He no doubt was headed there anyways. Hope he can recover to come back as healthy as possible and help his teammates. The move got them to 80 so at least another guy gets another week to show his stuff. Get well soon Ike.

My brother's gonna kill us!

He's an UDFA playing very well. I don't understand why you only put up the stats you did. Colts: 6 rushes-11 yards rushing (like you pointed out) but how about the rest? 4 Catches - 60 yards 2 KR and 1 PR 1 solo tackle on ST. Broncos: 5 rushes - 58 yards 2 catches - 21 yards 1 KR The young man has done well in camp and preseason and for sure deserves at least a PS spot and a chance to compete for RB3 next year. He has already shown he can perform and do what the coaches have asked him to do. If others hype him more than you think he deserves that's cool but at least give him props for what he has done.

Was just going to say this. Shaq is the 5th DE in my reckoning and if they think that there isn't much between him and Mike Love (Beach Boy), then it's not a bad move. Shaq (after the trade) is dirt cheap at $900k. If there are needed DE teams, I think it could happen.

Speculate that it's Van Rotten at least until we see what happens to Ike. Another option is Brown takes over RT and Quessenberry moves over to G. Then again, the roster isn't set yet and maybe someone new comes in.

I'm sure there are GMs who work in a total vacuum. Making trades and picks with no input. It seems to me that goes against what the Bills are all about. I would bet that a move like this went through McDermott and Kromer. Just like the Teller trade went through McDermott and the OL coach who is not on the team anymore. Not saying it's all on Johnson and/or Castillo, Teller was a team mistake. The Ford pick was much more on Beane's shoulders.
-
A lot more also like to troll or just don't like people who succeed in life. It's hard to separate the differences on a message board.
-
Yep. Although he did get a 5th (same pick used for Wyatt Teller). Maybe he will rectify the mistake.
-
It seems apparent enough to me that Cody Ford was not going to get another contract and they are moving on. Sorry, but that is the reality as of today.
-
No. As a fan of the Bills for 50+ years, no. He's the best GM this team has ever had in my opinion. You may have another and that's fine. The only thing that will change my mind is Brandon Beane making bad moves over and over and over. If he does, I'll change my mind.
-
Why does it have to be one or the other? Kromer seems to have improved his play. I think Ford's attitude, that we learned recently, shown the Bills do not have him in their future plans. It was a bust pick by Beane. There is no arguing that point. He got a 5th for him and saved a few $s. Is that bad, a 5th? IF you were a GM or Coach (even on a Tuesday) would you have given a 4th? I'll hang up and listen.
-
Fans call a rookie punter a 'GOD". What's your point. Continue with your "critique" of Beane all you want. You are in a very small minority and that goes throughout the entire NFL world.
-
Bottom line now is Beane is up to $5M in cap space and has 5th next year. Better than cutting a guy who really doesn't want to put in the work to play well in the NFL.
-
If anyone knows how the rehab going it would be Beane and his boys. I hope it works out that way. As to the trade. All the Beane haters (yes, they are still out there) would say the following: If Beane released Ford at cutdown: Bad pick but Beane should have got at least a 7th for him! Brandon is constantly learning his job as any good GM will do. I'm sure he learned something about the Cody Ford pick and will avoid that going forward the best he can.

So let it be done.

Special Teams play not so special

STC Smalley in his presser confirmed everything you just posted. He added as an example, kickoffs through the endzone or short of the goal line is determined by the opposing team's capabilities/weather and game planning. He also said (not enough people listen to it) that he rates all of the ST positions and players and gives that input to McDermott and Beane They take that info along with the position coach's input to determine the roster. He then said he works out the best STs he can with the players he receives knowing the priority goes to the offense and defense. It is a 2-way street I'm sure, but Smalley also has a responsibility to develop the guys he's assigned. He has to work with who he gets just like the OC and DC and make the best of it. -
LOL. I know and it's probably only a result of the nuns at St Josaphat's! I doubt that will happen. I'm just going to do what feels right for me.
-
It's a fair question. I think the guy has some talent and his development was a negative with the Jets and Carolina. The Jets have been a cluster #@&% and the Panthers O without McCaffrey is pretty weak. Sam was 3-0 to start last season with McCaffrey and 0-4 after his injury. To compare him with the current Bills backup QBs estimated results, Keenum can win you more than he loses and Barkley a little less. I'd put Darnold (in theory) between them with a potential to be even better with a good team/organization.
-
I got to think after seeing Matt Araiza's interviews and his calm low-profile demeanor, he must cringe at all this punt god stuff. Now that he made the team, I will use MA when mentioning him in future posts.

Special Teams play not so special

There was a lot of the bubble guys playing Saturday. I saw DE Kingsley Johnathan defending on a Kickoff. He's a 4th stringer. Maybe some of the looks these guys were getting was more about who to keep for PS than trying to make the team roster. -
LOL. I will fall off my couch if that becomes a fact.
-
Most likely. I do however believe he has more talent than Willaims and definitely more than Wade. He may be in the mix for RB3 next year. Can't ask for more than that from an UDFA.
-
Austin cost them nothing and was only a PR insurance policy. Looks like Shakir is the primary guy. Haack was a swing and a miss. They wanted a guy that created a lot of fair catches but Miami weather is not Buffalo weather.
