No one knows as far as I heard. His first step is getting cleared by his Dr.'s to practice and then have teams give him a physical. I have not heard when that may happen. He had surgery on Feb 22. His first ACL surgery took him 11 months to recover. Adam Schefter said in September that he "wouldn't see the field" until Thanksgiving. That is 9 months after his surgery. NFL players returning from ACLs is generally 9-12 months. Like I said upthread. Until he works out in Buffalo and has a physical all this is nothing but "click bait" to me. If KC (or another team) want to sign him before that happens then go right ahead. The Bills shouldn't take that chance. Your point about other players is well taken. I personally would be interested in him when he is healthy. Then a process can start as to whether or not to sign him. Not before. IMO

I got nothing against OBJ being a playoff rental. There are conditions I think most of us would want to see met. 1. Cleared by Dr's, passes physical. 2. Work out is commensurate with where he should be physically. 3. His money isn't stupid. 4. Knows what his role will be. This is the most important. He is not going to replace Diggs and Davis. He has to "outplay" the other WRs, and he has to fill the role the Bills need him to play, not the other way around. If Shakir is the #3 guy he has to live with it. 5. All this has to happen inside a reasonable timeframe that will allow him to have a chance to bring his game up to speed in time. The clock will start ticking soon. It's up to him to get healthy in time to be a benefit to the Bills. If KC wants to roll the dice earlier than it wise, that's up to them.

Just to clarify I didn't mean they ignored the run game. So then, it's the talent of the players and/or coaching scheme that is the problem. Without a change in personnel, what can be done this year to improve the run game?

I've noticed a lot of Josh's RPOs that end up being a handoff, both he and the RB are pretty stationary. I speculate that this is caused by Josh wanting to pull the ball back and throw or run himself. I do agree with the timing aspect being important. It seems to me a good number of Bills running plays just don't look crisp. I have speculated that not enough effort (as of now) has been put into the running game. I also wonder how effective practice time has been for the offense when the Bills' run D is so good. My hope is the run game will improve as the new OC settles in with his passing game and can give more attention with his new OL coach to the running game. Do you see any merit in my thought or do you think I'm just dreaming?

Yes, and they shouldn't have during the opening stretch. Cook has had 19 rushes for a 5.1 Y/A. 4 catches on 7 targets for 9.3 Y/R. Yes, he dropped a couple and had a fumble on his first carry. In the "old days" that's 1 game's usage. He is going to get a lot more chances in the coming weeks like I said above. The Bills had to get through these tougher games with wins and they did. Moss has had 17 rushes. With a new OC and a new OL coach, we haven't seen what the run game can do yet. Do fans seriously think these guys have been working on 1st and goal from the 5 running plays? They have been working on the passing game to win these early games.

Motor and Cook are the guys. Moss is the mystery. I get the feeling that during the stretch of "not so powerful" teams, that Moss will get another look. Not only for this season but the staff needs to know if he will play any significant role for next season. I'm not saying he will be RB1 but he will get more snaps along with Cook. This makes sense and keeps Motor fresh for later in the season. If Moss struggles with his chances during these games, I can see a call-up or 2 from Duke Johnson to see how he fits in. In my mind it's the best way to evaluate the teams RB needs this season and next. I hear all the talk about the playoffs and the RB situation, but I would like to say that is a lot of games away. There is time for the OL to work on its run blocking, Cook to get a bigger role and Moss and or Duke to get a chance to see who is RB3. I'm a little confused as to the crisis some are seeing.

I agree with you. SF will have some money to absorb a CMC redo of his contract. I just don't see how even with an overhauled contract how the Bills who are close to -$8M over cap already, add CMC's $'s and sign or replace 24 free agents next year. Especially when they would have been left with a 1, 5, 5, 6, 7 at best. It would be a huge change in the roster and there is no guarantee CMC clinches a SB title.

Wait a minute. Are there posters who are seriously believing Tom Brady's decent on the football field is because of his wife. LOL, that's the reason you're buying into. It seems to me he is doing exactly what he wants to do (which is what he has always done). If he is failing, it's because HE is failing.

Ken Dorsey is really really good

Daboll has a lot more experience in coaching and the responsibility of a coordinator than Dorsey does. Dorsey has 6 games worth of OC. Daboll had 120+. -
Tipped Balls are becoming an issue-thoughts as to why??
ColoradoBills replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
You don't have to accept anything I say. The short passes are part of the scheme that he follows from his OC. I'll try to put it another way. I do not see one aspect of Josh Allen QB play that he is "conservative" or not trusting his skills. Why should passing through the DL be the only one? I went to look for the QB stats for how many times this season every QB threw the ball away, in numbers and percentage. I would think Josh was pretty low in that percentage. I couldn't find it anywhere. If anyone has those stats, I would like to see them. If he didn't push his limits, we wouldn't see the jaw dropping plays we constantly see. IMO. -

I will repeat myself. Don't you think that Josh Allen is a QB that pushes his talent and game to the limit? It seems to me that his throws into tight windows that open and close so fast it's unlike anything most of us have ever seen. He is not playing conservative with his reads and throws. He trusts his arm. He can certainly bring down the number of batted balls by playing it cautious. He could always just throw the ball away like so many other QBs. He doesn't, and if some batted balls are the consequences, I'm glad to accept them. -

Dorsey is just scratching the surface of the other offensive schemes and styles he can develop outside the main passing game. It's going to take some time. He is already showing a better run game in KC. As to a HC gig next season. Owners better realize that Ken is good, but he is not going to make Darnold or similar QBs into Allen. Dorsey should realize that too. He has a lot of things to work on yet in Buffalo. There is a right time for everything and IMO it would be a mistake to jump to HC too early and to a bad organization. -
If you could only have 1 (Beckham or McCaffrey)

I don't see the need to trade for CMC. OBJ only if there are multiple WR injuries. -

Josh Allen is a warrior and gunslinger. If he sees a receiver open, he throws the ball. He's not giving more attention to the DL than the open guys. He's looking downfield not for "throwing lanes". A few batted balls are the price you pay for his QB style. I can't believe Bills fans want Josh Allen to be more conservative. Let it go. -
Agree. They had to do a move to stay under the cap, so they did enough to get through the year. I would think a DB move could happen with some of the cap they now have. I don't believe it was done with their sights on some "game changer". Beane was close to having to do this a week or so ago. Letting Smith go has him back up to $1.7M. He's doing a good job with the money.

...........into the sunset. Bronco's season is almost over.
-
Agree. I know it's just a fluke, but I can't remember watching the Chargers the last time they won. It's been a streak of losses that I have seen.
-
Spotrac prorated his salary for missing 6 games down to the $690k number. He will have some signing bonus dead cap. The savings should be just above $700k.
-
I agree. It's hard to develop OL players. A DL can get a number of snaps and if he doesn't "win" his snap the worse that happens is he becomes ineffective for that play. When a developing O-Lineman doesn't win his snap, it can cause a huge loss to the offense. It's a tough decision on the coaches and irritates us fans. Knowing how hard it is, I give a little more leeway I guess than others do.

Still the Bills left 14-21 points out there......
ColoradoBills replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
That can also be said of your opinions. See how that works. The gameday threads are hilarious with its overreactions. In the past I've likened it to tweener girls voting on their favorite boy band. Since then, I stopped, not wanting to denigrate tween girls. -

I had to laugh at "gifted them a 62-yard FG". Didn't know those were gimme's. -
Yes, it does. Every little bit counts this year. It wouldn't shock me if he works his way onto the PS.
