Was that Zach Moss run actually impressive?
ColoradoBills replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
All true. One thing I haven't heard anything about is how is Howard doing in blocking. Something I will keep an eye on tomorrow. If he is used in that role, he won't run out a pass pattern at the snap. He will stay in and block and then leak out sometimes for a catch. I can live with that this year as long as he is blocking well and Knox keeps his current role. The negative of all this is if Knox is out for any length of time Howard will not be effective in Dawson's role. -
Deshaun Watson to be suspended 11 games via settlement
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
You stop it right now mister. FACTS mean nothing to many in today's world. Anyone who keeps bring up last year's situation concerning Watson as punishment are people who believe he didn't do anything wrong. Don't kid yourself, there are a lot of them out there. -

Well to be fair he was rushing behind a pretty bad OL. He showed what he could do in the passing game with 4 receptions and 60 yards. Taking 2 KRs and 1 PR (16 years) wasn't bad either. I want to see more. He is no doubt PS bound but may have a chance to make the main roster next year. -
Did Papi come out of retirement to make these rankings?

A lot of RBs need enough runs to get in the groove. I do think Moss makes the team again, but he will be RB3. With Gilliam and Jones dressing every week and if history is any indication, Moss will not be dressing for a lot of games. I have no idea what if any his role will be next season. -
Bills Cutdowns (update - down to 80)
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was on the team a year ago and I honestly thought he was signed to try to displace a more expensive ST core player. I was thinking maybe Matakevich. I was shocked he was released this early but maybe there was a plan with that. It would not surprise me to see him added to the PS if nobody picks him up. BB is the Jon Gruden of TEs. He never seen one he didn't like! -
You got to trust the process. I mean, where does it end? McD banning Josh from showering with Britanny?

Deshaun Watson to be suspended 11 games via settlement
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I gave a "general amnesty" to my entire ignore list when camp started. Like Haslam's comment on Watson needing a second chance. Both of us were wrong. My list is growing weekly! -
Deshaun Watson to be suspended 11 games via settlement
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
To say the least I am disappointed in the settlement. The amount of anger was due to the leniency I believe he received. It's after the official "lawyer" statement was released and then the corresponding Watson and Haslam comments that I am now totally disgusted. I can care less what others think but I am chipping it in stone that I wish nothing but bad luck to Watson and the Cleveland Browns organization until both of these disgraceful and ignoble individuals leave. I will applaud any non-violent dissatisfaction fans and communities respond with in kind. -
Dawson Knox brother Luke passes away
ColoradoBills replied to BillsFanNC's topic in The Stadium Wall
A loss of a brother has to be tragic. I am assured his "Buffalo Bills" brothers will help him through this horrible time. Stay strong for your family Dawson as we will for you. -
All GMs (especially teams paying an elite QB) use restructuring and void years as a tool. But it's only a tool and not sustainable method of cap management. If it was KC would have never moved on from Hill. Mahomes has $34.4M of roster bonus this year that could have been restructured. I think @hemmais trying to point out a rational fact. As an example, the Bills have 17 players above $3M cap this year. LA Rams have 10. The more high-cost elite players a team signs the less money for mid-level players they can pay. Beane will do his best to balance the 2, but he will be letting some talent go that he wishes he could keep.

Hodgins getting more snaps with the ones today! Bills keep 6WRs. Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, Crowder, Khalil and Hodgins. Kumerow cut and goes to PS. His ST duties taken over by Terrel Bernard. If the Bills feel they need another ST player, they keep Giles-Harris or Spector (if he looks good), but I think Spector is PS bound. I'm watching what Gilles-Harris does in the next 2 weeks. Smalley has already talked him up and I want to see how he is at LB too.

I'm going to assume you meant DL not DT. If you did mean DT how many do you need? If you meant the entire DL all I want to say is you need to look at other team's depth. While it's true that the SB champs have a great DL with their 3-4 defense, their depth is abysmal. The 3 depth DL on the Rams have almost no NFL experience with a total of 22 career tackles among all 3 of them. FWIW.

Look like practicing his downfield blocking.

Across the League Camp Injury Thread
ColoradoBills replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was according to depth charts. Now in essence it's replacing CJ Jackson with Terrance Mitchell and not much proven depth after that. -
Bills Cutdowns (update - down to 80)
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Spector and Giles-Harris are going to get a lot of work in the next 2 games along with Smith and Bernard. I'm scared to say this, but Giles-Harris is also very good on ST. -
Rich Eisen talking about the 6 hours after the Zach Wilson injury, "It was like sitting Shiva". No one talks about the "Jet curse" better than Rich. He actually makes me feel bad for Jets fans.
-
It's also true that many "fringe talent depth players" once given an opportunity have excelled. The Bills to their credit have a couple of elite gunners already with hopefully another (Bernard) in the wings. At this point Kumerow is a depth gunner. I'll get off my Hyde Park soapbox now!
-
LOL so true. But if they win the game, they will think they are playoff bound! Out here in the wild, wild west the Russell Wilson signing is Peyton Manning 2.0 and it's paving the way to the SB.
-
This is all I've been saying. Slow clap from me. The crazy thing is when Kumerow was picked up by the Bills I had high hopes he could be the cheap/reliable depth WR that all teams need. I feel that last year was his big chance and I have to now admit, he is who he is. A JAG receiver at best who is pretty good on ST. In regard to ST, the Bills have a lot of players who excel on the squads and if they move on from Kumerow I am confident they have other players that can take up his snaps. The only other point I try to make is we haven't seen how effective Hodgins can be on ST. My hope was for Kumerow, now it's for Hodgins. If he fails, they need to reload with another next year.
-
True. But let's not inflate Kumerow's WR skills. He has proven he can't separate from CBs. He had his shot at being a reliable depth WR last year. I think we have seen his ceiling and unless he is destined to replace a guy like Jones for a ST Core Elite guy his lack of WR skills will put him back on the PS IMO. Hodgins' ceiling is not yet known but he also has taken snaps with the 1s in camp and from all reports played well. While his play in the next 2 preseason games are important it's been said repeatedly that the overall camp performance is just as, if not more important. It is an interesting situation and you and I see it from different points of view which is fine with me. I'm quite sure that what you and I are debating will be exactly what the coaches will be doing in the next couple of weeks. We will soon all find out what they decide!
-
It was pretty good sarcasm if I do say so myself. Yes, I agree, and Jones and Neal are those guys. Bernard also was an elite gunner in college. ALL of last year's top core special team players are still on the roster and new players destined to make the team (Bernard as an example) will also be on ST. Not every depth player HAS to be a core player. If that's true, then Moss needs to be traded/released! I will say it again, Kumerow was only a core ST guy for 1 year in his entire career and he was on the bottom of that list in total snaps. If he has to be a "roster lock" this year in regard to his ST skills, then Smalley needs to be replaced. The main "sarcasm" in my post is that a guy like Hodgins can learn to take some ST snaps. If he continues to impress as a WR in the next couple of weeks he will make the team IMO.
-
How can this possibly be true? From what I read here ST duties can only be performed by highly talented elite players who are born with that skill. Like speed, these skills cannot be taught. Asking a guy like Hodgins to run down the field and either block or tackle would be disastrous and borders on insanity.

Good come back!
