  1. Sounds like Shorter. same size. He had a great camp, got a year to watch and learn from the sidelines year 2 I think that kid can play. Sherfield had that amazing TD off the deflected pass vs Miami but otherwise he's didnt do much at all this year. This kid can be the WR3/4 Kincaid and Shakir both elite hands and concentration. Huge boosts from the young dudes down the stretch, they carried this team since the bye.
  2. It would have helped tremendously when we had 1st down on the KC 27 yard line for our OC and Head coach to tell Josh, listen man, we DONT want a touchdown right now, we want the next first down. We're already in FG range but our kicker has been erratic and we need to keep Mahomes on the bench, so just move the chains, we'll use the timeouts if we need to but this possession ends with us kicking a last second FG from the 10 yard line or getting a TD in the final seconds to win it. I'm not saying McD didn't say that to Josh, but knowing him and the way he freezes up at the end of halves/games it never got said. Brady is an interim OC and probably is just thinking, how do we score asap? and Josh is the same way, he goes balls out. These are the moments where a strategy can win you the game. Look for the underneath stuff Josh, it's a higher percentage play and we don't want the kill shot now anyway because KC has timeouts and we can't seem to stop Mahomes today. If that gets said, he looks for Diggs wide open underneath instead of Shakir in the end zone, we move the chains, reduce the length of the kick by a lot and then play small ball until the clock winds down and then we take our shots to win it. Worst case it's a chip shot and we go to OT. In other words, even if he hits Shakir for that touchdown I still think we lose that game, Mahomes with 2 minutes and multiple timeouts. Its something that your QB isn't going to think about, he's listening for the next play and trying to process the field stuff, you need strategy from your HC to feed him game management along the way. That was a situation that called for small ball, high percentage, control the clock and kill time, but instead we're calling plays for endzone shots like there's only 20 seconds left We need someone to manage our team during the games that sits next to our OC and can talk to Josh. McD is a team leader/motivator not a strategic thinker, the OC has a tactical call the next play role, where is the strategist? We lost because we didn't have one.
  3. Floyd, Rousseau, Ed and DaQuon are a great starting front four. They didn't impact the game nearly as much as we had hoped but they're all very good to great at their positions. No changes required there for next year assuming Floyd doesn't get goofy with contract demands. Von had a few tackles but obviously is old and slow and playing off his name and coaching/leadership skills. (remember he was drafted with AJ Green, Dareus, Julio Jones, JJ Watt-- all guys that have nothing left after years of getting beat up. Von doesn't either, but he got one last huge 50M guaranteed payday on his way out, unfortunately it was from us. I don't blame him for doing it, or Beane for taking a flyer on him, it just sucks that we have to endure him trying to justify his money/ignore the fact that he's washed...its pretty sad for everyone) The biggest shock was lack of middle penetration by Ed n DQ vs run or pass. That's the key to helping the DE's get home, splitting that pocket and forcing the QB to move either direction. It also help the LB's hammer the run, but those interior OL guys for KC are way better than I remembered. Not blaming the loss on the Dline, in a lot of cases we dropped 8 into coverage anyway, they did enough to get us the win.
  4. I disagree with the approach that "we need to get __________ more involved in the passing game" We have the kind of quarterback that knows where the hot reads are and is good at improvising. We saw what happened when Brady tried to force Stef into the passing game about a month ago with those screens that were an obvious example of over-gameplanning and it cost us several possessions. Get the ball to wherever Josh decides the coverage dictates, and if there's a scramble/play extension it goes to the guy he can see that is reacting properly to the qb and presenting a decent target. Shakir and Kincaid are our top two receivers for the past month when the game is on the line, and next week it could be Steph and Knox, or even Cookie. Shakir is awesome and still learning, like Kincaid, but they seem to be very sticky handed when it comes to clutch catches and will be getting plenty of targets along the way. Both fast with good YAC for a slot and TE, these guys are the future of our team and have proven it lately. Go Bills !
  5. Delay of game another coaching error that Josh had to overcome. Not as bad as 12 men on the field loss to Denver, or 13 seconds, but after a Fins timeout in a critical must have situation they showed us again how badly we need a real OC and not some guy off the staff to replace the guy you fired midSeason. Between McD and Brady, poor Josh has to be scratching his head during every game, like What Are These Clowns Doing?
  6. Using the numbers ranking for receivers has always made no sense to me. Our two best targets for the past month have been Shakir and Kincaid. Everyone else is in the mix depending on defensive gameplan and what reads are hot for Josh. Sherfield has been pretty inconsistent this season but he'll get some opportunities here. Obviously Stef 5-8 targets per game. I thought they might want to activate Shorter for a limited role, and if one more guy goes down he's gonna be forced out there. Would love to see him get some live reps in the second half of the Steelers game when we're up by three scores.
  7. McD failed in hiring Dorsey and our special teams coach has already cost us two games (Jets and Denver) and almost cost us the New England game by electing to gamble a chance at maybe getting 5 yards on the kickoff tackle vs the risk of having a kickoff return for a TD which almost cost us our season. Sean cannot afford to fail again with the OC for next year, and it's very likely NOT going to be the guy who happened to be the QB coach when McD's original choice failed. They need to do an exhaustive search and interview a dozen top OC candidates regardless of what happens in the offseason. In fairness Josh and Joe, our best two options right now in terms of Go To guys are Kincaid and Shakir, a 2nd year guy and a rookie with about 100 targets total between them. Diggs and Knox are in massive slumps, our two highest paid targets by a lot. I can't help but think Beane is kicking himself for not pulling the trigger on DHop. Next year is going to look different for sure.
  8. DaQuon will be suiting up for Miami, that's far more important than Waddle to the outcome of the game. Ed Oliver, Floyd and Rousseau are all we have left man. Von is obviously a joke at this point, AJ n Philips hurt, we need DaQuon in the worst way if we're going to disrupt an offense like Miami.
  9. personally i wish they would dump half of these types of penalties that involve gray areas that are sometimes called and sometimes not. Too many rules these poor officials are trying to judge holding and pass interference, illlegal hits in real time, player intent etc. If I ran the league here's what I would do: Get rid of illegal man downfield rules, get rid of the cheat forward penalty (just limit player to having to be 5 yards within LOS so they dont get a massive headstart), the offensive linemen cant move at all like the old days (no more of this pointing and head turning crap), get rid of the Tush push for the same reason you cant climb on a teammates back to block a kick- and also it's going to end a qb's career sooner than later. Outside of the rules changes, I would quit stopping the game to announce to everyone a penalty that is clearly being declined. Pick up the flag, motion to the head coach what the call is and if they decline it, the clock starts and we go on with the game. Nobody cares about a penalty that isn't affecting the game, lets get more flow into the game. Lastly, now that you asked (haha) has anyone noticed they use a more orange-ish looking ball for kicks and the mud brown ones for normal play? The contrasting lighter color is way easier to see than the dark ball, so at the very least use those balls for regular play. Its bad enough we got rid of the college white stripe and use a ball that is THE most difficult color to see, the least they can do is lighten it up. We're all staring at the thing after all. The ball really should be even lighter for these networks who are too dumb to film the FG kicks from the stands with the green field as contrast. I mean sometimes games (and the entire season maybe) comes down to a final kick and you can barely tell if its between the uprights because the ball disappears against the crowd so you literally have to look at the refs to see what happened. That's a huge fail. Brighter footballs please. Duh.
  10. Like Seattle did to them
  11. Dallas D got rolled by Seattle last week, I expect the same in Buffalo.
  12. Bills would have been down 4 with 1:12 and three timeouts. That's enough to run an 8 play drive. Not impossible for Josh at all.
  13. I think they tried that four or five times yesterday. The verdict is in on that play, it has proven itself to be unproductive. The cowboys will be ready for that play which reeks of pick 6 if you know it's coming. We need a legit OC so badly. Approaching the end of the half Josh was on the field with his hands over his ears waiting for a play call from upstairs yelling "what are we doing? Give me something!" Sorry Josh, we should have given you Dhop, and an innovative OC. You got Trent Sherfield and Joe Brady.
  14. He doesn't ALWAYS make the play... But when he does.....he prefers to do it 7 yards downfield.....
  15. Seems like its either that or he all out blitzes like he chose to do against Russel Wilson that cost us the game on that floater he threw to Jeudy that got the P.I. call on Taron. If he just rushed four and played our normal defense we probably win both the Eagles and Broncos games not to mention the 13 seconds game. McD just got an extended contract, he isn't getting fired. His strength is leadership and creating a strong team brotherhood, but he needs support for his game coaching, he falls short there and it's been proven time and time again. Help the guy, don't fire the guy. Get the quality control/game managers in the booth to call the time outs, manage the plays/clock and end of half end of game strategies. He wasn't good at that BEFORE he had to call a defensive play every down, so instead of giving him less to think about we actually put more on his plate. We pride ourselves on developing and supporting our players, lets do it for McD.
  16. Not only is he elite, he and Lamar are the most fun QB's in the world to watch. I think Josh is averaging 30 a game for three years rolling now. I can't imagine us having anyone else, and I'd take him over any QB in the league in a second.
  17. I still think bringing him back for the Jacksonville game cost us a very important roster spot that hurt us pretty badly. He hasn't impacted anything, lets face it, he's very old for that position. He was drafted with AJ Green, JJ Watt, Dareus, Julio Jones, Aaron Williams etc I don't think anyone from that draft class is still competing at a high level and Von is no exception. Beaner went all in to get a superbowl and squeeze one last season out of Von but the guy just has too many miles on him. Can still be a great leader, motivator, and maybe get home on a few 3rd down rushes this year but I don't expect much production
  18. Yup Key to NFL wins= control the trenches, have a good qb. Cannot go far without both of those things.
  19. you forgot my son Leodis Sincerely Mrs McKelvin
  20. i like all announcers that are bills fans. loved kelso and murph, Van (duh), and Brownie has great enthusiasm and knows the team better than anyone so he's good for me too. Eric Wood is awesome in broadcast and mondays on WGR. now i need to figure out how to synch the radio with the tv so i can listen to these guys instead of the TV weenies
  21. I think we were one McD/Frasier 13 seconds blunder away from winning it all two years ago with basically the same squad. You're forgetting Milano/Poyer/Hyde who are all elite players at their positions, and maybe Tre too. These guys are All Pro level when 100% WR's don't win championships, it's QB's and to a lesser extent coaching/gameplanning.
  22. You mean the rookie OC whose offense scored the second most ppg in the league last year? Yeah he's no good.
  23. You don't have to defend yourself to anyone, this is a great thread idea. I will probably lurk and not offer too much but I have a friend who digs into college as deep as anyone and has had some very big years. One thing I've heard from the ultra experienced gamblers is that if you want to bet on the favorite you should bet early. Line movement can be erratic, but generally, favorites are more popular with the public, and so the line tends to move against them after the betting line is opened. This new world of legalized online betting has created a ton of casual bettors who generally don’t consider odds or the point spread too strongly. They simply bet on the favorite as soon as the line is released. Over time, the line tends to move against the favorite, making them a less attractive bet. Conversely, if you like the road underdog it is often worth waiting a few days after the line is released. Generally, the public bets on favorites which leads to line movement in favor of the underdog. One more technique to use if you know which side you like (Bills): decide on a price that works for you and wait to see if the line moves onto your price. If it doesn’t, don’t bet. Here's another thought: Opening line in the morning: Bills – 6 (-110) Fins+6 (-110) Line in the evening: Bills-9 (-110) Fins +9 (-110) This line movement indicates that a lot of money has been placed on the Bills in a short space of time. Although movement does tend to go against the favorite, it is often quite gradual. A big jump like this suggests that the smartest bettors with the most money (or sharps) think that the original line offered by the sportsbook was very good value. If you spot a situation like this, a good move will be to quickly check other sportsbooks to see if the Bills are available anywhere else at -6. Since sportsbooks react to the bets they receive themselves (as opposed to bets received by other sportsbooks) lines move at different speeds in different books. We've seen some pretty big discrepancies just between draft kings, caesars, fan duel etc Dramatic movement over a short period of time indicates big money from clued-in bettors. Gradual movement in one direction indicates public perception and of course sometimes line movement is orchestrated by sportsbooks to entice people to bet on a specific side of the bet because they're too heavily imbalanced. Last thought: If you and someone you trust completely disagree on a bet but are both going to bet it anyway, leave the sportsbooks out of it and just bet each other then whip out the venmo at the end of the game and square up. No sense letting the fat cats take 10% for doing nothing. Also if you don't think Damar Hamlin isn't winning comeback player of the year you're insane. The dude was clinically dead and a year later he's out there hammering ball carriers. Sure Tua had a concussion or two, but for god's sake man our boy came back from the afterlife to win back his starting job. Bet your grandma's pension on that one and take her to Hawaii when you cash out......
  24. Obviously people who clicked on the link. Like you and me.
  25. Agreed. Roger is definitely a weenie and more of a lawyer pawn than an innovative leader but we're stuck with this guy for awhile longer so might as well embrace it.
