Wow. That was a pass.

Looks like the NFL letter of the Law needs to be modified. I know posters are upset with the TV crews but for me the true responsibility lies with the NFL. I'm sure the NFLPA has the lawyers ready to go. The people on TV are indirectly paid to be cheerleaders for the NFL. The non-NFL affiliated sportscasters will need to do the talking.

Come on man. I said there are 2 players (one being Josh) they can use to restructure. That's it. NOT any of the 53 on the roster. That was the discussion. -

LOL. I shouldn't have let the conversation get to where it's at. If you're giving me some sarcasm, I probably deserve it. If it's not it should have its own thread. I'm not the only one who enjoys that kind of stuff. Just in case, I will say, there are only 6 players (not 53) with salaries above $2M who could MAYBE be restructured right now. I use $2M because you can't restructure Base Salary to zero. It has to be at least player minimum. 4 of them are on the last year of their contracts so any restructure goes to dead cap next year. That leaves Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs (and Diggs has already restructured and had his money pushed out). Open up the Spotrac site and click to sort on "Base Salary". Edmunds will be on top. He's not restructuring without a new contract. Same goes with Poyer, Keenum and Oliver. There's a lot more to this stuff, but that is the basics. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/ EDIT: Sorry, linked wrong site. This is right. -

That statement alone proves you know nothing about NFL contacts. You are so wrong, and evidently don't want to learn why, that it's not worth conversing with you about it. -
LOL, my best friend's wife got me some for Christmas last year. I haven't tried them out yet. Let me know how yours are working!

Beane is not going to do anything crazy until he sees what the new TV contracts bring to the Cap Space. Spotrac already did its "add $10M" to its 2023 figures. No one knows yet what it will end up being. If I was to describe Brandon Beane when it comes to the cap it's this. He pushes the money as far it can go BUT he isn't reckless about it. I totally like how he handles the money in general. -
Mine would throw me clothes from the breezeway door and tell me to change in the garage before I came into the house.

Sorry I left you with this conversation. I was talking to my brother in Buffalo. Yes, I wanted him to say who to restructure (I did it because there really isn't much money left to do that). Beane will need to do some moves just to get enough cash to get through the season, especially if these injuries don't stop. I'm getting to be an old man, when it comes to finances the people who say "all you got to do" I have found are generally the one's that end up at payday loans. Generally. -

You can only restructure Salaries, Options Bonuses and adding Void years. That's the "magic". Go to Spotrac and show us how you get another $6M for Barkley. -

No, GMs do not "work magic". It's simple math. He has already done the restructures to pay for what roster moves he did this year. Asking for a BIG trade for Barkley right now would border on recklessness. -

Beane could go to Payday Loans. -

So, is it official? Is Barkley the new Ertz? -
It's been the place to go for a long time. I seldom get up there anymore and I miss that.

I would love to see him in a Bills uniform! That being said, the questions is, "for what cost"? -
Time for Beane to "break glass in case of emergency"?
ColoradoBills replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm talking about the current injury report. If you can't see what I mean, fine. I'm sure he has contacted S's agents. If and when he signs one has other implications. He added another DL to the 53. He would need to cut one or put one on IR to open a spot for a S on the 53. As an example. -

I'm just going to reply generally about all this stuff. Beane has to be as confused as all of us on these injuries. He has very limited funds. He needs to move a player to fit Xavier. He just signed an OL. I bet he is waiting to see the injury report with a little more anxiety than us fans. -
Yeah, Spotrac put a player's name one time on the Dead Money list and adds to it as needed. Sometimes they add the $s quickly and other times it takes a while. As guys "elevate" they have to adjust both the dead money and their PS pay accordingly. Bills only have 14 on the PS as of now. I'm waiting to see if Emil goes back there or not. Some kind of move needs to be made to open a spot for Xavier too.
-
The 3-game rule is to limit teams from signing guys off the PS and dumping them after the game (like the Bills did). I checked Spotrac and I see what you mean. My guess is next week he gets another check and it goes up another $40k. The NFL pays for game weeks. https://www.hogshaven.com/2022/8/30/23325681/how-it-works-nfl-practice-squad-rules-eligibility-salary-and-more If a practice squad player is signed to the active roster, he will receive a minimum of three weekly paychecks, even if he is released before spending three weeks with the new team.

Just to give Barkley's cost. He is making $425k per game this season. His cap hit for 10 games is $4.25M. Beane currently has $1.88M before whatever Xavier ends up costing. -
I would think being he just got off his couch and knows nothing of the scheme's, style and playbook they will have him loosen up today and be glued to Coach West side.
