  1. I have a junk email that I give out. I keep it solely to give out for things I don’t care about. When I’m bored, I go through and delete most things immediately. Many other things I unsubscribe. Other things I save for later, and end up ignoring.
  2. No love for John Wayne? Sands of Iwo Jima Return to Bataan They were Expendable Operation Pacific Flying Leathernecks The Wings of Eagles
  3. That right there is a depressing movie. A good one for sure, but what an ending. That one made me think of The Lighthorsemen which was good, but not as depressing. Both are WW1 movies featuring Australians.
  4. Many good ones mentioned already. I’ll add a favorite of mine.... The Devil’s Brigade
  5. Once a year. They have blood drives at work four times a year, and I generally participate once.
  6. I like the idea that a guy in the press box could stop the game and initiate a second look. The trouble is, there are calls such as holding that occur so often it’s hard to know when it’s crossed a line and should be called. I could definitely see accusations of bias.
  7. I recently replaced the faucet in the kitchen. Screw on flexible hoses. Old ones were 1/2 inch. New ones were 3/8 inch. Really!? Another trip to Home Depot to buy adapters. And the adapters weren’t clearly labeled. They had some weird name/description that didn’t make it obvious to me at the time.
  8. Yes, yes I do. Lawn care, snow removal, minor home repairs, yes. I’m not very picky about my lawn. I fertilized it once, about twenty years ago. What a mistake, it just made the grass grow faster and thicker. What’s the point in that? It made mowing a bigger nuisance. I’ll do minor plumbing, finish carpentry, minor electrical. Car maintenance, no, except for wiper replacement and washer fluid refill. My wife has a coworker who has a small engine repair business on the side. He’s been doing the annual maintenance on my snowblowers and lawnmowers for the past three years. That’s a blessing. He charges practically nothing since he knows us, but we give him a little extra money because we feel guilty and we are glad to have him do it.
  9. There’s a Mountain Men marathon on one of those high number channels. I’ve probably seen most of them, but it’s still more entertaining.
  10. Chiefs will be embarrassed this week like the Chargers were last week. I hope Suh gets a few sacks in the Super Bowl.
  11. I keep wondering when more coaches are going to realize that punting is not always a good idea. If the other team’s offense is moving the ball practically at will, punting from midfield likely won’t slow them down much. Go for it more often! Some coaches are starting to get it, others don’t. Analytics.
  12. College used to be a place to gain general knowledge, and to demonstrate your aptitude and motivation, and to prove to a prospective employer that you are a good risk. That model died decades ago. Now college is almost the same as a trade school. Employers want you to hit the ground running. Sadly, the communication and psychology majors of the world haven’t figured this out yet.
  13. That reminds me of the interviews and background checks that some dog breeders will put you through before you are allowed to buy one of their puppies. It’s harder to get approval for raising a dog than it is to raise a kid.
  14. It’s not Brady or Belichick that I dislike. It’s Gronkowski and Edelman. I believe they both will be suffering for many years based on the hits and nagging injuries. I actually think Edelman is an amazing talent, because he seems to get open almost every time, he catches practically everything, and he doesn’t fumble even though he routinely gets clobbered. He just seems like a jerk. P.S. Why did the Chargers let Edelman get wide open so much, with ten yards to the nearest defender?
  15. I used to do things like hiking, long distance bike riding, skiing (downhill and cross country), running (a little), tennis (a little). Now I just sit around and complain about how sore my knees are. I’m betting bionic knees are in my future.
  16. When our schnauzer was getting older, like ten years old, we decided she could sleep in our bed. At that age she was pretty calm and didn’t move around much in the night. She was the size of a typical cat, so no big deal. She lived to be fifteen. She was a good dog.
  17. not quite as NSFW as some, but ....Susanna Hoffs. ?
