  1. Who is saying $15M a year? There is one NFL RB making more than that, CMC. Running back contracts have been in decline the last few years vs the total team cap. Going into training camp this season the Buffalo Bills are the NFLs lowest RB cap spending team. So, the Bills should go lower? Anyone thinking that any UDFA off the streets is better than Cook is a fool. What cracks me up is the INSANE position that "NO RB SHOULD EVER BE SIGNED TO ANY 2ND CONTRACT".
  2. Most here don't see what we are saying. It has got to a point where 99% of NFL RBs are now put into a category where they are all considered the same by way too many fans. If Cook plays well his last 2 years and is in good health, you offer him a "reasonable" 3-year contract. If he and his agent refuse and get more money somewhere else, great. Get a comp pick. It seems to me fans have now combined the reality of not resigning RBs to huge $ 4-year contracts with the overreaction of never resigning any RB to any length or any dollar amount. As with most things in life the truth is somewhere in the middle.
  3. Yes, you keep him. What also happens is less draft capital is needed for the position. More chances for other offensive talent to be taken.
  4. WRONG. Every year we go through this. Google it and he will see they do count. The Top 51 is only before the season starts.
  5. It seems to me a lot of top RBs sign huge 2nd contracts that never end up seeing the final years of the contract. If Cook is playing well, it would behoove him and his agent to sign a 3-year deal for "reasonable" money. I got no problem paying a very good RB who fits a team's scheme and system $3M-$4M per year.
  6. Nothing about your post, just your profile name. The last few threads I've been reading has had arguments about populations growth, buying vs renting, NFL v WrestleMania and a myriad of other foolishness that I have to leave or start telling some posters what I really think of them. LOL I saw your profile name and decided instead of reading more BS, I'm going to watch the classic gambling movie "The Cincinatti Kid"! Steve McQueen, Tuesday Weld, Ann Margaret and Edward G Robinson sounds a lot better than what I have been reading. FWIW to anyone who cares, the movie is free on TUBI. Thanks "Kid"!
  7. Don't see this guy having a chance to make the 53. Maybe not even the PS. He is an amazing athlete and maybe, just maybe he brings in a working example of techniques that could be useful to other players. Laugh all you want, but McDermott has been talking to players about this stuff for years. If he is lost in practice, they will move on to someone else. The "outcry" about this is laughable.
  8. I'm curious to see if Shakir and Samuel (along with another WR) are bunched up. With their quickness and blocking ability it could be something that works well.
  9. You want to see an example of "kicking the can down the road", just look at what Miami has done with Hill. This Waddle signing is because Hill will not be on the team in 2026. The last year of his contract 2006 (age 32) is $56M cap hit! LOL, that's crazy. Hill's last season with the Dolphins is next year. I don't look at this Waddle signing in a vacuum. The Dolphins have some serious cap issues to deal with next year and they still haven't signed their franchise QB. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/19119/tyreek-hill
  10. IF you are moving on from Tua you don't want to be put in a situation where the current team is. The Dolphins could easily be a playoff contending team. You don't get a good draft pick with that. That's why you blow up the team this season or you sign Tua. Miami has a total cap hit for next season of $112M for Hill, Chubb, Ramsey and a 34-year-old Armstead. That's why I agree with what @Bleeding Bills Bluesaid about them being in a "pickle". They are.
  11. The WR market "bursting" will be team specific driven IMO. You have a mediocre QB you NEED elite WRs. Those teams will pay. You have an elite QB, you can't pay everyone. What I see with the new cap situation is this. The days of attempting to put that Superbowl team together with franchise players in positions of QB, DE, LT, WR, CB and let's say another team scheme specific player is getting hard to do. The cap keeps going up but the elite position $s seem to be outpacing the whole. The "KC blueprint" isn't unique. A few years ago, in regard to WR cost, was exactly what the Patriots did.
  12. Let's start with the obvious. The $56M cap hit for Hill in 2026 is NEVER going to happen. No way is there a restructure for a then 32-year-old WR. The Waddle signing is proof they believe he will take over WR1 in 2026. Waddle contract extension doesn't kick in until that year. Waddle is playing under his 5th year option next season. Jalen Ramsey's contract is unsustainable. He will be cut next year which in essence they pay him $25M to leave and get $1M in cap relief. If they keep him, they pay $26M in 2025 and owe $18M in void dead cap in 2026. That tells me he is GONE. No way they cost him out for $44M to keep him in 2025. You are totally right about him being gone in 2025. Armstead is a puzzlement for them. I think it's all on how he plays this season. I guess it depends on Eichenberg or maybe Wynn. Right now, I see a good chance he is gone too, but they only get $4M in cap relief. Chubb, like you say is another quandary. I think they do 1 of him or Armstead. They can't take dead cap on all of them. They are ALL-IN this season for sure. The insane thing is they haven't done anything (to this point) about Tua. If this was going on in Buffalo this board would melt down. LOL. OBJ is once again a FA. As I said above, the Dolphins are ALL-IN this year because next year will be crazy for them.
  13. I agree Muppy. Although it seems that a lot of fans (also, many on this board) have become embittered with success but no Lombardi. We all want that, but whether that is achieved or not should not take away from the joy of being an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. At least not IMO. Every time I start to think that way, I hear my 92-year-old jokingly saying, "I hope they can win a Superbowl soon, I don't have much time left". She watches every snap of every game, year after year, and still finds the joy in it all. I do hope that some of the bitter fans can take some solace in that type of fandom. If I can keep that hope, I will be interested in what is happening with my Buffalo Bills, win/lose/or draw!
  14. I apologize if I lost all the trains of thoughts in the thread. I thought you were part of the WR "crisis" group.
  15. They became ineffective. Thus, they were replaced with targets moving towards Kincaid and Shakir. Kincaid and Shakir responded with catch rates of over 80% each. If Davis and Diggs were catching that, they both would still be on the team. You say, "they are worse". I say, "they looked pretty good to me". The answer will only be obtained during the season.
  16. Your critique of the Bills organization as a whole is fine and has balanced the board out for years. There are all kinds of fans in the world, I find it best to accept them all IF they are truly fans.
  17. Shakir has gained Josh's trust. His ceiling is now raised very high. I agree with most that he will get a lot of slot snaps, but his real top line worth is how well he can do when lined up outside. If he can excel outside too, it makes him much more of a weapon and stresses the defense. The Bills tried a lot of WR screens with not great results. I would like to see Shakir, Samuel and a good blocking WR (MVS/Coleman) bunched up. Some interesting options could open up with plays like that. I guess my real hope is seeing Shakir (and others) in roles not typical in recent Bills offenses.
  18. He should be CB#3 for boundary corners. Not sure how much he will also see in dime.
  19. It's the flavor of the week. Jury is out for the Texans, and we all have to wait to see how they react to how teams play them this year. I remember this team called the "Chargers" who were supposed to be tearing it up the last couple of years.
  20. Good grief. Diggs and Davis were on the field almost the entire time. MAYBE Josh wouldn't of ran so much if these 2 "top" Bills receivers did a better job getting open and catching the football. Go look at both of their game logs for the end of the season. They both sucked. Shakir and Kincaid excelled because it got to the point that Josh wasn't even looking for Davis and Diggs was regressing (for whatever reason). This gives me some hope that subtracting those 2 from the roster may be an overall benefit in the long run. So, we now have 2 different opinions of why Josh ran so much.
  21. What is it with people owning dogs but never caring and spending time with them. I don't own one because I know I couldn't spend the amount of time a dog needs.
  22. It's a huge year for him. He has to prove he is worthy of replacing Douglas next season. As others have said, he needs to replace the "grabbing" with good technique. I'm sure he knows that like everyone else. His progress, or lack of, will be one of the top 5 things to look for in camp.
  23. Post June 1st cap space after you deduct to replace Tre's spot in the Top 51, sign the rookies, keep the $4M minimum for PS, that leaves Beane with about $5M in true cap space. He will want a minimum of $3M for IR replacements/etc. Leaves him $2M-$3M that he could use to sign a decent FA (not a WR) who wants to come to Buffalo on a one-year deal. I got to think he's looking on defense for that type of FA.
  24. Well done. Also, when Tre moves off the roster he will need to be replaced in the Top 51. That will cost another $1M.
