Couple thoughts 1) Bills have an elite O-Line and Cook produced at a great, but not elite level. Ray Davis played just as well in the game that Cook missed due to injury. 2) 15 mil is not completely outlandish, but it's definitely too high. I doubt any team in the NFL would pay him that much 3) He's entering the 4th year of his rookie contract and doesn't have any leverage in a hold out. We could franchise tag him after the 2025 season and pay less than 15 mil 4) Beane tends to get Bills guys to re-sign at a discount. A discounted Cook contract is probably in the 9 mil range

Honestly I wonder about this. Last season he was CLEARLY not ready to come back from that injury, yet he still started almost every game after week 5 (he was benched for the week 17 game). I don't understand what the coaches could have possibly seen from him in practice (or the actual games) to make them think he was ready to play. I think it boiled down to Von Miller saying he was ready, and our coaches ignoring what they were seeing because he's Von Miller. So yea, I think he was freelancing and playing hero ball out there against KC. He was going for moves that 27 year old Von Miller would've pulled off for a sack, but 35 year old Von Miller couldn't and instead resulted in big gains for the Chiefs. Our coaches let it happen because he's legendary soon to be HOF Von Miller.

McD apologists will let you know Farwell wasn't fired, his contract came up and we didn't renew it. Frasier wasn't fired either, he simply 'took a year off' with apparently 1 year left on his contract. Have any other of the long tenured head coaches fired this many coordinators and only seen 1 coordinator sniped to be HC by a different team?

Who though? Philly's total defense had an all-time great performance, but no great individual performances. Sweat had 2.5 sacks and Williams had 2 sacks, but neither forced any turnovers. Dejean had the pick-6 but no sacks. Baun had the other INT but no sacks. It goes to the QB by default in a game like this. Hurts had a decent enough game with just under 300 yards, 3 TD, 1 turnover.

Philly has the worst fan base in sports, but I found the Reid-era Eagles to be quite a fun team to watch. Donovan Mcnabb ('Cuse guy) Brian Westbrook Lesean Mccoy The current Eagles beat Brady and Mahomes in the SB. Barkley is one of the more likeable players in the league.

Exactly this. D-Line doesn't matter when we have DBs in man coverage giving up 10+ yard cushions. Mahomes will shred that 100% of the time

I find it hilarious that our last 5 playoff losses are due to the defense playing like absolute garbage and McD's response has been to fire 2 special team coaches. We've yet to fire a defensive coordinator under McD. Ok, ok, Farwell wasn't 'fired' per se, we just didn't renew his contract. Reading between the lines McD blamed him for the 13 second meltdown. Smiley was not good as ST coach, but I'd love to see this type of accountability for our defensive minded HC / DC's

In one half against KC the Eagles defense has forced 2 turnovers and 4x 3 and outs. In 4 full playoff games against KC the Bills defense has forced 2 turnovers and 3x 3 and outs. It's unfathomable how bad our DEF has been against KC.

Sure, KC's offense was great from 2018-2022, but they've been quite average in 2023 and 2024. They weren't even a top 10 offense this year in the regular season and we still got shredded in the playoff game. All 4 times we've played them in the playoffs they scored the most points in their postseason run against us (pending for 2024 if they score more than 32 against PHI). The Bills offense only has 1 turnover in those 4 games so it's not like our DEF is being put in tough spots. If the Bills DEF was merely 'really bad' instead of 'historically bad' we'd be 3-1 against them in these playoff games.

Chiefs went through most of the season, and the playoff game vs us, without their WR1 Rashee Rice.

I think it's misleading since we're looking at only the last 5 losses for the Bills and comparing it against ALL playoff games for other teams. The current Steelers team under Tomlin has lost their last 6 playoff games while allowing 38.3 PPG. Still, I think McD's defense has been unforgivably bad in the playoffs and frankly should've been fired after the 13 second game.

For me if we're comparing total actual wins (coaching) vs total expected wins based on roster talent level (GM) I think the Bills look something like this: Year expected wins actual wins 2017 7 9 2018 3 6 2019 10 10 2020 13 13 2021 13 11 2022 13 13 2023 12 11 2024 11 13 Total 82 86 Expected wins of 13 in 2020-2022 is pretty crazy, but when you have top 2 QB on a rookie contract I think that's a reasonable number. As far as postseason results go I think 2024 is the only year McD exceeded expectations. However, beating the Ravens in a 50/50 type game where they committed multiple unforced errors is hardly a ringing endorsement

We also need elite players that show up in playoff games. Brown was garbage in the Chiefs game and Dawkins was almost as bad

Von Miller's contract: 23.8mm active cap hit for 2025 If we release him pre-June 1st 15.4mm dead cap in 2025 8.4mm cap savings in 2025 If we release him post-June 1st 6.4mm dead cap for 2025 9.0mm dead cap for 2026 17.4mm cap savings in 2025 Von will be 36 years old this coming season. He's a major knee injury and 2.5 seasons removed from the last time he was a difference maker on the field. If Von were a UFA today I doubt he'd get a deal for more than 5mm (maybe with a bunch of incentives). The question isn't SHOULD Von Miller be released, it's WHEN should he be released

1) We rushed a few of the tush push snaps to try and catch KC with wrong personnel 2) KC was lining up in the neutral zone on every short yardage play I'm curious if they'll do the same in the SB and if they'll actually be flagged for it

Not only was the WR out of bounds, he was clearly a full yard short of the line to gain. That game made Ralph Wilson change his mind about instant replay/coaches challenges

Yup, this has been McD's defense since the day he got here. It's ironic he spent the whole season preaching 'complementary football' yet his DEF is only good for racking up stats against garbage QBs in blowout victories. The DEF scheme/philosophy gets torched every single year in the playoffs by great QBs

Not really sure what OP was looking at, KC was 3-3 in the regular season game against us and 4-5 in the playoff game (it was technically 4-6 but im excluding the end of game kneel down). Point still stands that our red zone defense was abysmal vs KC

If Allen was pushing for Coleman, why did we trade down....twice? The only reasonable explanation is that Beane felt Worthy/Pearsall/Legette/Coleman/McConkey were interchangeable, and didn't care which one we ended up with.

Von Miller can get *****. Mahomes magic? Our DEF could not have made the game easier for him. Miller said he’ll keep coming to One Bills Drive as long as his key card works. He wants to return to the Bills and thinks that feeling is mutual. The only question for the Bills is if we're going to make him a post June 1st designation when we release him this offseason. Good luck finding another team, you're going to need it

Chiefs (O-line in particular) commit a ton of penalties that get called in the regular season, but go un-called in the playoffs.

I think we have a pretty warped view on here of what a good offense looks like. 29 points scored without turning the ball over is a fantastic game by the offense. No short fields either. It's easily the best performance by an offense in a loss in this years playoffs.

I'm surprised how many people think we can only replace McD with some previously established head coach. The 2009 Colts went from Tony Dungy to Jim Caldwell and finished 14-2 with a SB appearance. Caldwell had never been more than a QB coach

How many more times do we need to see a defensive collapse in the playoffs from our defensive minded head coach? It's happened 6 times in the last 5 seasons, Colts, Bengals, and Chiefsx4 McD is now 0-6 in road playoff games
