Buffalo Bills 2021 practice squad players
ColoradoBills replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have 6 former PS players this year on the 53 roster. Wallace, Obada, Kumerow, Zimmer, Jackson and Smith. As a development/emergency squad I think it has a good purpose. -
Brandon Beanes Presser today…informative
ColoradoBills replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He will sign a "one day" contract before he retires so he can go into the HOF as a Bill. -
Well the "gentlemen's agreement" were nothing but fan speculation. Next Hollister is a FA now. He and his agent no doubt are looking to get him signed to a 53 roster somewhere. Morris (some thought maybe Becker) was next man up for the PS. There is a chance no team wants Hollister on the 53 then he will have to look for a PS team. Maybe that could be Buffalo. During the season the PS does have a lot of turnover.

If I was still a gambling man I would think they are looking for an OT cut from another team. -

Wow all former players. Beane and McDermott definitely keeping the entire band together. -

It is unusual to say the least. One option could be that they evaluate the 11 in the beginning of the season. If there is no early injuries maybe a move is made to get that down to 10 and another position is brought in. Maybe? -
Bills cuts to get to 53 [final info in the OP]

You and others have made that point but now is the time to see whether or not Beane and McDermott's plan this year works. They seem to be going in with the continuity being extremely important. Iron sharpening iron type of reasoning is part of that. Guess all that is left for me is watching to see what unfolds in a long season. -

Well Beane has set his roster and he and his guys have "crossed the Rubicon". All that is left is to see if you or he are correct. -
Buffalo Bills Cap Space (Start of Season)
ColoradoBills replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All true. Worth mentioning as I did in my OP is that teams are still under the "Top 51" rule until the start of the season. I also agree that Dawkins in a good candidate for a small restructure. -

You stop that right now mister. Everyone knows TE is a bust! -

I'm over this TE thing but the question for me was Hollister IMO is better and more reliable than Sweeney. Sweeney has been healthy for 6 games in 2 years and has 8 total receptions. Beane will probably prove me wrong as he has in the past! -
Buffalo Bills Cap Space (Start of Season)
ColoradoBills replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes they do. From an article 7 days ago. They have counted against the cap for years. https://www.ninersnation.com/2021/8/25/22641311/2021-practice-squad-primer-everything-to-know-from-the-rules-to-the-eligibility There is no limit to how much a team can pay a player on the practice squad, although the practice squad contracts do count against the salary cap. -

Hopefully a waived CB and his agent see the need and sign with the Bills PS. -

Yep, the old 80/20 rule. Know it well. I am over the TE thing. Bills O will have up to 5 receivers on the field at times. I'm sure some linemen will be used for "eligible receivers" in short yardage situations. Maybe Sweeney can get and stay healthy. Onward and upward. Go Bills! -

Once again Hollister is a 4 year vet and not subject to waivers. He can sign with anyone. If that doesn't happen he could come back to Buffalo as a PS player. Odds are someone will want him on their 53. -

I agree that IF no team signs him to their 53 that Buffalo is the best place for him. -

Hollister is a free agent and can sign with any team he chooses. -
Buffalo Bills Cap Space (Start of Season)
ColoradoBills replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is what it is but after hearing Beane today the team seems set for the season. Anyone thinking of bringing in more expensive players this year will be disappointed IMO. Like I said I expect a "restructure" on a player soon to give himself some "pocket money" for the season. -

I couldn't agree more. It is a head scratcher. Hollister on the 53 and Sweeney cut seems like was the right move. Sweeney would of cleared waivers and could of been on the PS. -
I had hoped the Bills could of had enough initial space to maybe pick up a player in a thin position but things are tight right now. I used Spotrac for my numbers. The "Top 51" rule is still in effect until next week but I am using the Total Season Start dollars. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/ As of September 2nd. Current Cap Space: $2.9M Adjusted Cap: $100k (Current Cap once season starts) Beane and his "bean counters" did a good job getting under without restructures. EDIT: Updated for September 2nd

What roster are you looking at? The official roster on the Bills site shows both Hollister and Ferguson gone. Depth chart shows LS position as blank. -

I wouldn't worry about that. He will get a bump in pay and he is Josh's buddy. He has a good chance to start on a SB contender.
