  1. IMO, Beane has to be looking around to sign another CB after June 1st. Elam stays even if that happens.
  2. 90 players currently signed. With the international player that leaves 1 spot left before any musical chairs start. Spotrac is caught up with the UDFAs and only the rookies left to account for. I figure around $1.7M of Top 51 cap to sign the rookies. Spotrac has Bills at $2.98M minus the $1.7M leaves about $1.28M before the Tre money gets released June 1st. Gives Beane enough to sign 1-2 cheap FAs with enough left over for PS and season cash. All in all, Beane did OK with his cap so far considering all the changes. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/_/year/2024 https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cba/rookie-scale
  3. During Tommy Sherman's Buffalo Bills career, he had a 100% completion record and a 50% TD%.
  4. We drove in the snow to the airport to greet the Bills after the Boston Patriot game that put them in the playoff in '64. That was nuts. The Bills moved the flight to Rochester. Fans were running around on the tarmac.
  5. Moments like this is not all on the coaches. Morse and Allen could have adjusted the blocking scheme. I'd like Josh to take charge more of things like this. He's a willy vet now.
  6. That is the first game I can remember as a kid. My parents and older brothers were fixed around the radio. The start of the 1964 season, I was hooked.
  7. He was incorrect. If they get a 4th and 5th it would be: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6.
  8. The thing is Morrow was signed early in the year. These signing typically have to have some sort of guaranteed money. Bills had no idea if they would have picks for a guy like Ulofoshino. Jones on a vet minimum with no guarantee is a no-brainer but once again, he wasn't on the team at the time of the Morrow signing. Morrow still can make the team when Ulofoshino ends up on IR with bunions. The way I see it there is going to be some fierce competition for the depth LB spots after Milano, Bernard, Williams. Spector (with his ST play) probably is penciled in, but camp will decide that for sure.
  9. Enjoy watching these Embedded Draft videos every year. That being said, just like the swallows returning to San Juan Capistrano we also get the return of the yearly Beane vs McDermott power struggle, Beane got fleeced on his trade, Beane is lying about how much he like a player, among the other classic draft nuggets. I do like this year's new twist on the "Beane doesn't have a clue on the importance of the 5th Year Option". It was a nice change of pace. Can't wait for next year's draft video! My favorite part was when Beane replied to Laura Pegula's question about who they were going to pick with, "We're just going to keep on trading. We're going to get fourteen 5ths". That was gold Jerry, gold!
  10. I too agree with Brady and the OL. VPG has had a lot of college starts. Also sounds like he is a pretty smart football player. If he can start and not be a liability, having McGovern back at LG could really benefit him and fast-track his development. Having Torrence going into his 2nd year should anchor him with Brown better. That would mean Knox (when playing) can help with blocking but release quicker and more often into his passing routes. Sounds like Davis is pretty good at pass blocking. If all these things can come together Josh could have cleaner pockets to play from. I've been waiting for the day Josh can stay calm in the pocket for a little longer. I think once he gets use to that he will be deadly.
  11. If Rice misses a lot of games, it puts even more pressure on 35-year-old Kelce to not let his game decline.
  12. Hearing the input for some of the posters is the reason I am on the board.
  13. All true Shaw but Beane, the teams coaching staff, and the scouts have a lot more detailed info than just players' tape. Interviewing players, former coaches and just the scouting process itself gives them a lot more input than fans get. College players stats/play can also be driven by the scheme and other talent on their team. How these guys transfer their skills to the NFL and to a particular NFL teams' scheme can't be easy for even an informed fan. Heck, the Bills staff even get input from current players already on the team about these guys. Sprinkle in some analytics on these players and that's a lot of details to consider. I see a lot of people at OBD who collectively, have input in putting together the teams' draft board.
  14. Claypoole - 873 yards Samuel - 851 yards Hollins - 690 yards Shakir - 611 yards Hamler - 381 yards Total of 3406 yards for their career highs including both Claypoole and Hamler in their rookie years. 2023 Buffalo Bills entire WR yardage was 2776. When I can reasonably assume Shakir will surpass his 2023 totals I fail to see how "impossible" this scenario is. We can subtract Claypoole's numbers and substitute Coleman (both would be rookie numbers). When I add a small factor of Josh Allen throwing footballs to these guys compared to the QBs throwing balls to Samuel, Hollins and Hamler, I can see the 3406 being reached and maybe, even higher. Add in Kincaid, Cook, Knox and Davis and I can see a scenario where Josh Allen surpasses his 4306 yards total from last season. I will be a broken record adding that the real factors in this year's offense is the perceived improve OL play and a more experienced Brady. Yes, the Bills WR room can improve its talent but it's not nearly the disaster some fans are insinuating. I'm going to wait to see how camp and the season progresses.
  15. Pretty cool video. Construction seems to be moving along well. Can't wait to see a game there. That's a lot of steel and concrete!
  16. LOL. You think Brandon Beane's "life strategy" is dependent on Chase Claypoole's career outcome in Buffalo? Claypoole has been a "knucklehead". He's down to his last chance in his NFL career. No one is waiting on him, the choice is his. FTR, I have known many family members and friends who changed their life ways in their middle 20s. The only one who knows what kind of effort Chase Claypoole will put in is Chase.
  17. They haven't "given" money to Chase yet. He will want over $30M AAV. Higgins is an UFA next year. They used the tag because they WILL NOT have both next season on the team. Higgins will want over $20M AAV. They got a lot of cap space next year, but they are not signing both to high dollar long term contracts. Not with that owner and not with Burrows contract kicking in. It's all-in for them this year and the owner still has $23M in cap space!
  18. Agree. I know the WR thing is tough for us fans. I too would like more talent. But that being said I am holding out hope that this year OL will be the best in front of Josh Allen in his career. Everyone will be watching Coleman and Samuels in camp (as will I), but I so want to see if VPG can impress enough to get the lion share of starts during the upcoming season. Brown, Torrence, (a surprising VPG), McGovern Dawkins, as starters would be wonderful for me. I want to see what Josh Allen can do when he has time to stand in the pocket more than scramble around buying time. I think he can tear it up with the ball-catchers currently on this team. Is it too early to write to Santa?
  19. With what is left at FA WRs I think Beane goes to camp with what he has. I believe that the competition for the bottom 2-3 WR slots will be heated. If it becomes apparent that there are questions with the remaining 1-2 slots (I'm pretty sure they keep 6) this year, then there should be plenty of WR cuts to choose from at cutdown time.
  20. I don't expect Hyde to sign with another team. He may be healthy enough (medically cleared) to play. I get the feeling if Micah has hung them up, he will be in and out of camp this year with the Bills as a "guest". IF it looks like the Bills could use him, he may consider signing for whatever role they would want him to play. An old Micah Hyde IMO is better than a depth player like Hamlin or Williamson. Hell, I'd consider signing Micah with 500K guaranteed to come to camp just to bring along Bishop and give Mike Edwards the low down of what Bills Safeties need to do.
  21. But it is not the current cap allocated $'s on any year that causes concern. Dawkins did an extension and is coming in cheap this year. McGovern and Edwards are currently fixed, and Brown has not extended yet. Add in the rookie C (who hopefully ends up starting soon) and Beane is putting "resources" in the position. The Bills are reaping some cap benefit this season. But they have to look forward to when Brown signs and McGovern in his last contract year in 2025. Let alone trying to lock up Torrence at the end of 2025 (or 2026). This is what I mean by not looking at a snapshot of the spending, it's way too fluid looking forward.
  22. The 5th year option is not "cheap" if the player is not up to the caliber of the cost. I agree with a lot you said in your post. In Groot's situation, the 5th year option of $13M is not out of line one way or the other very much. Being the Bills are light in talent on the DL next season (after they dump Von), it may work out. Typically, the 5th year option is great for teams when the player is way over-achieving. It gets them one cheaper year from what the average will be on their new extension. Other than that it could also have negative effects on other players, as you stated.
