another Goodwin. Most of these speed guys are the same: they get hurt fairly regularly, usually don't have great hands, and only get a few targets per week, but they're a necessary part of any decent aerial attack and can be game changers. My favorite way to play these guys is have them do 5 deep Go Routes in a row, and then do a little comeback or curl route like 10 yards, or as soon as the corner seems to be turning his hips. Gets huge separation.

Never thought about the practice reps factor. Otherwise keeping three makes perfect sense. Cheap insurance from having to play #17 before he's ready.

Sam Darnold Dazzles In Debut

My fear is that Teddy Bridge is going to elevate his game even more. He is the threat as far as I can see. -
Can we afford to carry 3 active QB’s all season?
Da webster guy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Im convinced our run game will still be very good and that the Oline will be a pleasant surprise in that regard. We'll have a similar offensive production as last year, with Allen in the bench and the Oline learning to pass protect a little better each week. My prediction is that week 8 game against the Bears here in Buffalo will be Allens first crack as a starter, unless we have the good fortune to have McCarron playing well. -
Ravens playing tonight what are you watching for
Da webster guy replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have challenges on both Oline and Dline, On opening day I think you'll see both offensive lines struggle in protection, but Bills run blocking is going to be just as good as last year assuming Bodine or Groy can do their part in the middle. The advantage is our Dline is going to be nasty and we have The Freak rookie in the middle LB spot wreaking havoc. Can't underestimate RB Dixon if he is back 100% he is wayyyy underrated and I think will have beaten out Collins by then. But again, if we can shut down Fournette in his home stadium in a playoff game, we can beat up anybody. -
Difference again between Pats and Bills
Da webster guy replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude I can't forget that play. I still reference it as one of the laziest stupidest plays by a Bills player ever. Very well could have cost us the game. Hey I know Jalen Ramsey is a great cover guy, but you make your best move on him, use your 40lbs and 4 inch advantage LEGALLY and Tyrod puts the throw where only you can catch it. Probably out of bounds and uncatchable, but it's FIRST FREAKING DOWN and goal to go at the 2 yardline. You have two more chances to pound it through. Instead Benjamin blatantly pushes off and we get backed up on the most important drive we've had in 17 years. I still maintain that if Beane knew we would go into the playoffs he would have retained Sammy. With the chemistry he had with Tyrod, that's a guaranteed touchdown even if it's it's Ramsey covering you. .
