  1. I’m right there with you. This next week is going to be awful. I have relatives who are in school as students and as teachers. Most schools in upstate NY are built for winter, not summer. The students and teachers will be on the verge of fainting until this heat wave breaks on Thursday or Friday.
  2. I know a few guys who are pretty good at brewing their own beer. “Lawn mower beer” is a thing. Low alcohol, easy to drink. Why is it that so many craft beers are IPAs? I’m not a fan of them; I find them to be bitter and not pleasant. I prefer a lager. Is that one more strike against me on my man card? If I’m only drinking one or two beers, I like to change things up with porter and bock beers.
  3. This^ I also think she’s too thin, and has a good but not great face/eyes, but she has nice hair. Of course, I’d be all nervous, goofy, and flustered in her presence. On a movie star/model scale she’s not a ten. On an Upstate NY scale, 10+.
  4. He had a great preseason for the Bills a few years ago but was cut. A little bit of a surprise. He’s been a serviceable WR for a few years.
  5. California and then Las Vegas. She must be sooooo relieved with this trade.
  6. I wasn’t happy when they picked up AJ, and I’m not happy with what they got for AJ. Beane is officially on double secret probation.
  7. I’ve been on this forum for several years, and this is the first I’ve heard of this tradition. I was Graybeard (one word) for a few years before I became Gray Beard (two words). The name change was the result of Graybeard being attached to an email account that no longer worked. The easiest fix was to start all over with a new name and a new email.
  8. Fitz may set a record for being on the most teams but never getting a SB ring Even Rob Johnson got a ring (Bucs, 2002)
  9. I had a descrambler box that was great from about 1981 to 1984. The scramble technique had to do with modifying the horizontal sync signal so the video would be wavy without the descrambler. I could get all the premium channels, including the Playboy channel. They changed the scramble technique at some point, and then my box was useless.
  10. I used to. My parent’s 1964 Valiant and 1969 Ford wagon. My friend’s 1963 Impala. My 1973 Celica, and my 1980 Mazda. Now I just bring them in for scheduled maintenance. I’ve had mostly Toyota’s, and I’ve had good luck. I usually keep them for eight to ten years. I’m sure I could make them last longer, but I like getting a new car every so often.
  11. Great open field tackler. Go for the ankles. Not this silly shoulder bump stuff (Gilmore’s specialty).
  12. I hope you have a great day, today and every day!
  13. I can’t do it unless I’m drunk. I can’t do it when I’m drunk. Quite the predicament.
  14. My mom was in Florida. As you can well imagine, there are many options to choose from down there. My sister in law was a saint for all the errands she did and the care she took of my mother. When my mother passed, there was still a little inheritance left, and everyone agreed that my sister in law should get an extra little bit. My mom died of heart failure, and her brain was still in pretty good shape right up to the end. I have a friend whose mom had dementia, and she went through all the stages of care right up until she passed. That was in the Syracuse area. Impossible to care for an elderly parent with dementia while still working full time. Expensive, but an assisted living facility and then a nursing home seems like the best option if you can afford it.
  15. My mother was in an adult apartment complex (meals provided, but little personalized medical attention) then in assisted living (meals and medical attention) when she was in her 90s. There are different levels of care depending on need. Expensive, but it worked out well. She didn’t want to burden any of her kids by moving in, and the apartments where she was living were only a few blocks away from relatives.
  16. Edith, Wheezy, or Maude? All were originally from All in the Family
  17. Florida was more soft spoken and not as much of a nag as Wheezy, so I’ll go with Florida. Helen or Thelma Lou?
  18. Two questions were intermingled... One question was Betty or Wilma from the Flintstones. (Betty for me) The other question was Billie Jo, Betty Jo, or Bobbie Jo from Petticoat Junction. (Bobbie Jo for me) The name Betty is in both questions (sort of), thus the confusion.
  19. Another question, in two parts... 1. Which of the three original Charlie’s Angels? (Jaclyn Smith for me) 2. Now which if you include all the replacement Angels? (Cheryl Ladd for me)
  20. Bailey. All day. No doubts. Billie Jo, BettyJo, or Bobbie Jo?
  21. I wish my basement would flood a little. It is full of crap that never should have put there in the first place. And almost none of it is mine.
  22. A lot of feet and nose comments. As the saying goes... If your nose runs and your feet smell, you’re built upside down.
  23. Mary Ann can probably make a better sammich. Ginger would be a better trophy. Mary Ann is a wholesome farm girl. Ginger is an actress in the heyday of the casting couch. I’ve always thought of myself as a Mary Ann guy, but I’m starting to wonder... I mean, I can make a pretty good sammich.
  24. Older men are financially secure (I.e., rich) compared to younger men. An older man will enjoy having a younger woman around. How many any of these “older man and younger woman” situations consist of unattractive and broke guys, or unattractive women? There’s also that whole “daddy issues” narrative.
