Just got in from enjoying the beautiful Colorado Springs weather. 70 the first week of March is nice! Started watching the combine and it's nice to hear there is value in the 3-5 round picks at TE. Any of you draft guru's got a couple of good names in the 4th round at TE? For a TE2 he's got to be a decent blocker not just a catcher.

Where's the salary cap for the Bills?
ColoradoBills replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Saints are cooked. They will be lucky to win 6-7 games this year. They are also currently $42M over the cap. But no worries they Taysom Hill at QB. -
I tend to agree with your points. Someone is going to pay Wallace $9M+ per year.
-
Agree. Give Dawson his $8M per but I would like to see a 4-year deal.

150 draft prospects threaten to boycott Combine
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
If 1 or 150 players don't want to attend the combine it's their right not to go. If 1 or up to 32 teams think it will affect their decisions, that's their business too. The NFL is having a "job fair", show up or don't show up. If X amount don't show up and they want to invite others, do it or don't do it. Why is this a big deal? -
What would it take to get Chase Young?
ColoradoBills replied to Weatherman's topic in The Stadium Wall
No worries the Combine is starting in a week and a half. Then we can comment on threads about trading up from #25 to #4. -
While I disagree with a lot of things the NFL has done lately, I am not losing interest at all.

Derek Carr in line for $40 million per year extension
ColoradoBills replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, QBs typically sign 4 year deals. 5 year deals with some "elite" QBs. Taking away Mahomes 10 year extremely unique deal, Josh Allen is the only 6 year deal I've ever heard of. Teams and the player have to agree to the length and we will all have to see if 5-6 (or more) years become the norm. -
Taiwan Jones on About The Game Pod (Squib related)
ColoradoBills replied to essential's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes the clock starts when a player from receiving team touches the ball "in the field of play". I don't know about "giving themselves up" ruling. A player can flop on a ball get up and start running too. Technically on a normal play clock runs until the ball carrier is touched on the ground or he runs out-of-bounds. You are right with the comment of having Bass kick short but close to the endzone. That is used a lot by the Bills. Edit: Clock only starts when receiving team touches. Kicking team cannot advance the ball. -

Taiwan Jones on About The Game Pod (Squib related)

You got that right Shaw. Heath as ST coordinator should already know that the squib "should" be the call and he as STC needs to confirm that with McDermott and then make sure the kickoff team knows exactly what to do. It's Heath's job to make sure that gets done not the other way around! -
Beane wants to protect Josh. How he does that we all can speculate. I'm sure Kromer is going over all the tape of all the current OL Bills players. He will report to McDermott and Beane. They will come up with the plan and pursue it. I'm sure the plan will not only be about next season but adding to the pipeline for future years. I'm happy!
-
I totally agree that the OL is key to the Bills success. Giving Josh another second before he needs to move or decide to run would be awesome. I'm not saying the Bills don't need great WRs BUT giving Josh time will make average receivers look good. An elite OL makes the running game and screen passes work with cheap RBs too.

Derek Carr in line for $40 million per year extension
ColoradoBills replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. Per Josh Allen's current contract he is scheduled to make an average of $43M from 2026 thru 2028. Those years will be such a bargain. With Josh's contract all this "window" stuff concerning a QB contract will not really materialize. The Darek Carr's of the NFL will be signing for over $60M at a minimum in those years. -

My question would be, "does the single bye team in each conference necessarily equate to the BEST team in each conference"? If the answer is no, then why do these 2 teams get the bye in the first place? It's always been a bit of a debate, but I think the 7 playoff team/17 game schedule only compounds the issue.
-
As to point #1. I am not a fan of only one "bye" team at all. You pointed out one of the main reasons. The schedule already pits top conference teams to play each other every year. The 17th game adds to that with another non-conference ranked games. Every year there will be a team that just draws a much easier schedule to give them a much better chance to draw the one bye. Point #2 is a little more tricky. It can and has happened in the old playoff formula but just the mere fact of adding another playoff team gives more of a chance for a lower seeded team to win a game they probably should of lost. Football is one and out and not a "series" like in other major sports. I think it waters down the whole process. I know I'm in the minority here, but I thought the old 6 team playoff formula was as good as it could get. All this is caused by attempting to get another team in the mix with the 7 team scenario. Adding a 17th or even an 18 game schedule is a whole other question. The longer season can be debated but it seems they could of done that with still maintaining the 6 team playoff scenario. At least that is how I see it.
