  1. It seems it could be the "wildcard" to have something different of D. It seems to me this whole MLB size versus coverage is not only an issue for Buffalo, but a league wide one. RBs, Tight Ends and SWRs seem to feast, depending on circumstances, with both styles of MLBs. I'd love to hear McDermott and his D coaches discuss this issue and the "possible" counterattacks. The only thing I keep coming up with is Milano gets the green dot (he's on the field constantly) and there is some sort of rotation between 2 different types of MLBs. But that was "old school" so something else would have to be added. Maybe a swapping of the normal NCB with a Heavy Nickel to add a little more muscle when the lighter MLB is on the field? Any type of D like this would have to be very game specific depending on the opponent as to which style is the base for that game. I know it's probably just a crazy idea, but I keep going back to why they drafted Bernard (who clearly looked like he didn't fit in last year's D) and them knowing that Edmunds was probably gone for this year. It's a puzzlement.
  2. Yes. Get your core players and sign the rest to short contracts. I believe the Bills are moving toward that.
  3. He's on the field too much for me. Bills need to use the TEs more. I got no problem with drafting another TE too. KC used 2 other TEs (Bell got hurt) and threw to TE over 200 times. The Bills threw to TEs 77 times. Modern NFL Offenses use TEs.
  4. KC is even worse. Bills have 36 players under contract next season and the Chiefs have 26. That's after you subtract the void year contracts.
  5. Top WR/TE 2022 Snap Count % and Targets Davis - 85% - 93 Diggs - 77% - 154 Knox (TE) - 76% - 65 McKenzie - 51% - 65 Shakir - 25% - 20 Just to compare to the Chiefs: Kelce (TE) - 80% - 151 Valdes-Scandling - 67% - 81 Smith - Schuster - 66% - 101 Grey (TE) - 52% - 34 Watson - 43% - 34 Moore - 27% - 33 Hardman - 26% - 34 (Injured) Anybody see something that sticks out when we talk about the Bills #2 WR? I'll say it again, Davis gets to many snaps and targets and Knox not enough targets. That's just to start.
  6. It's a need at OT. Tommy Doyle is practically an unknown. His 1 game last year was his total of snaps for the season. Q is once again another 1 year JAG. Dawkins, Brown and Doyle will all be in their last year of their contracts next season. If Dawkins goes down and Brown doesn't improve Josh could be in big trouble.
  7. Yes. He needs at a minimum 2 more targets per game. The other WR debate (which is part of the Davis debate) is the slot. Fans want a top-notch slot receiver and I want the following. Diggs, Harty, Shakir, Sherfield and Davis all can play inside and outside. Diggs takes off about 25% of the offensive plays. That's just the way he is. Davis should have his total # of snaps diminished, especially if he can't prove to catch the ball better. It seems to me that having a bigger rotation both on the outside and slot could be a real nightmare for opposing Ds. Put pressure on the NCB or the zone area protecting against the slot receiver.
  8. You are missing David Edwards at G. When it comes to the IOL it seems to me the big question (which I don't think anyone knows for sure) is future at C. If they got that figured out then I see the OT as the need.
  9. With the way that the Bills 2024 UFAs are currently looking, he may be able to swing a couple next year too. It's something Beane will keep an eye on no matter what some fans think. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/2024/all/buffalo-bills//
  10. For the first 3 picks I think it's safe to say they won't be ALL offense or defense. So, for me it's this, is it 2 O and 1 D or the opposite. I want the 2 O. 4th round pick will be the wildcard to make it O orientated or spllt.
  11. If this year's draft talent is as bad as some of you guys say, then of course Beane will want to look to trade down. Problem is, so will other teams. We just have to wait and see how the draft flows. The issue is IF Beane has to pick at #27, it most likely comes down to a few positions and who is the highest of those on his board. I got no problem with a WR, LB or OT being the pick if that happens.
  12. Yes. If the incentives are "dressed games", I can see that and have no problem with it.
  13. Totally agree. I believe we are seeing some of that in this year's FAs. Not near as many huge signings. It's adjusting slowly but surely. One thing a lot of fans don't see is the math behind all of this. Restructuring and void years can be a great tool (I believe Beane is doing a very good job with that) BUT when you get to losing too much cap through void years it takes away "dollar for dollar" in the current season. Beane, for all his moves only lost $3.25M in void dead cap this season. That is pretty good for a team with a vet-signed QB.
  14. There are 4 players worth over $7M in void year money next spring. It's part of doing business in today's NFL. If some board members here had their way, it would be 4 times that amount. As to the Phillips cost this year, he had a good amount of time to find a team to pay him money. $3M sounds about right for him re-signing with the Bills. Keep Jordan fresh and they need to work Oliver like a dog early in the season. It's his contract year and he has had the advantage of the heavy rotation his first 4 years.
  15. Excellent. Bills training staff and coaches need to put together a plan to keep him as healthy as possible. He is needed for the end of the season and the PLAYOFFS. Don't overwork him in camp and September and October.
  16. My dad can beat up your dad!
  17. Of course winning the SB is the goal. Bills have a great team. Great teams have higher expectations. Even with a great team it does still come down to how many other great teams are out there. It then becomes an odds thing. Playoff matchups, injuries and luck play a part of success too. The road to the SB is easier if your team is in the NFC. That is pretty obvious right now. I kind of think that an average season now is the Bills are in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and it's whether or not they can win that game which will decide if the season can be better than expected or worse. Get to the final 4 as often as possible makes the odds much better. I believe that is what Beane talks about. Bills had a tough year last year. Fans can decide for themselves if they want to hate the team for what happened or see the circumstances as affecting the overall results.
  18. I hope that happens. Shaq for vet minimum is a deal.
  19. He has said it multiple times in pressers and now it's getting to the point where he is being ignored. He is the Head Coach. If he has said it that many times to us, how many times has he said it to Josh and Dorsey? McDermott is the father figure of this family. Sometimes a dad has to yell to get his point across. He's also with Pegula and Beane on this trip. I bet you any money they feel the same way and for all we know they are using this forum to get their point across once and for all. I'd recommend you go to the OP and click the link. Seems they all agree.
  20. Lead story: Josh needs to run less and slide more. I agree wholeheartedly. Second Lead Story: Von Miller recovery going great. Expected back earlier than first thought. I like that just as much!
  21. I think you hit the nail on the head Shaw. Only thing I will add is it may have been a bit of Frazier being a fairly conservative DC. To win in the playoffs you have to take more chances IMO. Another behind the scenes possibility is McDermott wanting to innovate more than Frazier was capable or willing to do.
  22. McDermott is publicly stating what most of us have been saying. That alone is a big tell what goes on at OBD. What combination of responsibility that is between Josh and Dorsey is immaterial, they both are part of that. I'll add that Beane has responsibility in this too. He has started to put resources into the OL and has to continue in the draft. I got no problem with McDermott getting a little tougher with coaches and players.
  23. Yes. Once he establishes his type of D play calling, he will have Babich or Butler take over.
  24. No one can honestly say the Edmunds did not develop as much as was expected. For the last 2 years there was actually comments made about his needing to make more "impact" plays. He just couldn't produce enough. McDermott wants that from that position. It's part of the more aggressive D he desires. First off you responded to @BillsPride12who was responding to me. I did not say that at all, and you missed the whole point of the posts.
  25. After the money is computed, it is transferred to a point system. Then the following is used to come up with the total points for each player. https://overthecap.com/collective-bargaining-agreement/appendix/V All players shall be assigned additional points based on honors or participation, as follows: Selected 1st Team ALL NFL by PFWA or 1st Team ALL PRO by AP: 20 points. Selected All Conference by PFWA (except if selected ALL NFL or ALL PRO above): 5 points. One point for each percent of the total offensive/defensive plays in which the player participated (excluding special teams) provided that the player participated in a minimum of 25% of the offensive/ defensive plays (excluding special teams). For example: 67% participation equals 67 points, 0% to 24.99% participation equals no points. Exception: in the case of punters and place-kickers, 1 point will be awarded for each punt attempted and 1 point for each punt inside the 20-yard line during the regular season for the punters, and 2 points for each field goal attempted and 1 point for each field goal made during the regular season for place-kickers. The sum of the numerical values in (a) and (b) above shall represent each player’s Final Numerical Value. Each CFA’s Final Numerical Value shall be measured in percentile terms against all players’ Final Numerical Values to determine the position of a Club’s Compensatory Draft Selection, if any.
