  1. Now teams are getting some tape on him. One stat I noticed in his college and NFL games is he is not a runner at all. He's not that tall either. Good D's will start to figure him out if he can't keep improving himself. Let's see how he plays on the road against Cleveland.
  2. While I'm speculating, I would think the term "limited" has different levels of how much actual work a player does. As to the question of not practicing at all or doing limited work, I have to leave it to the experts in the training room.
  3. Looks like Poyer, Edmunds and Knox are the big concerns for tomorrow's practice. Hope Cam Lewis is just cautionary and is back to full tomorrow. Not counting on Benford and Phillips at all.
  4. I don't think there is worry about any starter playing a couple of plays as a gunner. They will go down the depth chart and whoever's names are there will do it.
  5. My guess it's two of the following. Neal J. Johnson Hamlin Lewis
  6. I'm not sure, thus my statement. Remember both Kumerow and Jones are indispensable on special teams, or so it's been said. To be honest, it was a half joke.
  7. The good news is the surgery went well. Also, it's good that the Bills should get a decent report how his recovery is going by the draft. Micah will start out the summer on PUP and with a little luck be back, good to go, for camp. Neck surgeries are unique to everyone. For all saying he never plays again, all I'll say is I have a brother that had spine fusion 50 years ago. He has never had an issue with it. We will find out in the spring or early summer how Hyde is doing.
  8. Great interview. I like this young guy a lot. Glad he's here!
  9. For sure, Tre is going nowhere. This is how I could see things going. Next year the Bills have signed contracts at CB of: White ($15.6M) T Johnson ($9.25M) Elam ($3.1M) Benford ($1M - Moving to SS?) Neal ($3.3M) (Primary Depth) Contracts signed for S: Hyde ($10.8M - Let's hope he's back 100%) Hamlin ($1M) Add in a few PS DB guys that sign Reserve/Futures contracts. Poyer - UFA (He walks unfortunately) Jackson - RFA (If Bills want to keep him it's a $4.3M 2nd Round Tender or they let him go for a 7th round tender) If anyone got traded at deadline it's Dane for maybe as much as a 5th if their plans are not to keep him. Lewis - RFA (won't get tendered-hoping he signs back and comes to camp) J Johnson - UFA (test FA market - going to want $2M+. Maybe resigned for depth) I see a 5th round (Bills have 2, ARZ for Cody Ford) for a Safety and another 6th or 7th going on CB.
  10. We will see how the backup gunners play this week. I expect the Chiefs to punt at least 5 times. Just a note about availability. Jones is in his 5th season with Bills and has had only 1 injury free year.
  11. I have to say the obvious. I don't want to give up any of these players. I just can't pick and choose what is best. There just is too much to calculate. I have to trust Beane to do it.
  12. I disagree as I just said in my post above yours. RBs that rush a ton of carries is the thing that is outdated. A player that can do the things that are "needed" is still important.
  13. Agree with it all. Poyer is not the only guy that Beane has to consider the cost. It's a constant and challenging tightrope.
  14. I got a 25-cent piece for 2 good ones if Beane needs it. That's 12 1/5 cents for each one. Seriously, in today's football a pure "running back" as we knew it has lost its importance. That doesn't mean the position has. It's just changed. I'll use the old term "half back". Teams in today's football need a player(s) that can: Get you 2 yards when you need it. Catch check downs and swing passes. Block for your QB. Have some speed to stretch the D horizontally or take it to the house. Juke and break tackles for some big gains. Line up as a WR to cause mismatches. Give you some special teams worth. That's what you want from the position. Having all that in one player is rare, risky and expensive. Teams need a minimum to 2 guys who can fill those needs. It's not easy to find 2 guys that can do that consistently and are fairly cost efficient. Bottom line, it's still an important need.
  15. I mentioned repeatedly their secondary took a big hit due to "cap" issues. Yes, posters still believe there is no cap. Teams that can handle their DL rush with a good QB can beat them.
  16. I like your take on him. It's not a bad situation for the next few games to let him be "primary sub" along with splitting some time as McKenzie. It would be a good situation to get experience all along the WR roles. If he continues to develop the way he has, he will lock up the slot position soon enough, but the need right now is outside.
  17. Opposing team's punts wouldn't hit the ceiling either.
  18. Buffalo Bill Cody Stadium. I like it!
  19. One thing some of us have been talking about is about the 3-game pay rule. Does this apply to PS players being signed to the 53 from the same team? I thought it did. If it doesn't, I can see why Beane is risking the waiver rule for players he has signed for only one game.
  20. You are using the Division Title rules. Home Field advantage uses the Wildcard Rules. Head-to-Head may not be applicable if 3 teams are tied.
  21. I would think he could use a little time getting back into football shape. Bryant will get cut again if/when Phillips is back 100%.
  22. I'm not dismissing coaching, but I think it's just going to be a shootout between 2 great QBs.
  23. It seems simple to me. The game will be driven by the following: Which QB has more time to throw the ball effectively. Which QB can better evade the rush and run the ball better. Which secondary can play better than the opponents secondary. The rest is up to the normal game changers. Turnovers, Special Teams and Luck. This is going to be a QB duel.
  24. Good job putting this together. Thanks.
