My daughter had a friend in grad school who was from India. He couldn’t understand why popularity was tied to athletic ability in the US. In his school, popularity was tied to the ability to help you with your homework.

I’m not thrilled to see a victory via penalty kicks. I’m just a dumb ‘merican and I like to see scores as a part of the flow of the game. Kind of like deciding a basketball game with free throws, or a football game with a field goal. Yes, it’s part of the game and it’s suspenseful, but I personally like to see scores as a result of teamwork and speed during the course of the game.
