Don't think "WR2" in the upcoming draft. Think WR1.
Da webster guy replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Top 5 NFL offense averaging over 30pts a week for 3 years now. Laid a 10 pt egg at home vs Bengals, is everyone now saying that the primary reason was our receivers weren't skilled enough to get separation? Because from my perspective our guards and tackles were the ones who weren't skilled enough to stop the Bengals average Dline in pass pro AND run game, and our Dline sorely missed DaQuon and an impactful edge rusher. That and our QB had some issues seeing the underneath stuff. Our receivers are just as good as either team that played in the Superbowl. They each had one stud in Kelce and AJ but that's about it. The Bengals have the best trio of pass catchers in the league and they got held to 20 by a mediocre KC defense because they couldn't win the trench battle. Its all about the big boy play. Keep adding to the trenches, get big nasty agile athletes in there. The fact that we've been doing that with limited success in recent years is all the more reason to keep at it until we get it right. -
Who's our slot WR in 2023, Shakir or...?
Da webster guy replied to Nephilim17's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I've said this before but the two guys that had the best training camp as pass catchers were Crowder and Morris at TE/Hback. Crowder was limited with that injury but when he was cleared to practice the dude looked like the #1 WR that he was in the past. Honestly Morris with another year can be a huge weapon too if you notice he can fly and catch. I think a lot of the concern about targets isn't that we need another guy, we just need our guys to be healthy and ready to go, and we need Dorsey to get real serious with Josh in the offseason and study the film which will help Josh look to other guys like Shakir, Cook (our only big play YAC guy who never gets thrown to for some reason) etc. We score an average of 30 points a game for 3 years now, and even though we sucked vs Cinci with a lame 10pt effort, I don't think the film will show it was from WR's not getting separation. It's going to be trench players AGAIN being the weak link on both sides of the ball, and a rookie OC who probably was in over his head trying to live up to Daboll's gamecalling success. -
I agree but I would ride with Dorsey another year. We scored second highest points in the NFL, he was a rookie coach, give him 1 offseason and year 2 to upgrade his system.

Its just like stock pickers or gamblers: in reality you have no clue, but you think you do because in many cases in the past you've been correct, which emboldens you to think you know better. A lot of those chumps were saying how Brady in playoff mode is gonna crush Dallas and how the Chargers were gonna whip the Jags. No clue. just flippin coins.

How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Da webster guy replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
And our Oline was opening holes. Thats always the first thing I watch early on, how are we handling them upfront, because it usually tells you who has the better chance. If Cook/Motor are slashing them for 7 yds a carry it generally means we're enroute to a 35 point game, which is good because they'll score a bunch on us too. Vegas spread is 5 pts, seems a little generous to me but overall I'm glad we finally face off again to settle the score. In other news, our home crowd needs a tune up. Tons of people making zero noise when Fins were snapping the ball but then being loud after we score. Cmon people lets not act like Miami fans. -
Seems like Lamar is really a standup guy though, and I don't think he gets enough credit for his character and desire to win. He got paid 23M bucks this year to play like a dozen games, its not like making $2M a game is being drastically underpaid. Yes he wanted a new deal, and he'll get it either in Balt or somewhere else (they won't franchise him, he'd sit and everyone loses) but I don't believe his sprain is healed enough for him to move around out there. They say it was a 4-6 weeker and he's at 4. He wouldn't fold up his tent and go home with all the guys that he loves wanting him to play, (and make another $46,500 per player if they advance, which is 10% of some players salaries) I believe the guy, he just cant be a good qb if he can't move well and he's still too injured to pull this off.

Bills WR Route Concepts in Our Offense
Da webster guy replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Both catch and the throw by Josh was hilariously good he was running as he launched that one. Eric Wood said the angle from the booth he was certain it was way past Smoke but that wily old speed demon somehow got his mitts on it AND controlled in on the ground slam which is just as hard as catching it in the first place. If you really think about that route, its one you might never see again, a deep cross/comeback/go route. Only a mobile qb can give a receiver the 5+ seconds it takes to pull that one off. The ability to buy 2 extra seconds for your targets to separate once in awhile has been the difference between a win and a loss for us several times. Mahomes was about to beat us doing just that before Von dropped him and ended the game in KC this year. -
Bills WR Route Concepts in Our Offense
Da webster guy replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
A lot of time defenses against Josh have a spy whose job is to take away that throw. It's probably the only thing you can really do as a spy without losing contain on #17, take away the short middle or tip the intermediate middle. -
The Chargers could have hired Daboll, instead Staley somehow convinced them he would be a good head coach. In my opinion this guy is currently THE worst coach in the league. I don't think his players trust him either. He has proven to be a weak game coach, and is tied for Belichick for the low energy award. Think about this guys roster, he has an elite QB, Ekeler is a top 5 RB, very good receivers and tons of talent on defense including Derwin, Bosa etc. If they hired Daboll, who wanted the job, they'd be right in there at the top of the power rankings. Not surprised this clown threw the oft injured Bosa AND Williams in a meaningless game despite both these guys needing rest badly battling injuries all year. Just brutal judgement again by Stale Nuts.

Steelers are so kind and considerate
Da webster guy replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Has to be intended as a positive nod to Damar, they obviously wouldnt be mocking or making light of what happened. Its stupid to try either way, and clearly in poor taste, but Tomlin would go ballistic if it was mockery. -
Yeah that Colts playoff game where we ended Philip Rivers career Gabe had a few insane game saving sideline grabs. I felt like he was a top 20 WR for sure after that game. Def leveled out and has struggled at times. Dropped a game winnee in Miami this year and Jets last play bounced off his facemask. Dropped a TD today. I dunno man, I think we let him play out his contract.

Can we just give cook the ***** ball?
Da webster guy replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
exactly. The film will show Josh n Dorsey some wide open underneath throws to Cook. These are high completion throws that Cook can turn into big gains. If you take away the picks and the Hines TD's today, Dorsey called a lukewarm game. I dont expect him to be Andy Reid but cmon man lets be sharper next week because we arent getting two 100 yard kickoff returns again. -
Imagine if we had Von and Jordan Phillips 100% healthy right now we would be a different team. Now we have to rely on guys like Epenesa to contribute and he just cant make an impactful play to save his life these days. I feel like we should move Rousseau around more vs Miami.

Yeah. And when he was healthy for them he was a force. Dude is the Sammy Watkins of DT's, if he was durable he'd be a legend. Yeah. And when he was healthy for them he was a force. Dude is the Sammy Watkins of DT's, if he was durable he'd be a legend.

Has Taron Johnson injury severity been diagnosed?
Da webster guy replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Especially the leg whip into Josh. There is an official standing there staring at an obvious cheapshot on a QB. The Hurst play was cheap but refs cant watch every block, they DO have a dedicated ref to watch late/low or otherwise illegal hits on the QB's though. After all the good Cinci has done since Damar went down, it's sad that a few of these guys are still out there playing cheap. You'd think the organization would have learned from Burfict and how he got their entire team labeled as thugs over the years with disgusting plays like that just intending to hurt. The only solution is the league has to allow challenges on unnecessary roughness plays that don't get called. Put the onus on the teams to watch their own guys from the booths and be able to have NY refs take a quick look and call penalties for stuff like that. Eventually it will be safer for the players because the cheapshotters won't get away with anything. -
Chris Simms says whoever Tre is covering will be open
Da webster guy replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well I guess we'll see if Simms is right. Mixon and Perine are kind of the same runner, both not very fast, strong but not game changers this season. He says Bills can't run on Cinci, I say there's a new sheriff in town named James MuthaF**kin Cook who seems to get better every week. This game will be likely be decided in the air and Tre will be exposed if Simms is correct. Groot has to go ballistic every snap, gotta get pressure with 4. -
When are week 18 game times going to be set?
Da webster guy replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hopefully. But it'll be at 4pm and still get out in the dark. Its frustrating. -

If Goodell isnt compassionate enough to see that a Buffalo night game is more dangerous with the sidewalks and roads loaded with snow, and that this city just had a storm that killed 40 members of this community then the league is more money hungry than I thought. Keep the stupid game at 1pm Roger you pasty faced puppet. You've already put us on a million night games, we lost a home game to another storm, try to do something right for a change. It's easier to see pedestrians in daylight, especially when there are 8 foot snowbanks. Obviously a Denver win over KC puts us in a sweet spot and then the league wouldn't flex the game anyway. They'll come out with a statement that says "we've decided in light of the recent events in Buffalo that it's safer to keep the game at 1pm" -
Mitch Morse Clears Concussion Protocol
Da webster guy replied to babulator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Eric Wood nicely implied that Bates did fine AND played through an-game injury, but that the line is operates much more smoothly with Mitch in there, esp on the road where he calls out assignments etc.
