  1. They are pretty thin at WR too. Thomas missed all of last year and only played half a season in 2020. They got the unusual ST/WR Deonte Harris and that's about it. Marques Callaway when called upon heavy last year did not play all that well.
  2. Armstead leaves in FA even though NO restructured every player on their team. What's up with that.
  3. Good catch on Star. I didn't see that or hear about it from another poster. The June 1st designations keep all the dead money on this year's books until June 1st. It gets moved after that. No team has dead money assigned yet for 2023. It's a puzzlement as to the $5.2M amount.
  4. Just to bring up this point again. IF Beane tendered a 2nd is a very good chance no one would have given that up for Bates. So the Bills have him for 1 year at $4M and have to try to sign him for a long term contract next year. If he plays well he will cost more than that. Maybe Beane want to see what long term deal Bates can work out and then decide if it makes sense. In the long run there is a chance they get Bates cheaper than what they thought it would cost them next year. Bates on the other hand might not sign a contract that he believes is too low. If that happens he comes back to BUF for one more year hoping for a bigger payday next year when he is a UFA. FWIW I also thought a 2nd round tender was going to happen but now I just want to see how this plays out.
  5. Personally, I thought Beane was going to put a 2nd round tender on Bates. He didn't but one thing we don't know is if any negotiations were going on for a longer term contract between the parties. If Bates and his agent did talk a longer (say 2-3 year deal) he may have wanted more than Beane wanted to pay for his limited play. The positive that might happen is a team offers a 2 or 3 year contract that Beane likes. Let's put it this way. If Beane did put the 2nd round on him it's $4M for 1 year and then if Bates plays well he will want a bigger deal. This way other teams show what his market is today and gives an offer. If Bates signs one it may be agreeable to Beane. If Bates only gets lower than he believes he's worth offers he comes back to Buffalo for a one year deal on the cheap and reloads for a bigger payday next year. I for one am more than willing to let this play out and see what happens.
  6. I can agree with everything you said. If not Araiza then go after Stout with a 6th. The main point we agree on, these later picks have almost zero chance of cracking the roster so go after "special teams" type players or use those picks to move up.
  7. CB, IOL and WR in the first 3 picks. The punter if he is available with the first 6th. The rest will be BPAs with an eye on DB and OL and RB. It's going to be hard for any rookie after the 4th making the 53 so that punter pick is probably OK to do. Heck, I would even use the 2 - 6th rounders to go get Araiza if they like him a lot.
  8. Bills have only 64 currently on the roster after Beane did his last few signings. 8 rookies added takes it to 72. He is not going to sign 18 UDFAs. I expect more "just above vet minimum" signings like Johnson and Mancz. Might see a vet CB a little higher than that. IMO I think everything is going pretty good so far!
  9. My god, Atlanta has no WRs! Am I missing something? Good luck Marcus, you got Kyle Pitt at TE and Mike Davis at RB.
  10. I'm pretty sure that the yearly signing bonus for the rookies count against the Top 51 even if they end up under the Top 51. The Bills 4th Round pick has a $195k signing bonus so one-fourth would be counted against cap plus your $5k estimate. It's still way under what most fans think the rookie class costs. Good job with your OP!
  11. I'm hoping on a "dark horse" small school/sleeper rookie QB. Late Day 3 or UDFA. If he has something he could be on PS for a year. Not a backup for this year but wouldn't it be great to have a 'Josh clone" as backup for years to come. Cole Kelley WE Louisiana. 6'7" 245#. Has the same "weaknesses" that Josh had coming out. I laugh at the similarities in his highlights. https://nflsapient.com/2022/02/15/nfl-draft-sleeper-small-school-prospects-qb-cole-kelley/
  12. He'd be sculking around and known as "The Phantom of the First Energy".
  13. Great presser. Bills fans are lucky to have Brandon Beane at the wheel.
  14. yep. BB also should call himself into his office and fire himself as GM.
  15. Pats* can't even sign their own FAs. I'm starting to think they may be tanking.
  16. So, if Spotrac is correct the Texans only take a $16.2M dead cap hit for this year. They got out pretty easy. I got a brother living outside of Houston and he says fans are happy he is gone!
  17. Got to rest the starters for the last game of the season.
  18. Sounds like Browns fans finally got a reason to go to the airport! Could be a hell of a "meet and greet".
  19. Well, where does Baker end up?
  20. Is Von Miller taking the Bills to the Superbowl? Here you go @muppy.
  21. Panthers exercising his 5th year option was a big mistake.

  23. Just for fun, what if Aaron knew nothing about this and after this signing he decides to re-retire?
