For the Steelers to make the playoffs, three things must happen, in no particular order: Pittsburgh must win their final two games against the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns. Miami Dolphins must lose out or lose and tie once. Jets need to lose to the Seahawks. (Beat the Dolphins next week). EDIT: Seems the Bills have to Beat the Patriots too.

In the AFC the Bills defense has given up the least number of points at 263. Bengals at 306. Chiefs at 332. The Dolphins are the worse in the AFC with 370 points. Bills lead the NFL in Net Points with 157. Defense still matters in my book.

When I see the term "professional commentator" what comes to my mind turns to the poster child of foolishness, Skip Bayless. He is the antithesis of what was once "the sportswriter". I need less talk about people's opinions and more about the game itself. I'll take a Steve Sabol over the Skips of the world, all day long. I was hesitant in writing my earlier post but I'm glad I did. It's good to know I'm not the only one feeling this way.

I have to take a moment to comment about the upcoming game Monday. The reality is that 2 very good football teams are going head-to-head with the outcome extremely important not only for the 2 teams playing the game but for the KC Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens too. I want to take this moment to comment at the way games like this are viewed compared to many years ago when I started watching football. In the past, this game would get "hyped" for the importance of the game. Fans and sportswriters would comment on its importance and talk about how great it will be to actually "watch the game and see what happens". Today, it seems to me, all that has changed. It's all about trying to prove, one way or another, ahead of time what the outcome will be through a myriad of stats and projections and I'm sorry to say "bullcrap". I for one, prefer to sit back and wait for these 2 talented teams to fight it out and enjoy the game for what it is, a great football game. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who still thinks this way? I will add one more thing. It's awesome that my hometown team is involved in this game! Go Bills! Happy New Year!

Tell me then, if the Bills D gets beaten so bad, right from the start, how many points does the Bengals O score? In other words, what is going to be the reality of your "boat raced" hot take in points?

Carr started day one as a rookie. Since then, he has had 6 HCs and I won't count how many OCs and QBCs. He has flashed from a very good QB to average and it's hard for me to judge what he could have been with a stable franchise. In his 9 years he has had only 1 playoff games and lost. His injury to end the 2016 season and not playing in the Raiders playoff game that year was a shame. He has been durable and if I have a negative thing to say about him is that his consistency has been lacking. It's impossible for me to determine what kind of QB he could have been, but I do think he had a raw deal. It's time for him to move on and have a chance to show if he can get better (or worse) with a new team. Unfortunately, I think he is damaged from his career with the Raiders and I'm not sure he can be fully fixed. I do wish him luck against the league, minus the Bills.

First off, thanks for the 538 site. I'm not going to crunch the numbers (I know you are using a guesstimate) but the overall "Getting the Bye" increasing the chances of a SB being doubled, makes perfect sense to me. It also goes to show that a "Superbowl" favorite does not have as much of a statistical advantage as most "I'm not good at math" people think. I'm going to keep an eye on this site as to their probability numbers and if I have some points to make, I will let you see them.

I'm a simple man and like simple things. Bills beat the Bengals and Pats* and clinch the bye. Let the rest of the Division worry about who plays who in the Wildcard Round. Bills host one of Dolphins, Chargers, Ravens if one of the wildcard teams win or else the Jaguars. Most likely that the Chiefs host the Bengals!

I think they are trying to do a quick rebuild if they can. They'll look at FA QBs and/or see if they got a chance for a rookie QB. If nothing works out for them QB wise, I bet they tank in 2023. If it's the tank route, Adams will get traded. It's another high risk for that organization that has proven they mess up more than not.

Crowder being available doesn't move the needle much at all for me unless there is an injury to one of McKenzie/Shakir/Beasley. I just don't see him on the 53 otherwise.

I have to disagree with you on the Gruden point. Raiders were 22-31 under Gruden's second stint with them. Bisaccia was 7-5 and got them in the playoffs last year.
