McD is a motivator and a great leader, solid defensive mind. After that he's at the mercy of his OC. Interesting to note that the back shoulder throw to Brown and the long ball attempt to Foster were both plays that we had flags on and thought were free plays. As soon as Brown caught his pass I remember saying it's about time we started to take some chances on 3rd downs and push it downfield, then I heard Brown say after the game we thought it was a free play. Sheesh, can't we just take a few chances for our guys downfield to make some catches? McD and Daboll are surely aware that a vertical passing game is going to be required to win a playoff game. I hope to see us opening up the game a little more each week in preparation for a road playoff game where we're going to need to have intermediate and deep routes in play. Would there be anything safer than a back shoulder throw to big Duke on a 5'10 CB ? If he's not catching it nobody is....

Hats off to the Hammers Lot Tailgaters

Hammer please pass on a warm thanks to Mark and Pizza Pete. Tell Pete he's inspired a file cabinet pizza bake off amongst some UB students. (what could possibly go wrong?) -

Yeah they had a blast. The funny thing about the seat mix up is they actually had better seats than where they ended up sitting, but kept going up higher into the 300's and this one family was like "hey guys there are two seats here next to us you can sit here if you want" they ended up staying there the whole game. The last game he was at was the Colts snow game and they were wandering around at that game too, especially in the 2nd half when it was chaos. Kids. -

Yeah he's the kind of kid that will pay it forward for sure. -
Wanted to say thanks to whoever took care of my son and his roomate in the Hammers Lot on Sunday. he goes to school at UB and this was his first game going with just a buddy. They went in true teenage style: no gloves, just a hoodie, forgot to bring debit cards (had a little cash), basically zero planning, they just bought tickets late the night before and got up and drove to Orchard Park. They knew enough to go to Hammers Lot and watch the mustard/ketchup fly and walk around to meet people. My son called me this morning and before he talked about the game he said " Dad, there were the nicest people there tailgating, they hooked us up with free ribs which were amazing, and this guy Pizza Joe, he cooks these pizza's in a file cabinet, you can't believe it. And someone shared their wings with us, they had blue cheese in a paint roller tray blah blah...." He went on to tell me that they were kind of screwed up with their seat section and weren't in their ticketed seats up in the 300's but everyone was really helpful and cool and they ended up sitting with this nice family who made room for them etc. Anyway it made me really proud of the Buffalo fans and how great they are. Teenagers need more independence these days, and experiences like that help them to feel confident and get a sense of community that's hard to get sometimes. (it's also good that they froze their asses off when the sun wasn't out, so there's lesson #2). Hats off to the Mafia, thanks for representing.....

Jerry Hughes - $14 Mil - Why
Da webster guy replied to Socal-805's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He got paid in the offseason, and last year he was impactful. The good news is that he matured and stopped getting a personal foul every game. The bad news is he's lost a half step, but every team has players that are declining and overpaid for their contributions. He's a good locker room guy, works hard and still chases plays down from the backside. -
The problem with the Browns in a nut shell

Well luckily they have high-character Kareem Hunt back next week. He'll be sure to leverage his dynamic personality and track record of integrity and leadership to help things improve. -
Ed O A Pipe Dream or a Dream Team Position Change ?
Da webster guy replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see your point. They did move Ed around to the left side for a few snaps last game. Everyone is learning how to play together on that line, especially Ed. He's graded out pretty well this year so far, the one thing i was worried about was him not having enough anchor to play inside, we all know he's twitchy and quick. But he doesn't get steamrolled at all, even giving up 50lbs to the average NFL guard and being doubled frequently. One thing to consider: Levon Kirkland, the all-pro inside LB for the Steelers was exactly the same size as Ed, 6'1 280 ish. Ed's numbers at the combine were LB numbers, far faster and more agile than Kirkland ever was. Now I'm not proposing we put Ed in the middle LB position (imagine McD and Frasier laughing at that idea) however, in a short yardage packages, when Star and Jordan are inside, what if we put Ed as a backer, or even at edge as the OP proposed. Here you go Ed, this is your gap. Thump away. Anyway here is what scouts generally use a minimum measurable for ILB's. 40-yard dash: Minimum Target: 4.80 10-yard split: Minimum Target: 1.70 Vertical jump: Minimum Target: 33” Broad jump: Minimum Target: 9’6” 3 cone drill: Minimum Target: 7.20 20-yard shuttle: Minimum Target: 4.20 Bench press: Minimum Target: 24 Size-wise, Oliver is basically Aaron Donald. Donald at the 2014 combine: 6’1, 285 pounds Oliver at the 2019 combine: 6’1, 287 pounds In the 40-yard dash, Oliver is basically Arian Foster. Foster at the 2009 combine: 4.69 seconds Oliver at his pro day, reportedly: 4.73 seconds (Milano 4.67) In the bench press, Oliver is basically Ndamukong Suh. Suh at the 2010 combine: 32 reps Oliver at the 2019 combine: 32 reps In the shuttle run, Oliver is basically Le’Veon Bell. Bell at the 2013 combine: 4.25 seconds Oliver at his pro day, reportedly: 4.22 seconds In the three-cone drill, Oliver is basically Jason Pierre-Paul. Pierre-Paul at the 2010 combine: 7.18 seconds Oliver at his pro day, reportedly: 7.15 seconds In the vertical jump, Oliver is basically Von Miller. Miller at the 2011 combine: 37 inches Oliver at the 2019 combine: 36 inches In the broad jump, Oliver is J.J. Watt or Amari Cooper Watt at the 2011 combine: 120 inches Cooper at the 2015 combine: 120 inches Oliver at the 2019 combine: 120 inches So maybe there are some more creative ways to use the guy as a specialist. -
I love coach Sean as a leader and motivator. Glad we have him, but man he reminds me of that boss we've all probably had at one time or another who just spews corporate line after line without ever saying anything of substance or directly answering a question. I noticed this a few months ago and stopped listening to his interviews because they were identical.answers every week, even in camp when you'd think he would give SOME interesting insights on camp battles etc. I posted this because here's a quote I just saw in an article from him: “Because at the end of the day you have to score points and we haven’t scored enough points. We have to continue to find ways to score points.”’ Oh dear God coach, really?

Yeah Star is at least 310 and Jordan is 6'6 325lbs. For a 4-3 that's not little at all. Even though Ed is on the light side, he does very well at the point of attack. We aren't small, we just had poor gap control and got beaten by an Oline that is very good. -

Yeah the block on Milano unfortunately ended up screening Poyer a little bit or he makes that tackle easily. -
Week 9: Bills (-10.5) vs Redskins
Da webster guy replied to Cygnus99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are 28 teams in the league with 2 or more losses. We just joined that club today. Of the four remaining (3 of which are Brady, Brees and Rodgers) we can beat any of them on a given Sunday. We're gonna lose a few more folks. I think three more, and end up 11-5 which is awesome. Eagles are in the past, we're on to Cincinat--errrr Washington. -
The optimistic side of the loss...nothing lost
Da webster guy replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we had a world class special teams coach we wldve avoided that blocked punt TD and beaten the Pats. Or a head coach that knows how to call a timeout when he sees a play about to blow up in his face. -
One aspect of the game the Bills won
Da webster guy replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The downside to that is when the Eagles receive on the start of the 3rd quarter the seats are only half full and crowd noise is negligible. Its why teams on the road like to defer according to Tasker. -
How do we fix the run defense?
Da webster guy replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He didnt love Frank Gore enough today. 9 carries on the day, and only a few handoffs for Singletary. This is where we see a lack of head coach game experience with McD. He knows by halftime we are up against an offense with an Oline that's knocking us off the ball and protecting Wentz. It's a four point game and we're still in it, but its imperative that we dont keep going three and out on offense and handing it back them. Instead of ball control and rhythm passing to move the chains and mix in the run effectively, Daboll sticks with his plan and runs what he believes will work best without regard for the fact that our defense is getting shredded. That should have been a call by McD to say, look we need to adjust to maximum time of possesion plan, whatever that is. Same goes for 3rd down calls when you know you're gonna go for it on 4th down. Perfect time to show pass (it was 3rd and 10) and then hand it off. The box will not be stacked and there's a good chance you'll get 5-8 yards on the run there. Instead they called two pass plays, fell short and gave away the last chance we had to stay in this game. I'll bet Daboll called that 3rd down pass not knowing McD was gonna go for it on the next play. -
We started the season with rhythm passing, short completions, move the chains. Keeps Josh upright and the offense gets good time of possession. Now we will go entire halves with none of that. Easy to blame the OC, but C'mon Daboll you have to take into account how your defense is playing, weather etc., and adjust man.

Week 8 Bills (-1.5) vs Eagles
Da webster guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz and Wentz playin about the same these days. Flashing some pretty throws and a few head scratchers. We know how our defense does without Milano, so thats a concern. Hammy's are so tough because you can't really look at imaging, it's a huge muscle with over-stretched or torn fibers and they can be 2 weeks or 10 weeks. Our edge rush is kinda lukewarm this year but we can push the pocket and flush qb's. I've watched Philly twice, they're streaky but can score points. Fletcher Cox didn't look his usual dominant self in the games I saw. It'll be a wet, smashmouth game. I say Frank Gore and Josh do enough damage on the ground to win this one. P.s. lets run a few screen plays for the Motor and lets hit on a long ball for Josh Allens mojo -
Dawson Knox killing his own legend.
Da webster guy replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dropped a lot in camp, preseason and a handful of critical, costly drops this year. He might not have NFL caliber hands. -
Knox dropped a lot of balls in camp, preseason and has a handful already this year. He's made some awesome grabs and missed some simple catches at critical times. Concerning.

Week 7 expert picks
Da webster guy replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz can be a bit of a wildcard, but I've watched Miami twice now, it's like they're playing short 2 guys on defense. I swear it's actually kind of sad to watch if it weren't the loathsome Dolphins. We scored 28 on the Giants on the road, we score at least 35 on these guys at home. At least 35. -
New Wawrow article on the DUKE
Da webster guy replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well he's 4 for 4 in getting space and making the catch in his first NFL action, and has a TD already. He's not a burner but our offense this year isn't looking for deep shots anyway. The Duke has a big catch radius, good hands and blocks well. Special teamer now too. Lookin fwd to seeing him Sunday -
The AFC is a dumpster fire this season
Da webster guy replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They'd have no reason to play KC any different from last time in the AFC championship game: 47 runs, dink and dunk, move chains and keep Mahomes and Tyreek on the bench. KC will give up 30pts.
