Deiter, OL from Wisconsin. He’ll get drafted in the 2nd or 3rd Round and end up as one of the top couple offensive linemen in this draft. He’s started over 10 games each at center guard and tackle...

Hypothetical : Trade down in 1st with Raiders?
Dkollidas replied to bigfootindy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d be happy with any of Fant, Hockenson or Irv Smith if they take one in rounds 1 or 2. Then grab a receiver. Any of Harry, Butler, Marquise Brown, Metcalf, etc. I also think they look more for interior help than exterior. Between Trent Brown, Smith from Tampa, and Daryl Williams from Carolina, I think there’s more free agent help available at tackle. Not elite, but serviceable. They get their higher end RT in free agency, sign a decent level interior lineman, and then draft another interior lineman early. Defenses are trying to get more of a pass rush from the interior, and therefore The interior linemen are almost becoming just as valuable as the tackles. -

Exactly. I’d look to go WR TE OL with the first 3 picks. In any order depending on the teams preference. -

I think trading down with a team like Washington is more realistic. With Alex Smith’s issues Recovering from surgery, they need to draft a guy of the future. Denver at #10 does as well. There could be teams looking at a guy like Drew Lock, Daniel Jones, or even Haskins if he slips, when we pick at #9 overall. A move like that could maybe get us a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th and allow us to really build up the roster. -
OT Jonah Williams in the first
Dkollidas replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Despite what some analysts say, I don’t think he’ll even be there at 9. This draft lacks elite offensive talent. Receiver and tight end are very very deep, but no Julio Jones or AJ Green. Quarterback will be overdrafted because that’s always what happens, Haskins might be the only true value 1st Round QB in the draft. But Williams is really the highest consensus graded offensive player. And the draft won’t go all defense in the first 8 picks, Williams will go in there somewhere. -
Good stuff

I think the combine will start to separate a lot of these guys. I know it only takes one team to like a guy and take them, but this class is tough to gauge. Every WR in this class has big questions. I almost wonder if it might be a better idea to just draft Fant at #9 as he’s arguably the best offensive weapon in the draft. Brees has Jimmy Graham, Rivers had Gates, Brady has Gronk, Mahomes has Kelce. I think a game breaking tight end who can get mismatches could be our best bet to get Allen’s full potential. Fast enough to get separation from LB’s & Safety’s, big and athletic enough to have a large enough radius against corners. I’m talking myself into it more and more as I type. Also, I think Daboll has a thing for tight ends and that this offense will really be a lot more interesting with a good group of three tight ends (one free agent, one drafted & Croom). WR is also still a major need obviously. But Foster and McKenzie have shown something. I think they could get a guy like Lodge later on, and if they want that deep-threat type option, they could go after Marquise Brown. It’ll be an interestinf off-season though, that’s for sure.
-
Agreed. Personally I like a lot of the guys in this class. It’s not super elite, but it’s really deep. TE as well. That’s why I think they should pursue OL mostly in free agency if possible. Use the draft for those wideouts and tight ends who can grow with Allen. I also wonder what kind of guys they’re looking for. I would assume they want to find another big lanky guy to be what Benjamin couldn’t (or wouldn’t because he’s too damn lazy). Harry is personally my favorite, but someone pointed out he makes quite a few body catches, and that makes me worry if he’s taking in darts from an arm as strong as Allen’s. Metcalf is a really really interesting guy, but he ran limited routes at Ole Miss, and the neck injury is a huge concern to me.
-
Yea but I don’t think any top tier receivers are going to be at the shrine game. Metcalf, A.J Brown, Harry, M. Brown, Harmon, Butler etc
-
They should be meeting with every receiver they can. That being said I do wonder if he’s a hidden talent having played behind Brown & Metcalf.

Sounds like Dolphins are headed for full rebuild in 2019

I wonder if they’ll give him a 5th year option. If not he becomes a UFA, correct? -
I just don’t want him. I don’t want a guy like that conplaining to the media about allen in any way shape or form. At least with a drafted guy, or a guy they’d sign like Humphries or Conley or whoever, if a game goes bad, they’ll just blame themselves and the team as a whole. I could totally see AB just calling out individuals, the coaches, stuff like that. Just doesn’t seem to fit what they want here. I don’t want it either. Also, he’s how old? 30??? No thank you.

Should Bills go after FA TE Demetrius Harris
Dkollidas replied to CEN-CAL17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I expect one TE Via UFA, and one Via the draft. In UFA I’d go after Kroft, James or Uzomah. In the draft there’s a lot to like. Fant is the #1 right now, but there’s time for that to change. Then you’ve got Irv Smith Jr., Hockenson, Kaden Smith, Okwuegbunam from Missouri, and others, but right there you’ve got 5 guys that I would REALLY like to add to this team. Keep Croom as your #3, and you’ve got the type of tight end group Daboll can start to work with. He had great tight ends in New England, and I think they’d allow us to be more diverse in our charming offensively -
I hear you. But if they feel the #1 WR is close to the #5 DL, I’d take the #1 WR. He’s your top rated guy of the entire class, you have your choice of everyone at the position. Get a hit on it. And I think this example is very realistic in regards to this year’s draft because right now there’s so many intriguing receivers, but no clear cut ranking. Metcalf, Harry, M. Brown, AJ Brown, Harmon, Ridley. There’s a lot of talent, and while it might not be as highly praised as the D-Linemen, I’d rather take my shot at the guy that I like the most that would be a fit with my QB, rather than a DL that might have the best numbers and measurable s but might not be a fit for my staff, or my scheme, or my locker room.

I believe that Buffalo will trade down in order to gain more picks. By Pick number 9 it is likely that... DE- J. Bosa DT- Q. Williams ED- J. Allen DT- E. Oliver OT- J. Williams OT- G. Little QB- Dwayne Haskins will all be gone. As well as one of Clelin Ferrell, Greedy Williams, Devin White And Rahsan Gary. i just don’t think they’ll want to use #9 to select the 5th best defensive lineman in this class. I would think they’d believe that the guy they select at #9 will be closer in value to the guys selected at the end of Round 1 or start of Round 2, than to the players selected ahead of them. I think they’ll try to go BPA to an extent, they’ll go for need if the players are close, but if they’re able to find someone looking for that 2nd or 3rd QB at #9, I easily see them moving down 7-12 spots and selecting a player there while gaining more picks to fill out the roster.

I like him a lot, but a neck fracture is a scary injury. That HAS to clear out. And even if it does, I still might shy away just because of it. personally though I like Harry the best. I think his ability to high point the ball is elite, and we love to throw deep, it’s a match made in heaven
-
Yes but according to the draft trade chart for the trade from 12 to 7 to get Allen, we gave up enough value to move from 12 to 1. Trade charts are useful tools. Teams go beyond the draft chart in almost every trade up for a QB

Totally forgot about Lorenzo!

I think you have to look at it from a different perspective. 1) before this season, Shady was extremely productive. He was arguably the best player on the team in 2017. 2) He’s a captain and this team is huge on the “chemistry”, “leadership”, and “character”. For them Shady is a representative of all of that despite the off-field issues he’s had this past year.
-
Who would you rather go after at WR? I think any ideas of Beckham, Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, or AJ Green are low percentage possibilities. A UFA like Williams from San Diego isn’t more than a solid #2. Humphries is a solid #2 from the slot, he had 76 catches for over 800yds. Zay and Foster showed improvement in the last quarter of the year when Allen returned. N’Keal Harry might not be a #1 right away, but he has that ability. If you prefer DK Metcalf that’s fine, I just think it totally depends on how his medicals come back from his neck injury. That’s scary stuff. I’d rather go with Harry, but that’s me and I think he has #1 upside. Conley has shown ability but is overshadowed by Hill, Watkins, & Kelce on the Chiefs. Also, I understand what you’re saying about Shady, but good backs are selected late or undrafted quite often. Williams and Scott are guys that could come in and challenge for carries right away, maybe one of them turns into something. I put him there because the organization has basically stated for the record that he’s coming back. They said the same about Tyrol last year before trading him; but they also talked all the time about a QB who could stand in the pocket and make throws. I think they plan on McCoy being back. That’s why I put him there. I also don’t see them keeping McCoy and spending money on a guy like Tevin Coleman or TJ Yeldon. They need to go young.

The first is more of a, it’s Dan Snyder's team, of course they’ll give up WAY too much. But really, teams overpay to move up for QB’s all the time. But I’d be pretty happy with just the 2019 picks. Also, we gave up 2nd rounders to move up 5 spots. We moved from 12 to 7. I think Beane could argue he’d want more to move from 9 to 16. It’s not necessarily how many spots you’re moving up, but what that team is moving up for, and who is between those two teams. Denver Cincinnati and Miami could all go QB. The cost to move up for a QB is never cheap.

Unsigned: Miller Mills Cut: Ducasse Clay Free Agency: RT- Darryl Williams- Car. ($9M cap hit) OC- Mitch Morse- K.C. ($8M cap hit) OG- AJ Cann- Jax ($3M cap hit) WR- Adam Humphries- T.B. ($8M cap hit) WR- Chris Conley- K.C. ($5M cap hit) TE-Tyler Kroft-Cin ($5M cap hit) DE- Vinny Curry- TB ($3M cap hit) ~Approximately $41M spent on these players. Granted though, NFL contracts are complicated & I’m bad at this, but I gave it my best shot. Draft: (Jonah Williams & Gregg Little both gone by Pick #9) *TRADE* To Washington: 1st Round- 9th overall To Buffalo: 1st Round- 16th overall 2019 2nd Round 2019 3rd Round *edited* (Washington is desperate for a QB with Alex Smith having a tough time post surgery. Guys like Bridgewater & Foles will have better opportunities. Washington decides to move up and select their guy after Haskins goes to the Giants, but so they can have their choice between Lock & Jones before Denver(10th), Cincinnati(11th) & Miami (13th). *-Designates picks gained from Trade with Washington. 1- N’Keal Harry-WR-Ari St. -I think he’s the perfect combo for Allen. He’s got a great catch radius, can really get to the high point, does a great job of getting YAC, and while he doesn’t have great speed, he’s able to get separation by having a very solid release from coverage near the line of scrimmage. 2- Michael Dieter-OL-Wisconsin -This guy has Bill written all over him IMO. Similarly to Harrison Phillips, he’s smart, a senior, and high character guy. He’s also extremely versatile, having started multiple games at each position on the line at a great school for linemen. And not just T, G, or C, but he’s started at LT, LG, C, RG, RT. He can literally plug and play anywhere the team needs him. 2*- Irv Smith-TE-Alabama -Croom flashed, but Daboll wants depth at the right end position. Croom, combined with signing Kroft, and drafting Smith, who Daboll knows from his time at Alabama, is a guy who can stretch the field the field down the seam, and can be a do-it-all guy as opposed to a one trick pony. 3- Beau Benzschawel-OL-Wisconsin- Again another Wisconsin guy. I’m a fan. Maybe they play next to each other, and having done that in college gives them some chemistry bonus. But he’s another that has started at both guard and tackle for the Badgers. 3*- Austin Bryant-DL- Clemson- The least heralded guy on the Tiger defensive line, he’ll slip because people will credit his production to being a part of that unit. He’ll be a solid NFL player with the possibility of becoming a mid-round hit. 4-Paris Campbell-WR-Ohio St. -His speed will help the offense and special teams overall. This also gives us a lot of depth at WR with Harry, Humphries, Conley, Foster, & McKenzie along with this young man. 4- RB- LJ Scott-RB-Michigan St.- Big guy to eventually do what Ivory did for them this year. Daboll seems to like a thunder/lightning approach like they’ve often used at Alabama. 5- Khalil Hodge-LB- Buffalo- Maybe I’m way off that he slips this far, but we’re a small school and guys like him often do if they don’t really impress during the combine. I think our scouts have seen him enough to know he’ll be a solid NFL player. Tackling machine, can allow Milano to play his coverage game, and give the coaches more ability to rush Edmunds in passing situations. 5- Trayveon Williams-RB-Texas A&M- they might keep Shady this year, but I think they’ll make the necessary moves to see him leave at the end of next season. 6- Mark Fields-CB-Clemson- Add more young depth. Tre is a shutdown #1, Wallace & T. Johnson have shown well, and Ryan Lewis might be solid depth as well. Just add to the DB bank. Seems like you can never have enough of them anyways. *Just going by position now, not specific names* 7- TE 7- DT Depth Chart: QB: Allen, Barkley, Anderson RB: McCoy, Ivory, Williams, Scott FB: DiMarco WR: Jones Foster Humphries Harry Conley McKenzie Campbell McCloud TE: Kroft Smith Croom Thomas LT: Dawkins Boettinger LG: Deiter Benzchawel OC: Morse Bodine RG: Teller Cann RT: Williams McDermott Sirles LE: Murphy Lawson Bryant RE: Hughes Curry Yarbrough DT: Lotulelei H. N’Keal Harry. All I see him do is time deep balls perfectly. He’s so aggressive at the catch point it’s ridiculous. I could see him being the perfect weapon for Allen. Could see us trading down from 9, or maybe he slips to round 2. I know it’s not getting big accolades, but I really like this year’s receiving class. Lotta big lanky guys, and a lot of shifty slot types as well.
