Boycott another *pats Super Bowl
Gray Beard replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. I’m not a big believer in conspiracy theories 2. As Bills fans our dislike for the pats is greater than most 3. If it’s pats again or Ravens, which scenario gets more viewers? Does it matter? 4. Both QBs are worthy of hype, so does it matter? -
When I was in high school in the 70s, one of the radio stations that I listened to was an oldies station. I enjoy songs from the doo wap era. I’m not as much a fan of the harmonizing slow songs that were also popular back then

I occasionally wear a vest because sometimes my back feels cold but the rest of my body feels fine. I’m talking about a lightweight sweater or fleece vest, not a heavy winter vest. It’s a fairly recent phenomenon. I get accused of dressing like an old man when I wear it. If the shoe fits.... I don't understand the utility of a puffy winter vest. The style that I can never understand is women who wear turtle neck shirts that are short sleeved (or sleeveless). But once you enter into the realm of confusing female fashion choices, you’re on a slippery slope. I’m also a little confused by short sleeve shirts that are made of heavyweight material.

How is your family going to handle Thanksgiving?
Gray Beard replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ll watch it on my iPad. I don’t know if my tv has the capability to do picture in picture. I will also DVR if I decide I want to see it later. -
I haven’t seen the new one, but I bet I won’t like it as much. Modern action movies tend to have too much emphasis on long CGI action sequences from different angles, switching between zoomed in and zoomed out, with witty dialog, and loud sound effects. It gets annoying.

A great game, I’m a happy guy. However I want to point out a very, very, very small point of frustration for me... First downs were almost always straight ahead runs. Nothing interesting until second down. That’s better than past years, when first and second downs were always straight ahead runs. Those first down runs rarely gained much yardage. I’ll be impressed if they ever do something else on first down.

Still worried about the Bills' offense?
Gray Beard replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Glad for the win. I’m a happy guy. Did they run the same running play on every first down? The first down yardage seemed pretty low. That puts them in a hole. I kept thinking that a first down pass, sweep, option, or something other than a straight ahead run would have been a good idea. -

I imagine my wife and daughter will decree that the TV shall be off, unless it’s needed to calm down an antsy four year old with a Disney movie or something. I may may be able to sneak some viewing on my phone or iPad while doing dishes, which is a win-win. I get to watch the game while avoiding my in-laws, and I don’t mind doing dishes. -
[Incomplete Title] We are and 8-3 and we will...........
Gray Beard replied to Cygnus99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what I believe will happen. I’m not particularly confident about those two wins. The Steelers and the Jets are capable of playing well. The Jets may be extra motivated to play spoiler for the Bills in the last game. -

No football for me. Family coming in from out of town. Four generations in one room. No way I’m going to be able to get free. I am happy to spend my day with my daughter, SIL, and granddaughter. It’s the MIL and FIL I can do without. Did I mention that they are Fox News junkies? -
The best peanut butter and jelly combination

We have also been told that ours aren’t true blackberries. Ours have many big, hard seeds in the berries, and they grow on shoots that are very thorny. The shoots probably only grow to about 10 feet high. If you grind the berries up and pass them through a sieve to remove the seeds, they make a jam that looks and tastes like blackberry jam. -

The best peanut butter and jelly combination
Gray Beard replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
We used to have wild blackberry bushes in our back yard. I don’t know why, but they are mostly gone now. 30 years ago my wife picked enough to make several jars of jam. I made her buy a sieve so that she could remove the seeds, otherwise I think it would be inedible. It was good stuff. I think there might be a few jars still in the basement, but I don’t think I would want to eat it after 30 years. -

When I was renting cheap apartments after college, I read somewhere that you could use toothpaste to patch small holes in wallboard. I bet marshmallow fluff would work just as well, maybe even better.
