  1. I give the marketing staff of the NFL network credit. That's a pretty good tag line for a game between two teams that probably aren't on anybody's top ten power ranking.
  2. To add to the depression, if these two leave then replacements will be needed, which could impact draft decisions. New QB? New LB? Nah, let's draft some DBs to replace Byrd and McGee!
  3. Thank you for posting this. I have been wondering that same thing for over a year, but I lacked the testicular fortitude to actually put the thought in print.
  4. The past two games (especially the Titans game) Chan seems to have called for the empty backfield a little less than he has in previous games (I don't have statistics, it's just a gut feel based on watching the games). The tight end gets a lot of short passes thrown his way. The offense has consistently scored 20+ points, which isn't too bad. FItz handcuffs the plays that can be called with his accuracy problems. The quick release pass plays help disguise some weaknesses with the offensive line. All of this seems to indicate that Chan isn't totally inept with the design of the offense. However, those long passes on third and short, the insistence on wasting a few plays each game with the wildcat, and the abandonment of the running game at the first sign of trouble are all reasons to become frustrated with him and to curse him during the game. I won't even discuss the fact that the head coach should be concerned with the horrible defense, but apparently Chan is satisfied by delegating that. In the Navy, a ship's captain is responsible for everything that goes on aboard ship. I believe a HEAD coach should be responsible for something that has gone as horribly wrong as this defense.
  5. Jauron had Perry Fewell as DC and the amazing combination of Turk Schonert and Alex Van Pelt as OCs. I think they did better because Jauron and Fewell were able to come up with good defenses, and the offense was simple and straightforward.
  6. I agree completely! Spiller has never said anything in a news conference or with twitter or anywhere else that could be construed as negative or whiney, I hope he is a Buffalo Bill for many years to come! I also want to give a small shout out to McKelvin for being so darn happy all the time. I like the guy.
  7. Pears to IR is too bad, the line needs all the depth it can get, and he was pretty good. McGee has had so many injury problems I almost forgot he was on the team. Potter was an extravagance. Easley will be interesting. He is taller than Jones, so maybe he will be a bigger target for Fitz.
  8. I thought your comment was spot on. Spiller is great and one of the only bright spots this year, but if you use a RB too much he will break down. You can't build your season around a RB these days. I say these days because somebody will mention Barry Sanders or Walter Payton or OJ Simpson or some other RB from a long time ago. Of course, Gailey could surely* give him at least twice as many chances to carry the ball as he has been lately, but that is another story. *don't call me Shirley!!
  9. http://espn.go.com/n...ry-gibbs-new-dc It's a lot more than just waiving a CB. Apparently there are teams out there that realize they have nowhere to go but up... in Kansas City: "Coach Romeo Crennel sacked himself as defensive coordinator, and plans to spend more time with the team's inept offense"

  11. I agree, but I wish the scapegoat was Wannstedt instead of Fitz. I would like to see them draft a QB and then restructure Fitz's contract so that he stays on as a backup, but that probably won't happen. I think Fitz gets a big payday if he stays on next year with his current contract, so he may end up getting cut for salary reasons.
  12. Widcat nonsense needs to stop. It worked a little bit for a little while but not anymore. Stop it. Just Stop it.
  13. I know I commented in the shoutbox about a long throw along the far sideline on 3rd down to a well covered receiver. I should put that phrase into autotype because I use it in every commentary that I write about this team,
  14. I would like to see a victory or a blow out. Obviously a victory is the strong preference. A victory will signal the turnaround and the current regime has finally figured something out. A blow out will signal the beginning of the end of the current regime. A victory would likely involve some scheme changes, such as avoiding long passes in crucial situations, and opening up the defense to be more unpredictable. A good try in a defeat will just keep hope alive and keep the current regime entrenched. I also don't want to see anyone get hurt.
  15. Maybe there will be a domino effect. He'll go somewhere and that coach gets fired, then that coach goes somewhere so another coach gets fired, etc. After about 10 coaches get fired, maybe one of them will agree to come to Buffalo.
  16. The Misfits (in honor of Wannstedt saying they miss their assignments to fit into gaps) Not to be confused with Miss Fitz, which would imply that the QB throws (and squeals) like a girl. (Sorry, that last comment was immature, unnecessary, disrespectful and uncalled for)
  17. I wonder how Spiller would do in a "one cut and go" type of offense. If they could convince him to do it, I bet he would be awesome.
  18. Wasn't Gilbride the OC of the Oilers for the famous Bills comeback game? He insisted on passing with a big lead, and that let the Bills get back into the game. Another pass wacky coach.
  19. I am hoping that acknowledging the problem is the first step toward fixing the problem.
  20. I am not thrilled with Gailey but I am fine with having him stick around for another year. The offense has been scoring pretty well, and lately he seems to be calling for run plays a litlle more than he did last year. If they draft a QB, I think Gailey will be a good coach for a rookie QB. Changing coaches every three years is not a model for success. The defense is what stinks, and now we know that Nix knows it and isn't shy about saying it. That is good news. Something will happen sooner or later to address the terrible defense. Maybe not in time to save this season, but with a new DC and a rookie QB, the marketing machine will be able to sell tickets for next year, and isn't that what it's all about?
  21. They run up the gut We play the Nickel defense Eight yards per carry
