Close your eyes McDermott haters…he’s a top 10 HC
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Top 10 returning head coaches. As there are only 25 returning head coaches McD did not in fact make the top 3rd. -
Josh Allen.......over/under 10.5 Rushing TD's???
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll take the under. He's only topped 9 in a season once. Josh has put up 8, 9, 8, 6, 7, and 15 rushing TDs by season. -
I'm taking the over, but think its close. Last year totals Dawson - 22 Dalton - 73 Dawson put up a career low in a season where he missed 4 games due to injury, and was probably limited by the injury in a fair number of games he did play in. Dalton had a very promising rookie season with 7th most catches by a TE for the year. I think Dalton will become a better player from year 1 to year 2 and in combination with Diggs/Davis leaving he'll get a higher target share to end up with 90 catches. I'm a huge Dawson hater but even I think he can make it to 20+ catches.

How would Buffalo perform with Kirk Cousins?
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Over the last 4 seasons with Allen we've averaged 12 regular season wins and have 5 total playoff wins. I think Cousins with the exact rosters we've had (minus Allen) would have more like 9 or 10 regular season wins per year and MAYBE 1 playoff win. While I think Cousins is good enough to beat the Skylar Thompson Dolphins or the TJ Watt-less Steelers, he wouldn't have gotten us the 2 seed to host those teams. There's also the salary cap consideration that Cousins has been getting PAID since 2020 and Josh was on his rookie contract (until the most recent season) so the roster would've been noticeably worse. That would easily knock another win off per season -
Bass struggling at minicamp (and now at training camp)
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Started the year 9/9. Then he missed 2 FG (a 52 and 53 yarder) against the Giants in week 6 which very nearly cost us the game. McD lost faith in him after that and chose to punt instead of attempt 50+ yard FGs multiple times. After the 9/9 start Bass went 15/20 in the regular season and a mind boggling 2/5 in the playoffs. I think he would've already been released by now if it weren't for the ridiculous contract Beane gave him. -
I wonder how different the narrative around Josh would be if he was a stat chaser. He had 5+ turnovers last year on plays that either did not hurt us (arm punts) or he had no other choice (last play of Patriots game or 4th down against Dolphins). It's like Josh has a switch in his head to turn on 100% HERO BALL when the situation calls for it and he couldn't care less if it's a turnover that hurts his MVP chances. I realize other QBs will throw arm punt INTs or have a hail mary intercepted, but nobody is remotely close to the number of turnovers Josh has on plays like that. Imagine if Josh threw the ball away or ate a sack on 4th down like Lamar '2x MVP' Jackson did in a miserable 10-17 loss to the Steelers this season. Wouldn't help the Bills at all but would've helped his personal turnover number. 4th & 2 at PIT 23 (0:13 - 2nd) (No Huddle, Shotgun) L.Jackson pass incomplete deep right to Z.Flowers [C.Holcomb]. 4th & 7 at BAL 28 (0:15 - 4th) (Shotgun) L.Jackson sacked at BLT 22 for -6 yards (T.Watt). PENALTY on PIT-T.Watt, Unsportsmanlike Conduct, 15 yards, enforced between downs. Or if he wanted to pad yardage late in the 4th Q down multiple scores like MVP hopeful Brock Purdy. 49ers were down 31-17 with 12 seconds left and Purdy threw back to back dump offs for 69 yards. The next time Josh does something like that would be the first of his career. 1st & 10 at SF 20 (0:12 - 4th) (Shotgun) B.Purdy pass short left to C.McCaffrey pushed ob at SF 48 for 28 yards (J.Tufele). 1st & 10 at SF 48 (0:04 - 4th) (Shotgun) B.Purdy pass short right to R.McCloud pushed ob at CIN 11 for 41 yards (D.Hill). Penalty on SF-S.Burford, Ineligible Downfield Pass, declined. If Josh cared about stats he would've had at least 5 fewer turnovers and at least 100+ yards of garbage time dumpoffs. Everything else remaining the same do you think he wins MVP last year?

The Chiefs had a 23-20 lead when they got the ball back with 7+ minutes left. They had the lead so the main priority is to drain the clock. Don't forget that Mahomes threw a terrible INT on 3rd and 20 and got absolutely bailed out by the refs with a garbage DPI call. How often does a trailing team score a go-ahead TD with no time left on the clock after a 7+ minute drive? I'd be surprised if it happens more than once or twice in any given season

How important is superbowl experience?
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Guess we found McDermott's burner account -
We already have Von Miller on the team, we just need to ask his girlfriend how to get out of choke-holds.
-
And for what it's worth in the Jaguars game Diggs was actually open. Allen made a decent throw and it got wrestled away from Diggs

You missed this one 3rd & 20 at BUF 40 (6:27 - 3rd) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass deep left intended for G.Davis INTERCEPTED by K.Fuller at WAS 19. K.Fuller to WAS 19 for no gain (G.Davis). WAS-K.Fuller was injured during the play. I remember a post on Reddit someone put together a list for the top 5 least damaging INTs of the season for the entire league. Josh had 3 of the top 5. So yea, throwing 3 arm punt INTs over the season isn't some huge number, but when Josh has thrown more of those than the rest of the league combined I think it's a fair thing to bring up.

What NFL rules changes would you like to see?
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Start enforcing false start penalties correctly. It drives me nuts watching tackles move ~2 seconds before the snap and the refs don't call it (most of the time) because the guy is "adjusting his back foot". The back foot adjustment is NOT part of the written rule. Lane 'false starts every play' Johnson is making a HOF career out of it. -
Von Miller +25,000 DPOY Odds
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Evidence? You do realize Von Miller played in 14 games (including playoffs) last season? It's understandable if you didn't notice that he was playing...the man was a ghost out there and finished the season with 3 tackles and no sacks. Watching him in any of those games should be all the evidence anyone needs to know he's a washed up bum. -
Von Miller +25,000 DPOY Odds
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's a BIG difference between age 33 and age 35 for edge rushers. If statmuse is correct there's been 19 seasons in NFL history where a player age 35+ had 10+ sacks. There's also a big difference between 10+ sacks and the 4.5 line I came up with. Von Miller is a washed up bum though so i'll take the under. Wager: 100 units of pride I'll bump the thread in January to celebrate if I win, or earlier If I lose to eat some crow. -
Von Miller +25,000 DPOY Odds
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Von Miller that had 8 sacks in 11 games was 'only' 33 years old and was not coming off a major knee injury. The 2024 Von Miller is 35 years old and coming off a major knee injury. I'd put the betting line for his sack total on the season at 4.5 -

2nd worst contract on the team only behind Von Miller
-
The contract we gave him is going to make any trade difficult. Knox has a 7.7mm active cap hit for the coming season and if we trade him we'll incur 17mm in dead cap (the date of the trade can spread that out over the next 2 seasons). Pre June 1st trade: 2024 dead cap: 17.5mm Post June 1st trade: 2024 dead cap: 5.0mm 2025 dead cap: 12.5mm The other thing to consider with a trade is what would we get back? Knox just had the worst year of his career posting 22 catches for 186 yards and 2 TDs with 4 drops in 13 games. Saying he had a bad year is an understatement. I can't imagine we'd do better than a 5th rd pick. Given that he is not a lockerroom cancer (ala Diggs) and already restructured his contract this offseason to take a paycut, I think it's pretty clear we're going to stick with him this season. The best we can hope for is he improves on last season and can fix the drop issues. It's hard to believe he'll ever be worth that contract though

Chiefs Bills Playoff Replay / Bass Kicking
DabillsDaBillsDaBills replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he got the yips after the Giants game when he missed 2 50+ yard FGs and nearly cost us the game. He started the year 9/9 up until the Giants game then went 15/20 to finish the regular season. McD decided to punt instead of have Bass attempt a 50-55 yarder multiple times in this stretch. He was a mind boggling 2/5 in the playoffs. I imagine he was a very real cut candidate, but his active cap hit is 4.4mm and dead cap would be 7.4mm.
