Offensive Line: Who Stays Who Goes
Dkollidas replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m hoping for the most part that you’re right. I could see them going after a bigger name tackle though. With Darryl Williams being hurt most (or all?) OG this season, he might not get big offers from most teams, whereas Beane & McDermott know his history from being in Carolina. I definitely think Morse or Paradis end up here. Paradis: Denver seems to be in that “middle ground”... too good to tear down, not good enough to be a contender. Morse: Kansas City has been paying some big time players and has more to pay in Dee Ford and others in the next couple with Mahomes & Tyreek Hill soon enough. Ramon Foster & Saffold are the top two guards I’ve seen out there. I wonder if Foster is fed up with the antics in Pittsburgh and maybe is looking for an organization with a better room to be in as Pittsburgh obviously has their fair share of issues. Regarding the draft, I see Buffalo trading down. There’s high end Pass rusher talent all over the draft, I think Williams and Little could get taken before Buffalo Picks. I could see Haskins, Little, Williams and 5 Defensive players going in the top-8, leaving us with maybe the 6th best defensive player, or a chance to move down as quarterbacks always get taken too early, and Cincinnati, Miami & Washington are all teams that could need QB’s right behind the Broncos who could also need a QB ( and whom we pick directly in front of). Trading down and garnering extra picks, I could see us drafting 2 linemen in the first 3 rounds, and then if we have two other picks in the first three rounds, using those in skill position players. I would also see them grabbing guys that are versatile in where they can play on the line. All of the Wisconsin guys interest me a great deal. The team didn’t play as well as many expected but they have four guys that could go in the first three rounds and they’re almost all pretty versatile and have lined up at guard & tackle (Dieter has played every position I believe, and I think McDermott appreciates that type of versatility). if we could get three free agent linemen (starting tackle, starting center, guard for competition to start) and supplement that with two young linemen that can line up at guard and tackle, I’d be thrilled. LT- Dawkins & 3rd Round Pick LG- 2nd Round Pick & UFA depth C- UFA & Bodine RG- Teller & UFA compete RT- UFA & McDermott -
Offensive Line: Who Stays Who Goes

Agreed. I think they go hard after a guy like Paradis at center, or even Morse from KC if he becomes available. Guard will see guys like Saffold or Foster. Veterans who can provide stability I would think. I think Teller gets some solid competition but gets a chance to win one of the guard spots. I have a feeling Mills gets a bigger pay-day somewhere else. He’s been decently rated analytically over the last couple of seasons, but I don’t think he moves the needle st all in pass protection. He’s a run blocker all day. Very limited and I think the GM & Coach both prefer Versatility and Flexibility among a position like that. -
Position-wise where do they find new starters? based off the end of this year those players would be LT- Dawkins LG- Miller C-Bodine RG- Teller RT- Mills Dont know why, but I think they’ll try to get Mills to re-sign. Looking around the league, he is an average RT, although he’s much better in the run than he is against the pass. But overall all I expect the emphasis to be much more on the inside of the offensive line. I see Miller and Bodine for sure being replaced, and the possibility of competition for Teller is strong as well. im not saying they won’t try to improve the RT situation as well, I just think it will be someone who competes with Mills and doesn’t outright replace him.

Final Tremaine Edmunds numbers, shoutout from Bills PR
Dkollidas replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is there any chance they could use him more in the Lorenzo Alexander role if they get another LB who can start in coverage. Basically more as a puss rusher? The league is all about getting to the QB and he has shown that ability when given the opportunity. His size/speed combo reminds me of Mack and guys of that ilk. -
I would love to see them trade a 2020 Pick for a guy like AJ Green or Julio Jones, I’m just not sure how realistic that is. I would think they want someone to grow with Allen though. They’ve got a lot of youth on this roster (corners are all young, LB’s are young minus Lorenzo, D-Line is a mix, but all the important guys on offense, Allen Foster, Dawkins, Croom, Teller are all very young guys). I think we’ll see them add one or two via free agency/trade, and then another one or two in the draft. There’s a lot of size in this draft and they seem to like the bigger receivers.
-
I think it’s a possibility... if we trade down. Which IMO is likely due to 1) the number of needs on offense 2) the lack of elite offensive talent at the top of the draft 3) teams behind us that may reach up for a quarterback (Giants, Bucs, Jags) 4) Beane seems to like to move around the board, and has made it clear that he knows the offense needs to be upgraded. The offensive talent isn’t st the top. It’s drafting smart in the middle. He’ll add picks in order to take more shots.

A successful run game would do wonders for Allen
Dkollidas replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s still fun to watch him run though. He’s friggen awesome. -
I understand he has a bad supporting cast. But all the things he’s shown to be (indecisive, inaccurate, missing open receivers, especially in the flat, moving back in the pocket instead of moving up), have been issues he’s had his entire collegiate career as well. I want Allen to be good as much as anyone, but if there’s no improvement, with the amazing defense we have, the cap space we have, and the draft picks we have, shouldn’t we look into a better backup option than we did this season???
-
I’m not saying it has to be a top-10 Pick, but if Allen misses major time and doesn’t show anything when he comes back, I think we need to either... 1) trade down, gather picks for 2020 and try again for a QB 2) draft a guy anywhere in rounds 2-4. Stidham, Jackson from UB are just s couple of the multitude of possibilities. Yes no or maybe?
-
I don’t think it happens. And honestly I think Shady is still here next year. I would love to get more picks, but I think Beane would want at least the 2nd rounder. I’d take a 3rd myself. But I don’t think Philly will offer the 2nd, and Buffalo will want more than just a 3rd. Clement will be their guy for this season and maybe they’ll pick up someone off the street as well for support.

Get Noah Fant if he’s there or Smith from Stanford. Give Allen a big target over the middle.

It just really accentuates how much work needs to be done on offense to build around allen. Which sucks because now I don’t even feel like I can judge him accurately. Our receivers can’t catch his passes, he can’t throw from a balanced platform because of bad offensive line play, and his running game can’t do anything with said offensive line. They need AT LEAST, 3 new receivers, 3 new starting linemen a running back and a starting tight end for next season. thats 8 starters. You’re basically keeping Allen, Dawkins, and maybe some holdover on the line or letting Teller battle Ducasse or Miller for one spot. Ok so actually 9. Sign two receivers, two linemen then trade down and grab a tight end, 2 offensive linemen, and a receiver with your first 4 picks. And with your next pick, take a running back. But god we need offense
-
I like him and Anthony Johnson. I just worry that Johnson will struggle as the competition level gets tougher. Like Harry as well, but his speed is concerning when you consider our current group.
-
With Allen hopefully continuing to grown and become our franchise QB, I think WR is definitely the biggest need (I would argue we have the biggest spot on the OL locked down with Dawkins). with that in mind, I figured to start a thread lookin g specifically at the top WR’a that are eligible to enter the 2019 draft. I know now it’s not a very lauded class, but there seem to be A LOT of guys that aren’t top-10 talents, but have about 2nd round grades. Just a few I can rattle off the top of my head are... AJ Brown-Ole Miss N’Keal Harry- Ari. St. DK Metcalf- Ole Miss Anthony Johnson- UB Who does everyone like? Who dont you like? Who fits what we want to do with Allen? I just have a feeling that they’ll look to get Allen targets in the draft. Tight end can be looked at separately, but I see WR as one of the teams main targets in the draft this season.
-
I think he’s fit very well with a guy like Allen. Not a burner, but he’s got enough speed, and he’s not just tall but he has great leaping ability. I think he could be the Best receiver of this class. I’d love to grab him with our first if it’s in the 8-15 range

Spring League Success
Dkollidas replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think XFL will putter out quickly. I’m hoping the Alliance league will stick more to the script and hopefully what NFL Europe wanted to be. A place where undrafted and late round guys can be given a chance to develop and earn a bit of cash. Similar too, but far different than the AHL for the NHL. -
2nd Update: Early 2019 mock draft
Dkollidas replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in College Football
I’d love to go after a guy like N’Keal Harry in the first, and Noah Fant as well. Gotta get Allen some weapons. We can sign some linemen in free agency, and draft some other guys later as well. We’re also waiting to see what we get out of Teller. -
Steelers listening to trade offers for Leveon Bell
Dkollidas replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shady and a 2020 3rd. That would be beautiful. Maybe he doesn’t fit “process” but it seems like a lot of this has been boiling in Pittsburgh for a while. And while I don’t usually side with players in contract holdouts, Bell has earned a contract extension. And the problem is they should’ve done a 4 or 5 year deal 2 or 3 years ago. Now they’re less inclined to do so because he’s only gotten older. It’s not the worst thing for the Steelers because they’ve been able to keep him for his prime years. But at the same time, he’s one of the top 5-10 offensive non-qb weapons in the league. This is a guy I would make a play for. -
1. Start Allen: It’s clear they should’ve either kept McCarron or had a more veteran QB behind Allen (Matt Moore is an example). But this isn’t really a possibility. Sure they could bring in a 3rd guy. A veteran to stand behind Allen. But they won’t be able to learn the offense and play. So let him play and take his lumps. 2. Sign one or two Offensive Linemen: Jahri Evans & Alex Boone are still out there. Veterans who might be past their primes, but I’d cut guys like Miller or Ducasse or Newhouse to do it. Give them a week or so to adjust to the scheme and go from there. 3. Ray-ray: If he’s healthy give him some time on the field. He seemed to show solid hands and good chemistry with Allen in pre-season. I know he’s not a burner, but he’s probably the closest thing we’ve got. 4. Murphy: start mixing him into the playbook more. Sets with him and Shady on the field together. He’s shown some ability and it needs to be used. 5. Vontae: just play him. He shouldn’t be healthy scratched. They play 4 corners he should be one of them. He’s been a player in this league for a long time and that means something.

Is a "Bad" Year Really All That Bad for the Bills?
Dkollidas replied to Midwest1981's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the line still struggles, the receivers aren’t of quality either. That and a tough schedule will limit their wins. -
I like the kid. He looked good in limited time against the Dolphins in an important game last year. He continued with a good pre-season. I think he’s an option. He’ll get some work, and I think as he proves himself he’ll get more and more work. He might not turn into a starter, but maybe he can be a guy who can give shady a break and every now and then and provide a nice element to the roster. Shady is #1. He’s a star. But running backs come out of nowhere all the time. I could totally see Murphy turning into a solid starter. It would be one more spot covered in the depth chart.

Is a "Bad" Year Really All That Bad for the Bills?
Dkollidas replied to Midwest1981's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is exactly right. I don’t think they’ll be terrible (I’m thinking they’ll finish with 5-7 wins) and that’s fine. I’m looking for a few things... 1. Peterman (long shot), or Allen to play and show evidence of franchise or at least strong starter capability. 2. Defense to continue to improve. They invested money here and it should show up a bit. Between Lotulelei & Edmunds the run defense should be stronger. 3. A hope for me is that one of they younger TE’s (hopefully Croom), turn into an offensive weapon. Danilo was in NE for a long time and that offense uses a lot of multiple TE sets. Seeing one of those guys become a weapon, allowing Clay to be used In different ways (H-Back, etc), could really give the offense a different look considering how weak they are at WR. -With the money they’ll have at their disposal next year, and a pick in the 5-12 range, they could add a couple solid OL starters, and a WR and still have some nice cap room to work with. Which I think is their plan. This off-season they will get players that will fit the offense they want build around Allen.
