  1. Beane did say is his presser that he is working on this and used the "2 million" term. One was from a question about the DL. I easily can see the other being a RB.
  2. I like keeping up with who the UDFAs are (especially what positions) but in all reality they are camp fodder. This doesn't mean they are "unimportant" the better the camp guys perform the better they compete against the lower tiered guys that will make the team. I hope some perform well enough to be decent PS guys who might get a couple of call ups. Then again, and this is the fun part, every once in a while, a true "diamond in the rough" is found! For anyone who does like to root for the underdog, it almost always becomes a great story.
  3. I guess I'm saying IF Bates is in the plans to play Center (in any capacity other than backup) it would behoove the team to get him more snaps at the position. He has played a lot less games/snaps at the position than fans think.
  4. I was just looking at all this today. Your numbers are right on. I too have suggested Neal may be part of the answer. One thing to add is the savings for any of the "under 51" guys making the roster. Not a lot of money, but it's always something. It's most likely Beane will have to make a move to clear a little more money and as you said it will be just enough to get through the year. Next season will be tight too. The big names (money wise) that I see is what happens with Morse, Hines and Harty. Spotrac has only added $10M for next season and that should be more. Beane probably knows more than us fans as to how much more. @BuffaloBillyGhas said there is a lot of available restructures, but Beane is not going to go to the limits (as well he shouldn't). I'm prepared to see what we seen this year happen every year in the future. A couple of UFA will walk (hopefully getting comp picks) and a bigger name guy gets cut to keep this thing going. You can't keep paying Josh $18M a year and guys like Von can't keep getting restructured.
  5. Pretty obvious that Bates will be the backup C for Morse this year. I've been trying to "guess" what Beane's plans are for the future at C. Lots of fans think Bates is a shoe in but I had my doubts. I'm going to watch what happens in camp with Bates. He easily could be the odd man out as starter at G. If that happens, he may take a lot of snaps at C this camp. If Bates is not taking snaps at C, then I don't know what his long-term role will be, and one would think they will have to draft a C next year. On the other hand, if Bates does take a good amount of C snaps, he may just be their answer to C when Morse retires or is a cap casualty. In the meantime, Bates will be relegated to the prime IOL backup. I don't think he would want that role next season. I'm going to watch this closely and I guess I'm changing my mind and hoping Bates can be the answer. It would sure make thing a lot easier for the future. I wonder if Josh has any input to this?
  6. Now that the draft is over, I feel Dhop's chances of being a Buffalo Bills is about zero.
  7. If Ken Dorsey can't get the ball to Kincaid in his 2nd season as OC, he shouldn't be one. I'm not worried about it.
  8. I'm not sure if there will be a change in scheme and if so, what that means. I could surmise that nickel will still be a big part regardless. Taron played 92% of snaps last year. I can see that number going down. How much we would have to see. Having Kincaid in camp may be a good way to attempt any D change to counter some of the havoc Kelce wreaks. I don't see if a change is coming that it's immediate and absolute. Taron's contract is up after next season FWIW.
  9. Does anyone have a link to Beane's presser? I don't see on the Bills website yet.
  10. I have received a lot of flack for suggesting that Beane get a gunner/ST guy to replace Siran Neal. Nothing against Siran at all, but he will be costing $6.7M over the next 2 years. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/siran-neal-25255/ I just think a UDFA like this guy might be a cheap replacement.
  11. I kind of think your right, as of now. Things could really change up if Shakir is improved. It would be a great problem to have.
  12. I'm betting that it comes down to how Shakir and Harty end up fitting that will decide who is doing what. You add Kincaid and there is too many different possibilities to sort out now. Camp will be interesting! Diggs and Davis start as WR1 and WR2. Sherfield is the WR5. Shorter starts at WR6.
  13. I'm expecting this might happen in a certain position every year. Core is getting set and competitive teams with QBs signed have to go through it. Beane needs to hit on his DL picks next time around for sure.
  14. McDermott got his late round DB.
  15. They are not getting executed. Let's see how Jones and Settle play this season. Another in next years draft and an UFA and it's full. Next year is next year and I'm quite sure Beane can read a roster.
  16. I totally agree. Take a flyer on this guy. Could be a Division II sleeper.
  17. This last pick is solidifying my belief that Bates is being highly considered to replace Morse next year. Morse doesn't need to take all the 1st team snaps in camp and some should go to Bates plus all the 2nd team snaps. If Bates is the plan, he needs lots of reps at Center. Broeker with his versatility would be in competition with Ike. I am NOT going to criticize good competition on the OL.
  18. Good chance Houston's 6th will be near the top of the round.
  19. Agree. It's tight for 6th rounders to make this team's 53. Vorhees as a red shirt would maybe leave a spot for Ojomo.
  20. Is it true the Bills interviewed him? There are 5 locked WRs so he seems to have the inside track for the 6th spot among the Reserve/Futures guys and some UDFAs. It will be fun seeing if the big man can tune-up his weaknesses.
  21. Definitely not thinking that this season.
  22. I have mentioned that this is a possibility to be the base D. It seems to me that other teams have figured out how to often beat the constant nickel. If Taron Johnson's role is diminished there could be a chance he gets moved in the future. His cap hit for a part time nickel could be questioned. With the Safeties and LBs on the team it is a logical assumption something may be changing in the base D. I'm patient enough to wait to see what happens with these players and their roles.
  23. Cody was a RT. He couldn't do that and couldn't move to RG. I see your "athletic" point, but Torrence is a full-time natural RG. Let's see what an NFL camp will do with him.
  24. Um? Plug and Play at RG.
  25. Thank you. I don't see the comparison at all.
