  1. Once MA gets acclimated, he will have a bunch of schemed punts in his arsenal. Sideline directional punts could net 55+ yards without a chance of a return.
  2. Rumors here in Colorado are Javonte Williams will be bulimic by halftime.
  3. There aren't Piggly Wiggly's in NJ.
  4. @ScottLawhas all the details.
  5. Local sports news here in Colorado is hyped to see the Broncos performance against the mighty Bills team. They are also excited to go to Buffalo and most want to see Russell Wilson start.
  6. If it ends up a full year for Watson, his game has to suffer. He won't have rust to knock off in 2023, it will be corrosion.
  7. So true. I will say that Blackshear had a great junior year at VT. Over 1,000 yards rushing and receiving. He seems a much better player than the William's and Wade's of recent years. I hope he develops on the PS this year and can be a RB3 or better next year after Devin leaves.
  8. All very possible and I would think the handful of bubble guys all have pro's and con's. Not sure about Tenuta. IMO it's not "coach speak" when McDermott says it's so hard to pick these last guys. I got to believe that Kumerow didn't help himself with that after catch fumble and Hodgins didn't hurt himself catching 9 passes. I'll end my opinions with this. I refuse to believe that when Beane signed Kumerow to a 1-year contract McDermott immediately put his name on the "locked" list.
  9. If you mean that Hodgins could make the team because of his WR skills this year and not need to have ST skills because he will be a healthy scratch to start the season, I totally agree. I'll add that there is only a need for 6 or 7 "core" (4 way) special teamers. Guys that are in addition to K, P, LS, PR, KR's. Not every depth guy HAS to contribute to special teams. Then again, your post could have been sarcastic! LOL.
  10. If Gilliam is a TE in your totals, I agree with almost all of it. The only difference I see is exactly what I'm talking about. Kumerow is cut (and goes to PS) and another LB is kept. Bills kept 6 LBs last year. I say that because Smalley said in his presser that ALL of the LBs are excelling in ST roles. My opinion notwithstanding, you may be totally correct.
  11. Daron Payne, Johnathan Allen and Matt Ioannidis.
  12. I am 100% positive that McDermott and Beane will not take any extreme view on STs. They will weigh the player(s) depth worth, special teams needs and long-term player development. A prime player to debate (at least for me) is Kumerow. It's tough to do because ST "stats" other than % of snaps are hard to accumulate. ST positions if you will also have different value, gunners and gunner defenders (if that is a term) are more important than a typical guy on Punt Returns for example. Kumerow can fill the "gunner" role, but the Bills use Jones and Neal as the primary gunners. I get that from Smalley's press conference. So Kumerow is a depth gunner. He gets a lot of other ST snaps, but to fully answer this question you have to take the following into consideration. 1. How much better (if any) is Kumerow's entire ST worth compared to another player that will fill it? 2. What is Kumerow's worth at his primary position comparted to the player he would displace? 3. Can another player who may not be as effective in that ST role develop into a ST player as good or better than Kumerow? I've stressed this multiple times. Kumerow never had a large ST role until last year. If Kumerow developed into a good ST'er can't other players do the same? 4. What is Kumerow's "long term" future with the team? Example: Do they think his play could someday replace a player like Jones. We can speculate that there is a good chance that if Kumerow is kept that a guy like Hodgins may not make the team. We're all likely to see Hodgins' play a lot more in the next couple of weeks and so will the coaches. What happens if he plays really well? What happens to Kumerow/Hodgins and others in this situation will be determined by the Beane, McDermott, Smalley and the position coaches. I'm confident they will ask all these questions and probably have a lot more than those to consider. I got no hate towards Kumerow but my hope is that Hodgins has a higher future worth to the team! I have the feeling so do the Bills.
  13. Stevenson just had surgery and is out for a couple/few weeks. Shakir is getting punts yesterday and most likely will get more. McKenzie is a lock and is always a fallback option for PR. Shakir and Austin probably battle it out with Shakir the hopeful, is my guess.
  14. It was a 2-way street there. Josh and his agent could have held things up, but they didn't. In a way it was Josh giving a discount and I'm sure he didn't care about being the highest paid. He wants championships and has more money already than he could ever spend.
  15. Well said. Matt Smiley had a presser about a week or so ago and I'm not sure if everyone who is interested in STs watched it. He does explain precisely what his role is concerning roster decisions. He "ranks" all the ST guys in value and hands that off to McDermott and Beane. I like what I hear from him and the ST "process" if you will. For anyone interested who didn't catch it. The first 10+ minutes is mainly about Punters/Holding and PR/KR. Starting at 11:00 minutes is pretty interesting. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/matthew-smiley-my-emphasis-is-always-to-push-that-level-of-competition
  16. This is the site I use. Breaks out penalties all different ways. https://www.nflpenalties.com/team/buffalo-bills?year=2021
  17. Beane keep his cutdown trade streak going with 1. We'll have to see who.
  18. When Beane signed Marquel Lee again this spring I thought he might be a guy to replace Matakevich as a ST core player for less money. He played a lot of ST for the Raiders in his career and was cut by the Bills last August. I saw him make a play or two on D yesterday but don't know about ST. Maybe a long shot to watch.
  19. After Tim's play yesterday I feel even more confident that Beane finally has the DL he has been looking for.
  20. They kept 6. Edmunds, Milano, Klien, Matakevich, Smith and Dodson. Giles-Harris was called up for a couple of games.
  21. So true. Keenum had a very bad half of football. His 9 years shows much more. Barkley was signed after Keenum and even he would think Keenum is primary backup. If true, I'm thinking Barkley has no problem going to PS for a while to start the year. If Barkley wasn't willing to do that then Beane made a mistake signing him versus a developmental guy. I don't think Beane makes those kinds of mistakes.
  22. If they kept 6 he makes the team, at least until Smith comes back. If 5 he's PS bound unless something out of the ordinary happens. Your Matakevich point is well taken. He's on his last year of a 3-year and what his future is would be anyone's guess. Heck, no one knows 100% what Edmunds fate will be. It's all fun to consider!
  23. I'm liking Hodgins too and want to see him play a lot more in the next 2 weeks. It will test his durability (a shoulder and a jammed knee doesn't mean he's injury prone to me) and see if he can continue to perform. We fans have a lot of fun debating who we think should stay and go but I know that even the coaches don't know everything yet. It would be awesome to hear the position coaches and coordinators debate who should stay and who is cut with McDermott and Beane. Those last 5 slots or so have got to be interesting!
  24. Haack probably is staying for insurance the next week to 2. Araiza could strain a muscle and there still is a pretty tight PR competition going on.
