Outside of MLB, Where are the Bills Worse in 2023?
ColoradoBills replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess I could make an argument that the 2023 Buffalo Bills pass catchers (WRs, TEs and RBs) are superior to the same from 2022. With Dorsey having a year under his belt I have optimism for a good year in the passing game. Same might be said for the running game. A healthy Josh Allen season could make for a fun year. It's up to the OL to tie it all together. -
I'm excited to see the one-two punch from Cook and Harris. Ray on the PS could be a good insurance policy. Hope he keeps improving.

Outside of MLB, Where are the Bills Worse in 2023?
ColoradoBills replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall
I truly believe they were physically and emotionally drained. Just as a fan I know I was. It was a crazy season and it's over and done with. While football can be dissected about the skill of a player there is a lot more that gets these guys up to playing their best other than bragging rights and money. They are coming off 2 tough post seasons and they know the mettle of their prime opponents. I'm curious how they handle all that this year. I'm sticking to what Jordan Poyer said in his "Welcome Back" presser as the key. When asked, "What does this team need to do to win it all?" His answer was, "Finish". I give this team a pretty good chance of doing just that. -

Camp is a week old, and I guess my age has tempered me not over-react to much at this time of year. Rosters "on paper" are just that. Even the preseason games don't tell me much as to how the team will be playing in the playoffs and the playoffs is all that matters. Are there some questions regarding the starters and prime depth? You betcha. Do any of us really know what will ultimately happen? I have to give it a resounding "no". That uncertainty is the prime reason I love to watch the games as the season progresses! For the guys on the 90-man roster all I have to say is keeping working hard and give us your best. Stay as healthy as possible and give me the entertainment that it's all about. Football brings out the hopeful "little kid" in me and at this time of year I cannot help but be hopeful! Go Bills! -
Week 1 has the Dolphins going on the road to play the Chargers. It will tell me a lot about both of those teams. If I still bet, I would have my money on the Chargers.

Did we do enough? I think we are getting there.
ColoradoBills replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Evaluating the OL before the pads even go on in camp would be speculation at best. My off-season number one hope was for improved OL play. I will be watching for the camp reports with interest. The 2 guard spots should have good competition for both starters and depth. Fingers crossed that the entire unit stay relatively healthy, especially Spencer Brown. He needs a good camp for any chance for significant improvement. -
Thanks @T&Cfor posting this video. Can't wait to see Chapter 2. I like what I see so far. I get the feeling that Terry and his team are going to build something we will love and be proud of. It seems to me the stadium will have a seat to satisfy each type of Bills fan. It will be a great day when I get to watch a game there for the first time! Go Bills!

McDermott & Beane Extended Through 2027
ColoradoBills replied to BritBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, it's comforting to see that nothing has changed on the board during my break. The way I see it, Terry Pegula owns the team and seems satisfied (for the near future) in Beane and McDermott. I kind of feel the same way. For all the fans that hate the move, I can't change your minds, so I won't try. Just a comment on some of the points made in this thread. Andy Reid did take all those seasons to win a SB. Maybe it's only because he has an elite QB. I'm of the opinion the Mahomes could win without Reid as long as he had a decent OC. Just my opinion and I'm not taking anything away from Andy. It's true that Sean Payton won his only SB in his 4th year. It has been followed by never winning another for 11 seasons WITH an ELITE QB. so, if the criteria for HCs is they must win in the first X number of years, what's the criteria of these ELITE HCs who have won only 1 SB for consecutive SB misses before they are retreads or "one hit wonders"? Something to ponder. All that matters is this season Beane and McDermott are running the show. I'm going to watch to see how they and the players do. Go Bills! -
Schein-Cook is on his "guaranteed to improve" list
ColoradoBills replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see Cook and a healthy Harris splitting rushing attempts with Cook getting a bit more. Bills have averaged 440 rushing attempts (including Allen) the last 2 seasons. I see that being about the same. Cook will lead that with around 175 (10 per game). It should be determined by game plans against the opposing Ds and game situations. -
If Floyd is not re-signed next year the Bills will take a $4.3M dead money hit in 2024. It will not go on till 2026. Take a look at this gem from the Saints GM. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/cameron-jordan-7739/

How will the defense be different this year?
ColoradoBills replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
"Going rogue" would be the last 2 words I would use for Frazier's play calling. As for the term "delusional", I would use that for any fan that thinks Sean is calling the D only because Frazier will be back calling the Buffalo Bills defense next season. Frazier is out because he is too predictable, and Sean will call the plays this year while training one of the assistants to take over next season. -
If DHop wants a one-year deal then everything you said makes sense. If he wants a multi-year high dollar deal (which I'm assuming he does at this moment) then it could cause a true need to re-tool the team a lot earlier than I would like. Beane has pushed the signings pretty much to the limit and still maintaining the mantra he has said over and over he wants to keep. That's having a contender every year. I know there is a huge rift in fans on the board over this, but he is being true to his word. I think Sean has done a very good job keeping the locker room believing in the future.

The Salary Cap for the Bills Right Now
ColoradoBills replied to JackKemp's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree with a lot of that. The thing about Tre is Beane had zero control of what happened. If his play falls way off Beane has only a couple of choices. Move on with a cut/trade or see if he can fill a Hyde roll. Anyway, no matter what happens, I don't put it on Beane. Von's situation is pretty much exactly how you put it IMO too. Just have to wait and see how it plays out. If Von's play falls off I got to put the miss on Beane. Bad luck sure, but it was a risky move. As for Knox, I know it's the thing now to hate his contract, but I don't see Dawson going anywhere, anytime soon. IMO when Beane drafted his wide-out TE with a 1st it took DHop (or other WR worries) off the table. We probably won't see the fruits of the Kincaid/Knox duo until later in the season, but I like the possibilities. If the front 5 OL can jell those 2 could wreak havoc. As for cap relief next year, Beane has a ton of options to reduce the deficit with moving on from a few of the Morse, Hines, Harty, Neal and I'm going to throw a name out that may get me some grief, a Taron Johnson trade. Low dead cap with a lot of cap space created with all these players. The only other thing I would add is what will Dawkins play be this season? If he is going to stay, next spring is a re-sign. If that doesn't happen they could be looking for a new LT in 2025. -
Personally, I think the Bills have had some decent talent on the DL. I do suspect that they were not used as a unit as well as they could have been. I'm not diss'ing Frazier, but I think he was too conservative with calling the D. I have a real hope that Sean pushes the D a lot more this season. It won't work all the time but then it's up to Josh to bring the W home.

The Salary Cap for the Bills Right Now
ColoradoBills replied to JackKemp's topic in The Stadium Wall
I enjoy the whole "cap-ology" of football. Beane has used the restructure tool a lot lately. The defining result of how well a GM uses the tool IMO can be seen in how much "dead money" is used to perform its function. In the last 3 years the Saints have had a total of $118M in dead money, Beane has $40M. That is the bottom line of all the "shenanigan's". Not all, but most of the "bad" dead money, comes directly from void years. Beane is looking at $7M (as of now) next season and the Saints are hovering around $55M just in void years. That is dollar for dollar "paying Peter" money that is not used for current roster players. If the day comes when Beane has too much dead money, I will question his planning. In the meantime, I like what I have seen this season. Go Bills! -
Filthy Beast was on my "ignore" list long before he left the forum. It's a much-underused function of the board. Everyone has a right to post, I also have the right not to listen to bull-droppings!

The Salary Cap for the Bills Right Now
ColoradoBills replied to JackKemp's topic in The Stadium Wall
They have recently lost Hendrickson, Rankins, Armstead, Marcus Williams, Mathieu, Onyemata as just some of the big dollar guys. They let a lot of middling players go every year too because they can't pay them. They do all this for a sub .500 record. I'll take Brandon Beane's strategy over the Saints any day. Any GM can get under the cap at any time, that's not the question. Darek Carr is now the savior for the team. I have my doubts that it will work out for a Super Bowl run. That's all that matters.
