  1. Gilmore needs to learn to tackle by wrapping up a guys legs (Antoine Winfield was the best at that). All this shoulder bumping non-tackle stuff will get you hurt while also not stopping the guy with the ball. For this reason alone I am not convinced that Gilmore is as elite as he thinks. That and all the PI/Holding penalties.
  2. the tweets in response seemed to be about 60/40 with the majority laughing with Richie, and the minority trying to make a cheap shot about Richie and/or the Bills.
  3. "The hoop and the harm" Our local TV sports wannabe broadcasters say that when they give basketball highlights and a player makes a shot while being fouled. Once was ok, but they work it in multiple times per broadcast. Enough! "BillsMafia" I may be unpopular for saying this, but this annoys me. I could go on about racial stereotypes, etc., but I just find it immature, unimaginative, inappropriate, embarrassing, and just plain dumb.
  4. I'm still not convinced Rex was a good hire, and I would have voted to fire him if I had a vote. However, 1) I am not convinced that somebody better is available 2) A new coach would still require time for everyone to understand the scheme 3) This is a fairly young team, there are many guys who will get better 4) The injuries may not have given Rex a fair chance 5) Mario mailed it in 6) The offense improved 7) Whaley and Rex may now understand each other better, and should be able to get some players through draft and FA that will help 8) Firing a head coach after one year is not a good business strategy I still don't like Rex as the coach, but I understand why it was too soon to fire him.
  5. "I call him the sheriff" Jon Gruden gushing over Peyton Manning
  6. LIke all of those Williams on the Bills roster.
  7. "He can take his'n and beat your'n, and he can take your'n and beat his'n." Bum Phillips talking about Don Shula, although I also heard it was said by somebody before that. Bum is full of good quotes if anybody is interested. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bum_Phillips
  8. I think it was interesting that he implied that input from the players was discounted. Shame on the coaches if that is true.
  9. I have seen several posts that are consistent with this summary. I believe off-season moves will help to make this a reality. My problem with this has to do with injuries. When the newly acquired space eaters and run stuffers get hurt, there won't be adequate depth to replace them with players that have comparable physiques and abilities. It will then be up to the coaching staff to change the scheme to accommodate the players that are available... Oh wait,,, This coaching staff has already demonstrated that they can't do that.
  10. Play hard or play well? Most guys will play hard. Most guys will play well. Some guys will play as hard and as well as they can as a chance to audition for next season. Watching to see whether that's enough to win is going to be interesting, but a Bills victory is doubtful imo.
  11. Why are people saying this would be a good thing? If Marrone had a decent OC (not Hackett), this would be a much better coaching staff than the Bills are currently stuck with.
  12. Who is it that you want to die? Fitz? Rex? btw, I had never heard of that performer before, but she is pretty awesome. Hot, cute and psycho. The Bills had plans to sit EJ for a while, but injuries forced him to play before he was ready. The Jets had a similar plan with Geno, but when he crashed and burned, they went out and got Fitz. When it became obvious that EJ wasn't the guy, the Bills went out and got TT. I don't think that is the part of the plan that led to the Jets being better than the Bills this year. Since the Bills have had such bad play on the defense, I would look there to see if that is how the Jets have succeeded where the Bills have failed. I would also assume that the Jets have a better O-Line than the Bills.
  13. Makes sense that they will be wearing pajamas for this game. It's probably not going to be very exciting. And some players will likely be sleepwalking through it.
  14. I like the way Karlos runs, but I'm a little concerned about him. He may have a short career because of recurring concussions. Fred is a great blocker and outlet receiver. I don't know if Karlos fills that role. McCoy may be better in those situations. I'm not bitter about releasing Fred, I think it was a logical business decision based on his salary and limited role primarily as a third down back. I wish he could still be on the Bills, and I'm glad he was picked up by another team. I hope he get to make some plays in the playoffs.
  15. I don't think that was Rex quitting. I think that was Rex having a master plan. His way or the highway. All with a smile on his face.
  16. ESPN Ticker says Pagano is gone. I didn't see that one coming.
  17. I was thinking the same thing. But this Bills team has been pretty uninspiring lately, even with most of the starting line-up intact. I expect this game to be pretty one-sided, and not in a good way for the Bills. Of course, this could be a "trap game" for the Jets, if they think it's going to be easy and they are already thinking about the playoffs. I use the term "trap game" because there were several arguments a few weeks ago about whether that is a valid term in the first place.
  18. I would be shocked if the Bills practice squad players can beat a team on the verge of the playoffs. I guess that's why they play the games.
  19. Based on what I have learned by reading many threads on TBD, I think the following will happen: Rex wants a big nose tackle, and a mike LB who is big and can take on a RB at the line of scrimmage. Whaley will get him these players through FA or draft. If this is correct, it doesn't seem like a bad idea. My biggest concern with this scheme is that it relies on a small number of players with unique physiques and capabilities, which means injuries/depth will be a major concern. If Rex craps the bed next year (I think he will), then the 2017 season will be a rebuilding year with a new staff, and 2018 will be THE year (again). My concern with Rex is not his football IQ, but the fact that he seems to run a loose, disorganized team. I get the feeling that practices are not organized or effective, just based on players who don't seem to know what to do on the field. Lack of discipline and accountability leads to players who aren't concerned (scared) about making penalties or fumbling. Poor time management, late getting plays in quickly, poor attention to detail (functioning headsets, TV monitors to assess red flag challenges, etc.), are some of the reasons why Rex will fail if he doesn't fix things. He shouldn't be spending his time as the de facto defensive coordinator. He should be spending his time doing head coach things, which may not be as hands-on as he likes, but that's the nature of the job.
  20. Can you imagine the emotional roller coaster for this guy? Saturday: I'm probably going to get a Super Bowl Ring! Sunday: I'm playing for the Buffalo BIlls?!?
  21. The Bills beat the Colts, and everyone thought that the Bills were finally the Real Deal. Then the Jets beat the Colts, and I started to wonder if the Bills victory over the Colts was really all that significant. Then the Colts struggled to beat some crappy teams, and I knew the Bills victory over the Colts was not significant. The Loss to the Giants hurt because they aren't a very good team. Then the loss in London caused me to realize these are the same old Bills of the last 15 years; much better on paper than on the field.
  22. With the jerseys, the tickets, the vehicles, the tailgate setups, etc. it is clear that a lot of people spend a lot of money to do that stuff. Who are these people?
  23. I'm torn. I don't want to see Rex end the season with a smile. I don't want to see Rex smile. I don't want to see Rex. I like Fitz and Gailey. But I want to see TT and company end the season on a positive note. I think my level of "caring" is pretty low. Either way there is a good story line. I will root for the Bills, but I will see the silver lining if things don't go their way.
  24. I don't understand the point of this thread. NO! Of Course Not! Obviously! The poor management shows up practically every week. - Bad handling of challenges - No batteries in the headsets TWICE - Poor end-of-half time management - No accountability for stupid penalties That's just a few obvious things. Why not start a thread to ask if water is wet?
