Hearing Broncos will let Matt Paradis test FA
Dkollidas replied to Patriot Killa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Long can play guard. Also he’s signed for 3 years, but the team has out clauses after the first and second season. So he’s an addition, and possibly a starter, but it doesn’t prevent them from doing anything. It just allows them to go after anyone on the interior and doesn’t lock them into needing specifically a guard or center. -
What do you want to see this offseason: TRADES
Dkollidas replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love to trade down in the draft. I think the free agent money will go towards immediately protecting Allen. Similar to what the Rams did for Goff. The receivers and tight ends aren’t elite enough to draft at 9. Trade down to 15 with Washington and get an extra 2nd, or trade down with Oakland and get their two late 1st’s. Imagine getting Harry or Metcalf AND Hockenson or Fant in the 1st Round and having a 2nd to grab another lineman like Risner, Deiter, or Jenkins. All could play center guard or even right tackle. -
Ravens trading Joe Flacco to Broncos

So does this mean Denver is out of the 1st Round QB debate? -

What do you want to see this offseason: Free Agency

Mitch Morse Daryl Williams D-Line Depth (Vinny Curry?) Slot WR (Cobb or Brown?) Re-Sign Jordan Phillips this would A) Solidify the offensive line B) Add another guy into the d-line rotation C) add a veteran to the WR group D) Allow is to go BPA at #9 or trade down (I think they’ll be in a prime spot to trade down with Washington or Oakland) -

Oh you mean the guy who’s had as many 1000yd seasons as Williams, just not as recently? And has chronic injury issues, unlike Williams? Names are nice but I think I’d rather spend my cap space on the 6’4” guy who has good wheels and can stay on the field. -
If he can pass the physical and is healthy? Easily put him on this roster. Him at one tackle spot, and Dawkins somewhere solves two spots. Give Teller a shot at one guard spot with a lower end free agent or draft pick to challenge him (I did like him in his starting time though). If we can sign a center as well that really frees them up to take bpa in the draft.

It’s interesting. Even if it gives the nfl some things to think about and gives us some halfway decent football to watch after the NFL season ends

Would you trade a high 2020 draft choice for AB?

Nope -
Good. Build it up sir

Maybe not in our minds, but maybe in his mind? I’m 33, and the greatest athlete I ever saw was Jordan. The 6rings in 8 yrs (2yrs retired of course) was among the greatest achievements in sports. Brady May want 7 just to say he’s better. Let’s also not forget that Jordan and Brady have done what they have done in bigger leagues with the talent more spread throughout the league.

Honestly I think the draft is better at the interior offensive line. A lot of these guys might not pan out at tackle. Spend your money on 3-4yr contracts on big money tackles while we have the space. Draft guys that are positionslly mobile (Risner, Deiter, etc) if they are able to move to tackle they will take the money of the free agent they sign this off-season when their contract is up and you can draft more offensive linemen.

Is Rob Gronkowski a first ballot Hall of Famer?
Dkollidas replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes -
I think a few of these guys end up inside. Try to get the offensive line covered in free agency. That would be one starting tackle, one starting guard, once starting center. They won’t all be Paradis & Daryl Williams, but competent level players. And then with one of the top 2 picks draft a guy who’s position flexible, like Deiter, Risner Jonah Williams, etc.

Two years ago, we saw a big trade down, then a couple smaller trades up. Down in the Tre White deal, and slightly up for Zay Jones & Dion Dawkins. The big trade was down, and the guys they drafted were all seniors. This was definitely a McDermott lead draft. Beane wasn’t here yet, Whaley wasn’t trusted, and some picks seemed to show McDermott listening to his new staff (picking Jones in the 2nd with a WR coach who coached Jones in the NCAA). Then we move to 2018. Beane is hired after the 2017 draft. We see s big change. Part of that was the need for a quarterback. Trading up for Allen was a calculated move by Beane for almost an entire year. Then they traded up again to take one of the youngest players in the league in Tre Edmunds. This along with picking Allen shows that management is more confident in the coaching (and I believe that the coaches trust themselves), to team the game. Allen and Edmunds are immense physical talents while being quite raw. But then there’s the Harrison Phillips pick. He’s exactly like the guys they drafted year one. My prediction? 1st Pick they go for the toolsy guy. Similar to Edmunds and Allen. They want to go with the home run option. I could see guys like Polite/Metcalf/Sweat being options here. Big upside guys. As the draft goes on, maybe even by the 2nd Round, they’ll go with more of the Harrison Phillips/Dion Dawkins types. Proven players, usually seniors. guys I could see here are the Michael Deiter’s & Dalton Risner’s of the draft. Just my early thoughts looking at this years draft.

If Metcalf gets a clean bill of health, does he automatically shoot up the boards? ive been a Harry fan, but Metcalf, if healthy, has some really big upside. And that’s what this team seems to be going after now that they’ve got their own GM (Beane), and ditched the Inherited GM (Whaley)
-
Metcalf definitely has the upside. His size/speed combo is pretty impressive. He’s not an AJ Green/ Julio Jones prospect, and likely won’t be that type of NFL player. If he had played the entire season the way he was early on, he might be closer to that level of prospect though. Combine will be huge for him. A I like a lot about him are his bloodlines. Father, uncle, and grandfather all played in the NFL. That’s impressive. Him being around the pro football game gives him an edge over many others in my opinion.

Alex Smith Likely to miss all of 2019

That’s probably because Haskins wasn’t in the Senior Bowl. -

Looks like redskins need a quarterback... pick #9 should have a guy... either Lock or Jones should be there. I really only see Haskins going top-7. -
Right Tackle market shaping up
Dkollidas replied to CaptnCoke11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Left Tackle: Let Dawkins compete for it, but bring competition. He has the athletic ability and I believe he knows now what he needs to do to get better. But someone to challenge him would be a good thing. FA Targets: Greg Robinson, Cedric Ogbuehi, Jared Veldheer, LaAdrian Waddle Draft Targets: Jawaan Taylor, Kaleb McGary Left Guard: Go after a free agent, Glowinski would be #1 target because of his age and his familiarity with our new OL coach. I’d almost prefer a veteran here. I think part of Dawkins issues stemmed from trying to do too much with the two guys he played next to (Incognito and Wood) being out of the lineup. FA Targets: Mark Glowinski, Rodger Saffold, Ramon Foster, DJ Fluker Draft Targets: Chris Lindstrom, Michael Deiter, Dru Samia. Center: This is a position I personally am willing to invest a lot into. Get Paradis or Morse. If not go after a highly rated prospect in round two or three. FA Targets: Matt Paradis, Mitch Morse, Nick Easton Draft Targets: Dalton Risner, Elgton Jenkins, Michael Deiter. Right Guard: Teller will fill one of the spots, but he shouldn’t be guaranteed a starting spot. Either draft or sign someone to challenge him as well. FA Targets: Mark Glowinski, Rodger Saffold, Ramon Foster, DJ Fluker Draft Targets: Chris Lindstrom, Michael Deiter, Dru Samia. Right Tackle: Go Big for a Free Agent. We have the cap space and need a couple vets on the line. A guy like Daryl Williams or Trent Brown would go a long way in helping solve our line issues. This could also be a player that ends up at left tackle and pushes Dawkins to this right side. FA Targets: Daryl Williams, Trent Brown, Donovan Smith, JaWuan James. Draft Targets: Dalton Risner, Cody Ford, Jonah Williams, Greg Little, Andre Dillard. One guy I really really want them to pick is Michael Deiter. OL from Wisconsin. He’s a senior, and he’s started over 50 games he’s played (every game in college he’s played, he’s started). He’s started 14 at Tackle, 16 at center and 21 at guard. This guy is just a player. He’s scheme and position diverse which is needed on an NFL roster where teams don’t carry 10 OL any more and typically only carry 8 at the most. I feel at worst hes a player who would be our #1 backup. At best he could be our long term answer at center... or guard... or even tackle. -
Which is a better investment? Offense or Defense?
Dkollidas replied to iinii's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
21st century. Offense. Build around your QB’s strengths. -
I think finding a starting center will be their #1 off-season goal and it will be the one position they severely overpay to get one of Morse or Paradis. I have my money on Paradis. He’s much more likely to leave Denver than Morse is KC. Denver is about to go out and try to find a young QB build around, (unless they try to get on the Foles train).

1 Only giving the money to a franchise guy. 5yrs is enough to prove whether he’s your guy or not. And I’d even say 4 years. Give the 5th year option and trade him if it’s not working, but that money, if given, only goes to a guy who’s top-10 in the league. 2. Trade down down down. In the draft, look tot trade down and gain more picks, not every time, but I would say trade down twice for every time you trade up. 3. Pass rushers on defense. That’s the biggest part of your defense. And elite pass rush makes everything a lot easier for the rest of the defense, pressure helps cause mistakes, and if you pay that money to your QB, he needs to be the kind of guy that can take advantage of those turnovers
