  1. McD skews the stats on his 4th down decisions by taking delay of game penalties in situations that we should really be going for it. 4th and 2 from the TB 44 is just about the perfect scenario to go for it. McD takes a delay of game penalty and now it's 4th and 7 from the 49. The 4th down models only look at the actual play (4th and 7) and determines he made the correct decision to punt. For OP's point, I agree this game was overall very similar to the Pats game for the offense if we average out what happened over the course of the game. Last week the offense started slow and finished strong, this week we started strong and finished slow (exacerbated by McD's cowardice on 4th downs). The offense played well enough to win both games even if they were not dominant. The DEF was much better this week
  2. Didn't we used to sub in EJ Manuel to do hard counts and sometimes QB sneaks ?
  3. Kirk Cousins has had a fully guaranteed contract for years and I doubt the Vikings have any regrets about that. Also, medically cleared to play doesn't necessarily mean he SHOULD be playing. Dawson Knox was medically cleared to play the last 2 weeks and was a detriment to the team. That's just from the team perspective. No idea what it was costing him personally/professional in both the short and long term to play through that. Edit: It's more than a little ironic to call a guy that grew up to a single mom on welfare a "trust fund baby"
  4. I'm a ref complainer, but I'll stand by that Bucs game being the worst and most lopsided officiating against the Bills in the McD era. They were bad all night but the end of that game was really something. The refs let the Bucs hogtie Diggs on our 3rd down pass to the end zone at the end of regulation with no call. Only to follow that up in OT by calling DPI on Wallace when Brady underthrew Evans by 5 yards. Evans bear hugged Wallace so he couldn't turn around and the call goes against Wallace.
  5. I could see McD firing Dorsey after another loss. I don't think it would be a good idea to do so at this point in the season, but it would be a nice distraction from his tire-fire of a defense. Kinda like Rex Ryan firing Greg Roman in 2016 week 2 after losing 31-37.
  6. Knox is an interesting case study. From a catching perspective he was below replacement level his first 2 seasons. Then in years 3 and 4 he improved dramatically to being one of the best in the league. I really thought he had worked the drops out of his system. Now in year 5 he's back to being as bad (or even worse) as he was earlier in his career. He leads the league in TE drops despite not having many targets. Can we blame his poor performance this season on the injury? Is the 'real' Dawson Knox the guy we saw in years 1+2 that couldn't hold onto the ball? Is this just bad luck from a small sample size? This would be like if Allen suddenly dropped back to a sub 60% completion rate.
  7. The Bills offense scored 3.125 points per possession (I'm not counting the end of either half as a possession). If my math is correct that's the 4th best offensive performance of the week trailing behind BAL, PHI, and NE. Our defense easily had the 2nd worst performance of the week (at least we were better than DET). So why are people blaming the offense? 1) The QB (and therefore offense) always gets too much credit and blame for wins/losses 2) Our offense has been sputtering in the last 3 games relative to putting up a perfect game vs Dolphins in week4 3) Injuries on DEF changed our expectations and we now think that as long as we're not allowing a TD every single drive the DEF is doing their job 4) Our DEF minded head coach places the blame on the offense
  8. Absolutely this. Should be a 3rd round pick (or a 4th at worst) unless Beane murders the comp pick formula. Hopefully we see a repeat of the Jaguars throwing stupid money at non top tier WRs.
  9. Well you see, if the offense had been putting together 10 minute TD drives on every single possession than the DEF would've been on the field for 1-2 fewer possessions and only allowed 22 points to the worst offense in the NFL.
  10. McDermott must love that the offense is distracting from the fact that his defense just got carved up by the Mac Jones Patriots. We're arguing that Josh might've left some meat on the bone while ignoring that the DEF had the 2nd worst performance of the week across the entire NFL. This loss was almost entirely the defense's fault.
  11. Dawson has twice as many drops as Kelce on half as many targets. Kelce has 5x the yards in 1 fewer games. Obviously it's not fair to compare Knox to the GOAT TE, but he's had a disaster of a season so far. Knox is paid to be a top 10 TE and his play isn't even in the top 30. I'll never be happy that a Bills player is injured, but it's easy to make the argument we'll be better with Knox out of the lineup
  12. How does this trade make any sense for the Titans? Titans get: Edmunds 5th rd pick 6th rd pick 8.8mm dead cap in '23 13.3mm dead cap in '24
  13. I know Allen endorsed Dorsey for OC, but I feel like it's revisionist history to say that was the primary reason he was hired. Everyone in the organization was ok with Dorsey being promoted. It's not like we were holding open interviews and Dorsey was some dark-horse candidate that we brought in because of Josh. McBeane are loyal, to a fault, and tend to go back to players (or coaches) they are familiar with. How many times have they tapped the Carolina Panthers connection ? Do you think Josh was whispering in their ear to sign Josh Norman to the PS? Josh and Dawson are friends, but I don't know how much of an impact that had on his contract. A bad contract for Knox fits the McBeane MO perfectly.
  14. That was a weird kick for sure. Watching it again I think Bass just sliced the heck out of it. The streamers on the goal posts were barely moving, and I don't see the refs pants moving either. If it was the wind it would have to be the flukiest burst of wind in history to only effect the path the kick was on and nothing else. Doesn't look like a defender tipped it either.
  15. No wonder why I didn't notice him! If he's THAT limited from the injury recovery, why are we wasting a roster spot on him? We should've left him on IR...
  16. I don't know how people can watch our O-line get caved in play after play and think Allen only had an average game. Joe Burrow behind this O-line would've been sacked a dozen times on his way to 50 yards passing and no points scored for the entire game. The offense had 1 turnover (I'm not counting the final play fumble) and 1 punt against a very good defense. I'd call that a pretty good outing
  17. While that is technically true I feel like it doesn't tell the whole story. The only turnover by our offense turned into a 1st down for the Patriots from our 45 yard line. We allowed them to slice through our defense for a TD. The long punt return gave the Patriots a 1st down on our 46 yard line. Our DEF got shredded and let them drive down to the 6 yard line before settling for a 24 yard FG. Those were NOT good defensive drives, even when you account for the short fields.
  18. That's the point I'm trying to make. McD took a generic question about slow starts and turned it exclusively into an offense issue. He completely ignored his defense's slow starts to games this season (and this game in particular). He's scape-goating the offense when HIS defense was a complete train wreck from the opening whistle.
  19. While I agree the offense had it's issues (to be kind) to start the game. What about McD's defense???!!??? You can't give up a 9 play 63 yard FG drive followed by a 7 play 45 yard TD drive to the worst offense in the league
  20. Only talking about "rhythm" to me feels like McD is blaming the slow starts on the offense. His DEF has been absolute ***** to start games. Even the Raiders tore us up on their first possession. The Jets (A A Ron injury) and the Commanders (lol) are the only teams to not score on either of their first 2 possessions against us. Your DEF gave up 10 points to the Mac Jones Patriots on their first 2 possessions. They haven't scored more than 20 points in a game before playing us this season.
  21. Wrong sport. NFL trade deadline is nothing like the other sports. Rarely see big trades during the season. The comp pick formula and trades triggering dead cap makes trades difficult
  22. I know a lot of people will point to 2021 being the year that the Bills should've won the SB. We started that season 7-6 and looked a lot like we do so far this season. Wildly inconsistent on offense, some terrible defensive games, and losing some very winnable close games. Just gotta make the playoffs and anything can happen
  23. Do we have snap counts yet? I honestly can't recall a single play with Von Miller on the field. I at least noticed him the previous 2 weeks even though he didn't really do anything. I get that it takes a while to come back from an ACL injury at his age, but he's been a complete non-factor. There's no reason he should be on the active roster if he's going to be this limited in games.
