  1. Thigen has nothing to offer, and Brad Smith isn't really a quarterback. They can afford to get two new guys as back-ups to see if they find the right guy. I would draft one in a middle round, bring in a FA, bring in a UDFA or two, and let them all show what they can do in camp and pre-season. Keep the best two and get them some playing time whenever the Bills are either way ahead or way behind.
  2. They didn't act that way for Pepsi Max
  3. You sounded so smooth and knowledgeable, I bet there will soon be hundreds of new people signing up to be on this forum.
  4. Disappointed in the defense, especially linebackers (duh). Disappointed that Fitz was so inaccurate. Disappointed in the pass wacky play calling when it became clear that the defenses were expecting it. Disappointed that receivers were unreliable (Hagan may be a keeper). Disappointed with injuries to key players combined with lack of depth. Impressed with Spiller. Impressed with Byrd and Wilson. Impressed that the O-line didn't implode with all the injuries. Impressed with Chandler. Impressed with Fred Jackson.
  5. Excellent post. I pretty much agree with everything. I got a big smile on my face when you said Corey McIntyre should be used more. That has always been something that has exasperated me.
  6. I sometimes think they should punt less and go for it on fourth down more, especially if they are near mid field. And Jaclyn Smith was always my favorite in Charlie's Angels. A little stiff as an actress, but mighty fine to look at.
  7. Denver - Mario Haggan (LB) also McGahee as a Bronco instead of a Raven Xavier Omon - Bronco practice squad Kirk Chambers - Atlana Joique Bell - Detroit Ashlee Palmer - Detroit I give up. I'm bored now.
  8. They had a pregame interview with Cruz and talked to him about it. It's in honor of his grandmother. He only does it if the Giants are winning or the game is very close. He actually seemed like a good kid.
  9. You never know what you are going to get. If the Bills had played Miami early in the season, it would have been an easy victory. Oakland, San Diego and Kansas City also had Jekyll and Hyde seasons, so the games could have been different depending on when they were played. San Fran only became really good this season. etc., etc., etc. Awfully hard to predict.
  10. I've been thinking for a while that the second string QB next year will be an interesting situation. Maybe they should no longer call Smith a QB, so they have two extra QB slots to experiment with. I doubt they will be in a position to draft one of the highly touted QBs, like RG3. And they won't trade up, not Nix's style. Do they keep Thigpen and Smith? That would be terrible, and evidence that management is not serious about turning the ship around. Do they bring in a late round or UDFA experiment and see if he is any good? What if the experimental guy is not very good, do they try again the next year with somebody else? In the meantime, they have Fitz, like it or not. Do they go after somebody else's second stringer? Would that be an upgrade to Fitz? That's what Thigpen is. That would be expensive, so it is unlikely to happen.
  11. I remember reading something about that. I have been hoping that happens, it would be the best scenario for everyone.
  12. Don't forget that center, Colin Brown. I think he looks pretty good for O-line depth, especially if Wood isn't up to full strength when the season starts.
  13. How much does this hurt Stevie financially, if at all? Let's say he wanted 5 years, $35M, $15M guaranteed. Does it now look like 5 years, $30M, $12M guaranteed? Would a team reduce the offer because he is a loose canon, or does his ability cause some team to give him what he wants in spite of the foolishness? Would the Bills still offer him top dollar, or would they be less willing to negotiate at his point? I guess what I am asking is whether this will have a long term impact on Stevie financially, or does talent trump foolishness?
  14. +1 well said on all fronts
  15. Somebody said he tweeted before the game that he had plans. You may be right about him being warned.
  16. Agree. Sit him for the rest of the half. Losing the game to teach him a lesson? I'm not sure who is getting the lesson.
  17. I think if they let Edwards go, it will be done gracefully. He will find another job, or they will shuffle the duties between Edwards and Wannstedt. They won't "fire" him in some obvious way. He is a friend of Gailey, and the Bills don't want the perception that coaches are on a short leash.
  18. This year's draft will be interesting. Since the 2011 draft was the best one in a long time, will the 2012 draft also be good, or was the 2011 draft an aberration? I will be counting on the commentary from this forum to get some feedback as the draft picks come in. As a Bills fan, the draft becomes an event to anticipate, and the emotions can go anywhere from jubilation to despair. A range of emotions that most Bills fans can understand.
  19. There is a big difference between being a lower seed in the playoffs and being a one or two seed in the playoffs. Many of the "Fitz sucks, Gailey sucks, Edwards sucks" people will admit that this team could make it to a wildcard game with better play calling (offense and defense), along with upgraded talent in a few key areas (e.g., pass rushing OLB, deep threat receiver, left tackle). However, if you want to get a first round bye and go deep into the playoffs, then major changes become necessary. I am always surprised that people want to throw everything out and start over because they have a "Superbowl or Bust" mentality. Baby steps. You have to walk before you can run. You have to crawl before you can walk. You have to fall down before you can crawl. The Bills have fallen down, now it is time to start to crawl.
  20. I think for the first three or four rounds, it would be easy to do a better job. Some of the late round picks have been pretty surprising. But, yeah, pretty awful for a professional organization.
  21. I like Coughlin, and have never liked the Cowboys, so I hope the Giants win. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan throws Sanchez under the bus if the Jets lose. That will be interesting to see.
  22. The other factor that I feel is important is what happens when a play doesn't work. If you can reliably gain 4 yards per run, then run forever. Heck, if you can reliably gain 2.5 yards per run, then run forever. What happens when a run is stuffed? The tendency is to go straight to the pass in order to get a bigger chunk of yardage. What happens when a pass is incomplete? Ditto. The idea that a running play could still be called when a run was stuffed or a pass was incomplete is a tough sell in the best case, and downright impossible with the play calling tendencies this season.
  23. Excellent point. A lot of knee injuries this year. Some guys come back faster than others from those. Too soon to tell whether the full group will be back from this year or whether there will be holes to fill. When they bring a guy in at this point, I assume they don't expect him to play on Sunday. Are they looking them over to decide whether or not to invite the guy back for OTAs? Will some of these guys get multiple offers? Is there any sort of bidding that would go on for a guy to come to Buffalo for OTAs rather than somewhere else?
