  1. Final penalty count was 8 on the Dolphins for 51 yards and 7 on the Bills for 51 yards. That's about as even as it gets. As far as that fans complaints 1) The flag was in the air b/c they were going to call defensive holding. You can see the defender grab McKenzie's shoulder and yank him back. Easy call. The refs then huddled up and decided that, in addition to the defensive holding, the defender interfered with McKenzie. Also a pretty easy call. 2) Even though Allen threw it directly at the linemen there was an eligible receiver in the vicinity. Not grounding 3) Refs were generally letting the secondary play. Lots of contact went uncalled for both teams. Including a clear OPI on White that took an INT opportunity away. 4) See 3 5) You can't start a hit on a QB a full yard out of bounds and then say it's not roughing. Don't care how hard he hit Allen or if he was "trying to hold up" 6) The refs didn't give Tua the head first slip at first, but they did correct the spot before the snap
  2. Classic McDermott/Frazier defense against a good offense. You can forget about taking the best weapon away from the other team. You can even forget about picking our poison. We let every weapon go off
  3. In 15 years of playing FF I just had my most devastating playoff miss. In the last week the only way I could miss the playoffs was if: 1) I lost my matchup AND 2) The 3 teams that trailed me by 1 game each won their matchups (and won tiebreakers) I lost my matchup by 15 points. I started Kyler Murray, Tyler Boyd, and Davante Parker (I had Olave and McLaurin on my bench due to week 14 byes). All THREE of those different starters got injured early and combined for <5 points. All I needed was a non-terrible game from Murray (let alone the other 2 guys) and I would've won. The other 3 teams all won their games and I narrowly lost out on the PF tiebreaker.
  4. The unverified one could be Jerry Suilivan with the first "i" capitalized
  5. Did anyone read the article and not just the clickbait tweet? He wasn't in the building b/c his wife went into labor. He's not immediately coming back because he has a knee injury and going to IR. Last week, Smith addressed the press and gave a preview of the looming decision to make a change at quarterback. “We will have some very intense meetings in the next couple of days. Obviously, I know where we’re at. We understand, too, that we’ve been in some close games lately and we need to get back over the hump,” Smith said. "There will be changes made. Everything that we decide to do I will be as transparent as possible.” That day, Smith also informed the press that Mariota wasn’t in the building because his wife went into labor with their first child. Smith added on Monday that Mariota was also likely to be placed on injured reserve with what Smith described as a “chronic” knee injury.
  6. I'm not hostile to the signing. I don't think it made the team worse. I don't think it made the team better either. I think it's about a coin flip chance that he'll be more impactful than John Brown (0 catches on 1 target in 2 games).
  7. Did you watch 2021 Cole Beasley when his production took a nose dive as he got older and injured ? He looked washed in 2021 playing for us, and he looked worse on the Bucs in 2022. Beasley might have some familiarity with the playbook, but he never played in Dorsey's system. His rapport with Allen has some value, but not enough to make up for his physical deficiencies.
  8. Beane bringing in another washed up has been just because it's a guy that Beane is familiar with. You can go out there and find a better UDFA than Beasley or ***** a guy like Kumerow off a PS. This is not a team that needs veteran leadership. If, indeed, Beasley is a "leader" at anything other than mouthing off on twitter. Edit: I used a synonym for "grab" that this site censored. Didn't realize it was banned lol
  9. It's way too early, but based on on-field production relative to draft status I'll go with these ratings: Elam - 5 - wasn't terrible when he was playing (wasn't great either). Healthy scratch for the past few games. Cook - 3 - Got off to a very slow start with fumbling his first NFL touch. Looked like an NFL quality player vs NE and CLE. Bernard - 1 - Looked like a wasted pick when we made it. Continues to look like a wasted pick Shakir - 3 - Barely played, but that's not bad for a 5th rd pick Araiza - 0 - DNP Benford - 9 - Looks like at least a playable depth guy. That's great value for 6th rd Tenuta - 0 - DNP Spector - 0 - DNP Elam, Cook, and Shakir have all shown flashes to make me think they can be quality starters in the years to come. But for now they've barely contributed to the current season.
  10. A lot of our problems this year have been player's execution and not coaching. How many drops did we have yesterday ? Holding penalties ? False starts (inexcusable at home) ? Player mistakes either flat out killed drives or put us behind the sticks in a poor weather game. The mistakes have been a theme all year. So has poor O-line play in general.
  11. Does that mean social media rushing to judge him guilty before police/prosecutor investigated the claims was a mistake ?
  12. Pretty darn bad, but maybe we can restructure it to mitigate the damage Von Miller's contract by year: Active Dead Cap 2023 18.7 40.2 2024 22.2 22.8 2025 21.2 7.4
  13. Off the top of my head contracts that are worse even if Von Miller never plays again Russel Wilson Kyler Murray Deshaun Watson (that's a spicy take but we'll see) Kenny Golloday Dee Ford Michael Thomas
  14. RB does become a need if we let Singletary walk, but for the love of god, do not draft one in the 1st round. O-line and WR are bigger and more important needs.
  15. The Titans haven't had a losing season under Robinson and have 4 playoff appearances with 3 playoff wins. That's pretty impressive with Tannehill and Mariota at QB The problem might be with first rd draft picks: Year Pick Player name Position 2016 8 Jack Conklin T 2017 5 Corey Davis WR 2017 18 Adoree' Jackson DB 2018 22 Rashaan Evans LB 2019 19 Jeffery Simmons DT 2020 29 Isaiah Wilson T 2021 22 Caleb Farley CB 2022 18 Treylon Burks WR Simmons is the only good pick there. Maybe Burks will turn out.
  16. I was wondering this as well given the timing was highly suspicious. I don't think it makes sense having your best defensive player be the one to fake an injury - they still have to sit out the next play
  17. What Edmunds could sign for on the open market : 18mm+ What I'd like to see Edmunds sign for: 12mm What the Bills can afford given their cap situation: ??? The Bills cap situation for 2023 is not being talked about enough in this thread. We already have 229mm in active contracts. That's 9mm over the projected cap of 220mm. The current number of 229mm does NOT include the 20 expiring UFA contracts at the end of this season. The most notable of which are Tremaine Edmunds and Jordan Poyer. It's going to be difficult to re-sign Edmunds at any price. Is he worth the cap shenanigans ?
  18. That was particularly egregious. I'm surprised the NFL is only issuing a warning and didn't fine Bates and the Bengals for it.
  19. Bengals defense only forced 1 punt yesterday. The win was more about their offense controlling the clock and putting up points (and a well timed fumble recovery)
  20. It is a related discussion at least, even if there is some difference. I'd like to see refs be a bit quicker with the whistle. Is it fair that offense can push a pile forward to gain additional yards, but if a defense pushes a pile backwards the spot of the ball is forward progress ? Defenders aren't launching themselves into a pile with reckless abandon like many O-line do. They are targeting the runners arms to try and force a fumble. The goal is to force a fumble or bring the runner down. For Offense the only goal is push the pile forward
  21. There's 2 types of plays like this that I think would be very easy to legislate. 1) A designed play to push a runner forward. IE what the Bills were doing earlier in the year with Gabe Davis lining up behind Allen on sneaks. 2) O-line running downfield to crash into a pile when forward progress has been stopped, but refs don't want to blow it dead.
  22. It's only a matter of time until we see a major injury from this. It doesn't feel like a football play to me and I'd like to see it removed.
  23. I don't think the offense was all that different. Josh could've easily been picked off 3+ times. Gabe Davis did a great job playing DB to break one up and the Patriots either dropped or couldn't quite make a play on the others. The defense was excellent - by far their best game in a while
  24. How about when the Patriots rolled into Martin's legs after a punt ? The broadcast completely ignored it
  25. I agree the "tuck" part is a more compelling argument. I know the time element part of this rule doesn't necessarily apply to the tuck part, but I don't think Poyer had the ball tucked away long enough to be considered a tuck (looks like half a second at most before he hits the ground).
