  1. The second half of his rookie year he was doing pretty well. After the cast came off his arm last year he did pretty well, but its seemed as though he didn't want to grab with his weak hand to make tackles. This year is the critical year to see if he can live up to his draft position. So far I give him a B-. If he was drafted a round or two later, I would give him a B+.
  2. That could describe empty nesters with two incomes (speaking from experience). And people like us are perfectly content with our 42 inch TVs.
  3. CB Corey Graham surprises me. I understand that he is a good player, but he is new to this team.
  4. I'm rooting for the guy, but I have a nagging suspicion that he will end up as a well respected back-up QB within a few years.
  5. If I was another GM and I was thinking of TJ, I would just wait for him to be cut. There will probably be a few WRs with his level of talent and experience that will end up being cut. He isn't worth giving anything up for if you can just sign him with no strings attached in a week or so.
  6. If he hits the open market, aren't there other teams that might also want him? Shirley Surely there are teams that have QB issues other than the Bills. What makes us think that the Bills would make the best offer or that he would want to play in Buffalo?
  7. I lurk several times a day. I don't post often because I can't compete with: 1. The wit, humor and intelligence of most posters B. The football knowledge of most posters iii. The statistical analyses of many posters.
  8. He's right between Kolb and Thigpen on that Rotoworld list of QBs.
  9. You have to get all the way to 28 before you find one named Williams.
  10. When I saw the topic I thought the Super Bowl halftime show had been announced.
  11. Maybe Goodwin should think about updating the picture on his twitter page. He doesn't wear #84, and he doesn't play for Texas. Maybe he should wake up and realize who is paying him.
  12. Sanborn actually makes tackles on punt coverage. He doesn't just snap the ball and lie down. Special teams were a weakness last year, so why take away one of the more successful facets of special teams this year?
  13. I don't post much, but I lurk a few times a day. I agree with this post. However...went by the waist side ?? Is that one of those mangled phrases that TBD posters do on purpose? Is there a list of such phrases?
  14. Great Read! I'll be looking for Astro Notes thread titles from now on!
  15. Toronto Bills doesn't make sense as a name. They would have to rename the team. The Bills would be dead to me at that point. I was never one of those people who just go out and get another pet after the one I had for years dies. I wait a long time and decide what I want to do. I think that is what would happen if the Bills died.
  16. An example of a guy that didn't pass the "eyeball test". He always looked too skinny IMHO, but he could play. I wish him well and I always enjoyed seeing him play whether as a Bill or as a Saint.
  17. Oh man. Does this mean Sanborn is on the bubble? I would be nervous about replacing a guy who has been perfect for a few years and occasionally makes a tackle on punt coverage.
  18. take a leap... do you mean over the Falls? I can think of a few who might be candidates. take a leap to improve... EJ has the opportunity, let's see if he can do it. Somebody named Williams (other than Mario) will also become a household name.
  19. I am under the impression that Gillibrand is pretty bright and works hard. She champions some high profile causes such as the way sexual assaults are handled in the military. I also believe she is a stereotypical old school, big government Democrat. I do not want her anywhere near the Bills or football in general. I would be afraid that she would make a fuss over concussions, medical coverage, pensions, profit sharing, and many other serious issues that will at some point cause major changes and lead to the demise of the game we love.
  20. Influx of money and medical concerns are changing the game. Before the medical concerns were widely understood, there was a certain innocent pleasure in watching the game. Maybe we were just in denial about the head injuries. Now the injuries and the prima donna personalities are changing the game to me. I think the 70s were great, but that was probably because I was in high school and college so I was watching with friends and family (especially in college). In the 90s, the Bills were winning and my kids were old enough to watch with me, so that was a great period for me as a Bills fan.
  21. Too soon to tell. But optimistic. Watkins could be great, or not. Wait and see. He could get injured (which I would not view as a reflection on Whaley), or he could have a QB who can't/won't throw to him in coverage and let him fight for the ball. Wait and see. The linemen that were drafted have possible back or knee issues, motivation issues, or maturity issues. All picks have a certain risk to them, and these picks are no exception. Wait and see. When Pettine left, a DC with experience, but not necessarily success, was brought in quickly. Wait and see. He picked up Spikes and drafted another big LB, which should help the bad run defense. That seems like a good move. He is fishing for a RB that will help since FJ is getting older and CJ is becoming a free agent (and possibly not really fitting in with Hackett's offense). That seems like a good move. He is addressing the loss of Byrd by picking up some DBs to see if any work out. That is logical. Not sure what plan B is if EJ gets hurt or just doesn't get better. That is puzzling. He drafted some possible special teams fodder. That seems like a good move.
  22. When I am bored and surfing the net, I occasionally go to the CNN web site. From there, if you click SPORTS you go to the Bleacher Report. Until recently, clicking SPORTS in the CNN site would take you to Sports Illustrated. I think having a major outlet like CNN use them as their sports site must mean that the Bleacher Report has received some significant financial gain, and thus their product is improving. And their very very brief summary of the draft highlights was easy to follow. Probably because it was so brief.
  23. Chris Burke (whoever he is) of Sports Illustrated gave the Bills a B (his lowest grade was a C to the Colts). He said the O line picks all had health or character issues, otherwise he would have given a higher grade.
  24. The Bills were dynamic. Trading draft picks, trading players, addressing positions of need. These are not the Same Old Bills. Anybody who does not realize that and judges them harshly just doesn't get it.
