Thank you. I wish there was a "sarcasm" emoticon.

Two years ago, the team started off strong and then fell apart for the second half of the season. Therefore, you are not allowed to feel good about the team until they have won at least nine or ten games. Any good feelings or enthusasim before that point is an indication that you have drunk the kool aid. It almost sounds like you have to be a band wagon fan to be a serious fan.

Good news for Torell Troupe and Marcus Easley??

It's waaaay to early for conjecture, but Rogers and Kaufman seem like they could be candidates for Practice Squad. -

I agree. You could also say Staying Alive as a sequal to Saturday Night Fever. -

Eddie and the Cruisers Indana Jones and the Temple of Doom was not as good as Raiders of the Lost Ark, but then Indana Jones and the Last Crusade was pretty good. -
I went to pro-football-reference.com and looked up some stats. Just as I expected, Lindell's field goal percentages drop off significantly for FGs beyond 40 yards. Obviously every kicker's statistics drop off for longer ranges, but it seems as though Lindell's dropped off a little more than most. His touchback percentage is also dropping fast. I don't want to trash the guy, I just think it's time to move on. I hope this coaching staff has no intention of running the wildcat. I just think that Smith is a good all around contributor and a voice of experience which may make it worth keeping him. I don't know anything about his contract (other than he is paid a lot more than most people think he should be), and I don't know how much cap room would be saved by cutting him. If cutting him saves enough cap room to sign somebody else that fills a bigger need, then I would be all for it.

I predict Brad Smith sticks around and they put one or two rookie WRs on the practice squad as insurance against injury. I think Lindell is as good as gone. The rookie has to really stink to lose the job at this point. I always liked Lindell, he is bigger and tougher than most kickers. He actually made a few tackles over the last few years, which is rare for a kicker (and an indication of how bad the special team play has been, since the kicker shouldn't have to make any tackles). But he was never a great kicker, he's getting old, and it's time to move on. I predict the QB, LS, P and K will all be from Florida State this year.

I can understand the curiosity to see how the season unfolds. The complete coaching change with a youth movement, four QBs and none of them ever played in a game for the team last year, new receivers, new linebackers, etc. Definitely going to be interesting, but not losing sleep over it. Remember last year? Fitz was going to be good because his ribs were healed, Super Mario was going to energize the defense, Kyle Williams would be at full strength again, John Potter would get a touchback on every kickoff, etc. Playoffs for sure! That's why they play the games.

It will be good to get some reports about players running routes, throwing passes, catching balls, etc. Anything is better than rehashing the draft or past failures. I just realized it was 40 years ago this summer that I was at football camp for high school. I remember it like it was yesterday. Talk about past failures.

Fred Davis is kicking himself post draft
Gray Beard replied to Floridabillsfan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always associate the word resign with "to quit" but on this board it means "to sign a new contract." I sometimes get confused when people talk about a player on the Bills who "resigns" as a good thing. I think it should be re-sign just to make a distinction. -
Piling On - A response to the Draft Experts

This organization has made good picks in the first round for the past three years. In hindsight maybe they weren't the best possible, but they were certainly good picks nonetheless. Why doubt them now? -
Biggest Remaining Weakness (Post Draft)
Gray Beard replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Power running game is a concern. Gailey didn't like to use the fullback other than to block, but plenty of other teams use a fullback as a change of pace or short yardage option. Spiller can't carry the ball every time, and Fred is getting older and has had problems with nagging injuries and fumbles. Choice is nothing special, and they picked up Zach Brown, but I'm still not convinced they have the stable of backs that they need to get through the season. I know running backs are not usually drafted very high these days, and I hope they address this with free agency at some point. -
With TJ Graham as the small, fast receiver takem fairly high in the draft (who has questionable hands and infamously ran the wrong route at a critical time) I would be upset to see them use a high draft pick on another small, fast receiver, even if he is better on paper. Too many other holes to fill. I would rather see them draft yet another first round DB than another small, fast receiver.

The Kolb Poll and Ledger
Gray Beard replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe that Fitz made the O-Line look good because he had a quick release and could occasionally extend plays with his feet. People talk about how bad the Arizona O-Line was and how often Kolb was sacked. Maybe that was a symptom of holding on to the ball too long and not having a sixth sense about the impending rush. As a back-up and an extra arm in training camp maybe Kolb would be useful. As a QB on game day, I don't have a warm feeling at all. -
For some reason Chan thought that Choice was the guy to pound it into the endzone from a few yards out. That was a bad choice on Chan's part. Otherwise, I always thought Choice was a good number 3 back and he came across as a good guy and a good role model.

Landry - no not that one I was hoping the conversation was about Ali Landry. Hard to believe it was 15 years ago that she did that Doritos commercial in the laundromat

Jim Kelly on CBS Sunday Morning tomorrow
Gray Beard replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was only quoting what was on the CBS web site, so don't shoot the messenger. Are you saying that Frank Reich led the team to one of the Super Bowls, and Jim led the team to the other three? I wonder how many people other than die-hard Bills fans would remember that?
