  1. There was definitely some banter about Dede’s feeble stache Maybe Archuleta lives a clean, conservative lifestyle and would never be in a position to understand the reference. I doubt it, but you never know.
  2. For a few years after the glory years I would get mad at the world when they lost. Now I just shrug. However, when they win I am more enthusiastic about watching other games and highlight shows. When they lose, I tend to avoid football media for a while so that the loss isn’t rubbed in as much.
  3. I liked most of Archuleta’s comments. I heard the dirty Sanchez reference and I laughed. He obviously didn’t know what he was saying. He was frustrated with all the penalties for roughing, late hits, etc. He pointed out that it was obvious that guys were trying to hold back, going for glancing blows, not leading with the head, etc. but they would still get the penalty. Most people understand the goal of making the game safer, but some of the calls are the ticky tack, and he would point it out. Of course, he was a defensive player so he could be expected to gripe about those types of penalties.
  4. Me mind on fire -- Me soul on fire -- Feeling hot hot hot Party people -- All around me feeling hot hot hot What to do - On a night like this Music sweet - I can't resist We need a party song - A fundamental jam
  5. You could travel the world But nothing comes close To the golden coast Once you party with us You'll be falling in love Ooh oh ooh oh oh ooh California girls We're unforgettable Daisy dukes Bikinis on top Sun-kissed skin So hot We'll melt your popsicle
  6. A gathering of angels appeared above my head They sang to me this song of hope and this is what they said They said come sail away come sail away Come sail away with me
  7. How many years have you spent building up your reputation so that you can trap people with this thread? At least it isn’t a “would ya” thread.
  8. He rocks in the tree tops all day long Hoppin' and a-boppin' and singing his song All the little birdies on Jaybird Street Love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet Rockin' robin, rock rock Rockin' robin' Blow rockin' robin 'Cause we're really gonna rock tonight
  9. Reminds me of the song lyrics “home on the range where the deer and the antelope play.” They aren’t antelope. Maybe elk?
  10. The connection I was making was the way a mispronounced term was adapted. Pennsylvania Deutsche became Pennsylvania Dutch now here’s where I’m not really sure... I believe that a French term for beautiful river is beau fleuve, which was mispronounced to become Buffalo. That may be an urban legend, I’m sure you know more than I do on the subject. I think the point he was trying to make is that they are pronounced with the middle parts of the words missing.
  11. It’s kind of like the Pennsylvania Dutch were actually German
  12. Also, clapboard is pronounced “clabbird”
  13. When my daughter got married, my wife had a lot of input. Many tears were shed. The son in law and I were getting frustrated and angry because of all the stress and emotion. It actually was a successful and enjoyable day in the end, but I’m still not sure it was worth the toll it took on the people involved. That’s the stuff my son and his fiancé want to avoid. And don’t get me started on the cost of professional wedding photographers.
  14. I recently went to a wedding at a converted industrial site. You’re right, it’s the latest trend. https://premierweddingvenuescny.com/venues/the-cannery/
  15. For a TV show, the Rockford Files had a good car chase in almost every episode. I mean a good car chase, not Dukes of Hazard stuff. Not to mention the Rockford Files had one of the best theme songs on TV. I couldn’t find any good videos of car chases, but here's the theme song...
  16. Mack Herron aka Mini Mack a 5’ 5” running back for the Patriots in 1974 he made a splash, then he faded away
  17. Come feed the little birds, show them you care And you'll be glad if you do Their young ones are hungry Their nests are so bare All it takes is tuppence from you
  18. Is biweekly twice a week, or every other week? When you dust, are you adding dust or removing dust? Why is the entire bread part of a pizza the crust, but with bread the crust is just the outer part? When you make coffee, you use ground coffee and are left with coffee grounds. In your car, having a lot of gas is good, but in shoutbox conversations, it seems to be bad.
  19. We are having a family reunion/party this coming summer, so that takes the pressure off. My son and his fiancé are both 30, so in my opinion, they should get down to business pretty soon! Fortunately, my daughter who is 33 has a four year old daughter, so we have one grandchild. Unfortunately, the whole pregnancy/childbirth/infancy experience was not as smooth as it could’ve been, so my daughter is reluctant to do it again.
  20. I’m in a similar situation with my son and his fiancé. My son’s attitude is that they aren’t ready for kids yet, and there’s no hurry to get married if no kids are imminent. My wife and I have said that we want them to get married so that we can have a party/family reunion, and we will pay. They’re not interested. ?
  21. That’s all it takes, but a little bit of coffee grounds will end up in the sink. Our garbage disposal broke a while ago and we’ve been living without it. A spoonful of coffee grounds in the sink is enough to be a chore to clean.
  22. On weekdays my wife uses a Kuerig with coffee that is bought in bean form and she grinds it right before using it. The coffee is held in one of those little plastic adapter cups with a mesh on the bottom. I’m lazy and I use k-cups (blasphemy; I know). On weekends we use a filter basket that sits on top of a carafe. For larger amounts we use a regular, cheap Mr. Coffee type drip machine. Occasionally we use a French press, but they are annoying to clean. If it’s a smallish batch, we grind the beans ourselves. For the Mr. Coffee we use pre ground.
  23. I couldn't stop movin' when it first took hold It was a warm spring night at the old town hall There was a group called The Jokers, they were layin' it down Don't cha know I'm never gonna lose that funky sound Rock and roll, Hoochie Koo Lawdy mama light my fuse Rock and roll, Hoochie Koo Truck on out and spread the news
