  1. Or it puts Beane in a position to trade back.
  2. Hines has to get back to some worth at running the ball like he did his 1st 4 years in Indianapolis. That's close to another 200. I don't mind Josh running with open ground in front of him. Harris should be able to take some of the tougher rushing yards from Josh. My hope is not so much added yards by the RBs, they need to be catching a lot more balls too.
  3. This debate just keeps going. IF these huge $ fully guaranteed QB contracts become the norm, there will come a time that a team(s) (and its fans) will truly regret it. These contracts have a risk of destroying a franchise. I will add to my observation using Deshaun Watson as an example. Watson has restructured this year pushing his cost for the next 3 seasons to $64M per year. What if Deshaun suffers a serious injury that is NOT career ending? What is this injury limits a QB and the team is perpetually a sub .500 team? They can't cut him and they surely couldn't trade him. The Browns already have $9M pushed out into a void year in 2027. Think of teams from a few years back that could have been saddled with these types of contracts. Wentz would still be on the Eagles and the Ravens may never have had the option of drafting Lamar if Joe Flacco's contract was fully guaranteed. This is right off the top of my head. Personally, I don't think it's good for the league.
  4. I'll be happy with 700 yards and another 800 from Cook.
  5. It's true that McDermott does tend to trust a veteran more than a rookie and there is merit to McDermott's starting rookies slowly due in a large part to the long NFL season compared to college. I think Beane has gone along with it always trying to fill all holes with some sort of a veteran before the draft. Now that the core team is together, and the cap is much tighter and definitely will be tight again next spring, I do feel that McDermott will, out of necessity, have to ease up on his mantra concerning rookies. I don't expect a huge change, but I do see a need for compromise.
  6. Great post, especially the bolded. As to Davis, he does have to snag some of the easy drops and get his catch rate up 10-12%. The offense all starts with the QB, that is undebatable. The Bills have Josh Allen who is elite, but he has tendencies that have to be acknowledged. While Josh can learn to identify a receiver and get the ball out very quickly, it will never be his norm. He wants to hold on to the ball and look for the big play more than the average QB. He has the skill set to do that, so it makes sense to me to accept what's in his DNA and build accordingly. If you accept that Josh wants to play the QB position that way, it only makes sense to FIRST put an above average OL in front of him. That doesn't mean it has to be the top 5 in the league, but they should be shooting for at least a top 10. My eyes tell me that Josh gets pushed off his anchor spot in the pocket too much. That alone throws the timing of the plays off and it turns into a mad scramble. Luckily, Josh is good at that but it doesn't mean he should play 50% of the game that way. I will stick to my guns and continue to say the problem is not receivers (Gabe or others), it's the OL. Give Josh that extra tick of the clock and keep the plays timing on track and watch the offense take off. I will be disappointed if the Bills don't add another good lineman in the draft. Add a WR after the OL this April.
  7. That's good news to me. I want Beane to be able to trade down from #27 and my hope is some player sticking out. With a supposed weak draft class, CB would be a great position for a team with need to trade up. Las Vegas at #38 has need for a CB but other priorities (OL/QB) may be taking pick #7. Their #100 3rd round comp pick and #174 5th comp would be a joy to see go to Buffalo. They got a total of 12 picks, so there in lies my hope!
  8. The Buffalo Bills are a very good football team and have a very good front office and coaches. I enjoy watching the Buffalo Bills play football.
  9. Sadly, when I feel that way, I fear I'm turning into this. I think I need a walk.
  10. Thank you for your post. The comments were starting to make me twitch. I hope your reply stops them!
  11. I've always put little stock in all these types of rankings. They're just a form of a recency bias, popularity contest more often than not. I'd like to know where last year's LA Rams were ranked.
  12. My understanding is the tag rules are written in stone. I can't ever recall anyone mentioning that is an option, but I could be wrong.
  13. Th "team" thing confuses me the most in all of this. The Ravens took a chance on Lamar when a lot of the league didn't believe in him and traded up to draft him with a SB winning, high dollar QB, on the roster. They made Lamar the starter and designed a team around him to succeed. Then they gave him an extremely good offer at the start of his 4th season. I can only look at life through my own eyes, but I would have shown my "loyalty" to the team and signed it. The Baltimore ownership and management have to feel a lot of regret where they find themselves now. I wonder if Lamar even considers that?
  14. We will never know the details evidently. Maybe he could have returned and chose to shut it down for the whole season. Halfway through the season it was apparent the Rams weren't going anywhere, and we don't know what plans Edwards had (if any) with returning to the Rams. Strickly from a Bills fans perspective, it's good he didn't play again last season.
  15. Thanks. FTR, I'm not down on Ike. He's filled in ok when he was needed. Improving the Bills OL and IOL specifically just means in my mind, that a guy like Ike (talent wise) should be on the bubble. His $50k guarantee surely reflects that thinking. In regard to my original post, I guess another (better way) to say what I meant, is Ike in no way should preclude Beane from adding to the IOL in the draft or elsewhere. Although now, I am starting to warm up to the idea for an OT if the pick is high.
  16. 11. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in Article 6 or this Appendix, a UFA who signs a one-year NFL Player Contract that provides for a maximum of $1.75 million shall not be a CFA (an “Excluded UFA”); provided, however, the signing Club must notify the NFL Management Council upon execution of such Player Contract that the player is being designated as an Excluded UFA pursuant to Article 6 and Appendix V of the CBA, which designation cannot be modified or withdrawn by the Club. The abovestated maximum ($1.75 million) shall apply to the 2020 and 2021 League Years and thereafter shall increase by $20,000 on a bi-annual basis (e.g., the maximum during the 2022- 2023 League Years shall be $1.77 million). The one-year contract of an Excluded UFA cannot be renegotiated or extended until after the Club’s final game.
  17. My bad. I must be mis-remembering. I thought Ike had 2 Achilles injuries.
  18. First off, you are not allowed to say anything bad about the KC Chiefs. They are infallible. Second, Fenton was traded to Atlanta for a 7th round pick. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/rashad-fenton-29249/
  19. Agree totally with the G/C comment. LT is the blind spot so it's important. A lot of Josh's fumbles come from the blindside. I do feel if the line is good with those 4, the least important is the RT. Josh has a knacked to move around that DE. It's the guys in his face that cause the most disruption to him IMO.
  20. That's just the "general" one. The "special" one is the one with the E. Or so I was told.
  21. I would say that if he had to sign cheaper, why not with an OL coach you like and a SB contender?
  22. I'm sticking with WR, OL, MLB and DL in some sort of order for the 1st 4 rounds. Beane can go with S, TE, or something with 5 and 6. Future needs are going to have to be prioritized. It just can't be the way it was due to the core players eating up a lot of cap.
  23. 1st: Because Ike is always on PUP/IR. LOL. If he isn't he will battle only as depth. 2nd: All true about Doyle, and Quiz is not an answer. Thus, my opinion that an OT will most likely be taken in Day 1 or 2.
