  1. Special teams was a disaster (minus recovering the fumble by Jets). Offense was fine. 23 points on 368 yards and 34 minutes TOP is fine. 3 turnovers isn't good. Defense was mostly great. Of course, they crumbled in the clutch and gave up very untimely TDs. If our ST unit was just a bit below average, as opposed to a disaster, we win this game pretty easy. Jets wouldn't have been close enough to make a difference.
  2. We only saved 2 mil against the cap by trading Dareus. Most of his contract turned into dead cap after the trade. There was an out in his contract after this season. Given that we barely save against the cap by trading him, I would've rather kept him around.
  3. Don't forget the atrocious challenge in the first half! Or in the 2nd half taking a timeout after the TD to get the 2 pt conversion call in!
  4. It's pretty easy to forgive JA for a bad pass when he was scrambling like a madman and throwing across the field. Worse passes than that are routinely caught around the NFL. Watch some other games and see the types of catches other teams make. This 100% should've been caught by Clay.
  5. I thought they don't do reviews for forward progress?
  6. I voted Yes. After watching the video I think a 6 game suspension would be more than fair, and he deserves a second chance after that. As far as McBeane not wanting a character like Hunt.... the only difference between Mccoy and Hunt is that Mccoy was never caught on video...
  7. He's out of the league until Goddell removes him from that list. It doesn't necessarily have to coincide with legal issues being resolved.
  8. Couple thoughts 1) The NFL only cares about domestic violence when the video leaks 2) This wasn't as bad as Ray Rice 3) The Bills should try and sign him
  9. The only calls I can remember being bad were the hold on Edmunds and the hold on Johnson. The call on Edmunds was egregiously bad and was a 3rd down conversion. My bigger complaints are how the managed to kill the flow of the game and lose control of the game. At this point I have to wonder if it's possible for an O-Linemen to be called for holding when it's on Jerry Hughes. The guy gets mugged multiple times per game with no calls. I realize Hughes will frequently embellish to try and fish for a call, but there are multiple plays per game that are legit holds and it seems they never get called. Was I the only one that thought the Jags were getting away with liberties on Josh Allen? Couple borderline late hits, including one to the head after he slid. There was very little force to that hit, but it was well after the slide, and to the head.... (maybe JA embellished it a bit). If that was Brady that's 100% a penalty. Why do teams get away with that stuff on mobile QB's ?
  10. Would we be a playoff team with Tyrod? Probably. The 2nd wildcard in the AFC is going to be a pretty bad team (just like last year). With how great our defense is playing I think TT could get this team to 9-7. For those pointing out that TT flamed out in Cleveland, let's take a look at the games he played. Week 1 vs Steelers 21-21 tie. Tuhrod goes 15/40 for 197 yds 1 TD 1 INT. Adds in 8 carries for 77 yds and a TD. Pretty awful completion percentage in a torrential downpour (Big Ben threw 3 ints that game). Browns had a 43 yd FG blocked in OT that would've won the game. Week 2 vs Saints 21-18 loss. Tyrod goes 22/30 for 246 yds 1 TD 1 INT. Adds in 4 carries for 26 yards. Pretty mediocre stats that you can't really complain about. Browns missed 2 FG's and 2 PAT's this game. Week 3 vs Jets. Tyrod goes 4/19 for 19 yards in the first half before being concussed and replaced by Baker Mayfield (who led the Browns to a win). Can't really defend this one, those are pretty brutal stats. Those games are pretty much vintage Tyrod. Pretty meh against Steelers and Saints, did enough to put his team in a position to win, and would've won both games with a competent kicker. Awful against the Jets. I think Tuhrod being benched is more about how successful Baker was once he took over, as opposed to TT being bad.
  11. NE just got smoked by the Titans. The Bills beat the Titans this year. Therefore.... In all seriousness I think we have about a 0.0001% chance of making the playoffs.
  12. These are the reasons Rex was fired after 31 games (in no particular order) - Rex was a defensive minded HC that took over a defense that had 2 consecutive seasons of being in the top 5 and turned it into a below average unit. - Rex's nepotism hire with his dumb ass brother as DC. - Rex set expectations too high. He promised we would make the playoffs. He said we "won the offseason". - Rex's team took a lot of dumb penalties that one would normally associate with bad coaching. We routinely looked unprepared and undisciplined. - Rex made poor in game coaching decisions. He did not manage the clock well and made dumb challenges. - The week 17 TT situation. Whaley demanded that Rex bench TT for fear that TT would be injured which would trigger an injury clause in his contract. Rex refused and lost the power struggle. All things considered I think we made the right choice by firing him. Time will tell if we made the right decision by hiring Mcdermott
  13. Couple questions: 1) Has tanking ever worked in the NFL ? 2) Has a team ever tanked the year AFTER drafting their "franchise QB" ? 3) If we're tanking, why did we keep our aging veterans (Mccoy + Hughes) instead of trading them for picks ?
  14. Like how firing Rex after <2 seasons led to a playoff berth the next year with a rookie HC ? In all seriousness though, I think we absolutely need to give McBeane one more full season after this one. The "process" was clearly to build long term at the cost of winning this year. I'm not sold on the plan and see a lot of red flags in their decision making, BUT they've shown enough to give them the benefit of the doubt for one more year. If 2019 draft + FA class work out and Allen+Edmunds turn into the stars we hope, this will be a great team.
  15. People lack historical perspective when they ask questions like this. Teams more pathetic than the Bills: Cleveland Browns (the new team). In 20 seasons they have 1 playoff appearance (a loss). Averaging just over 4 wins per season. The team that up and left their city has won multiple SB's in the new city. Detroit Lions. In the SB era they have exactly 1 playoff win, and were god awful in the Matt Millen era. Houston Texans/Jacksonville Jaguars have never made a superbowl. Both franchises had some pretty good seasons. The peak of the Kelly era with 4 straight superbowls puts the Bills well above any of those franchises IMO. And that's just football.
  16. On draft night I really wanted to hear "Rosen" instead of "Allen". With that said, it's pretty hilarious you are using this game as the example for why you think Rosen is better than Allen. Rosen struggled for 3 quarters before leading a 4th quarter comeback against one of the worst teams in the NFL. Allen did the same thing against a better opponent (Titans). Allen has what is probably the best game of any of the rookie QB's this year on the road against the Vikings. Based on how the other rookie QB's have played so far this year I'm actually starting to feel a lot better about Allen.
  17. 30 year old Bills/Sabres fa. Only 2 years come to mind '99 with Sabres in the finals and Bills in the playoffs. I wasn't really old enough to appreciate it fully and obviously some pretty bitter losses 2006 Sabres in the ECF. They were so much fun to watch that year and I was really into it. Of course, 4 of our top 6 defenders get hurt and we lose in game 7...
  18. To clarify: I think Mccoy is an elite RB, and Ivory/Murphy are serviceable. Where the Bills are right now, and given that Mccoy is 30 years old (with a hefty contact), I think we're better off in the long term if we trade him now for a 3rd rd pick or better.
  19. So we've done our best to take a ridiculously high dead cap number in an effort to help us in the future, at the cost of having a less talented team now. But we won't trade a 30 year old RB ? Much as I love Shady, now that Ivory/Murphy have shown to be capable RB's I see no reason to not trade him. Hopefully this is just the Bills trying to increase his trade value.
  20. We gave up a 3rd+7th for this guy. Pretty serious miss by Mcbeane in both talent and character evaluation.
  21. At least I've had a few people agree with me in this thread. I concur that the 2 blunders vastly outweigh the average yardage stats. I'm more concerned with what happened on that 'fake FG' than if he had just fumbled it or fully committed to the fake and threw an incompletion. The way he reacted I think he went into the play with the mindset that it's probably a fake, but he's not entirely sure, so if no one runs a route he's going to place the ball back down for Hauschka to kick it. The indecision baffles me. If he truly thought it was a fake why would he try to place the ball again?
  22. 1) No it does not 2) There could be a correlation there. Given the only data point I have is that Bojorquez is last in hang time and 9th in inside 20 % the anecdotal evidence would point to a weak correlation.
