Cardinals tweet their support of Right Josh
Dkollidas replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cardinals just seem a bit dysfunctional. Why as the GM with a 2nd year QB who you traded up for in the 1st Round of the 2018 draft, would you say he’s your quarterback “for now”? I wonder if it’s mostly just a smoke screen in order to get someone to try to trade up to #1? If that’s not it, I just don’t think they know what they’re doing. -

Perfect veteran for the locker room. -

Bet he goes to New England. He’d be a really nice fit there. -
The thing I like about Allen that we saw this year, is that no matter what, he’ll just tell the media things like “he was trying to make a play, I need to be better”. yes it’s cliche, and it doesn’t give the fans real insight into the situations sometimes. But he would rather take the heat than throw any of his receivers under the proverbial bus, or cause them to have to answer questions like, “Josh said you were supposed to do ‘A’ and you did ‘B’, what happened?”

Wow... that’s really really bad.

If they got Murray, I would think Tyrod would be a solid placeholder for him. I know he wasn’t great in Cleveland, but neither was Baker before they fired Hue Jackson. He was a terrible coach. -
Texans franchise tag star pass-rusher Clowney

I believe they were able to tag him as a linebacker as opposed to defensive end as well, which saves them cap space. Smart move by Houston -
How can we not be all in on Metcalf now?
Dkollidas replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His injury history concerns me. And I’m sure it concerns the Bills. McDermott always says “the best ability is availability”. Hence why we don’t miss Sammy. He doesn’t play enough to be missed. Yes he’d be our best WR by a mile, but he doesn’t play enough to make a large enough impact. -
Carolina WR Devin Funchess unlikely to be extended

Cheap deal, I’d take it. He’s a depth guy. I’d like to see them trade a 5th or 6th for Ross from Cincinnati. Speed kills and he could be an answer in the slot. -
What do you want to see this offseason: Free Agency

I think the way Beane has been speaking, the emphasis will be placed on finding Allen protection up front, particularly up front. Paradis, Morse, Saffold, Daryl Williams, will all he sought after. I think we see them willing to spend some more money than normal on Paradis/Morse as well. Getting one of these two makes Allen’s life considerably more easy in that they will be able to make the line calls before the play and change blocking assignments. After that I think they will put money into any available pass rushers they bring in, particularly on the interior. They will then use the draft on offensive line depth, receiver, tight end, and running back, in no particular order. -
I would like it. He could be Allen’s Greg Olsen. I wonder if they wouldn’t go after the more athletic Fant, but I think they’d prefer a guy like Hockenson. Could see them trying to move down in order to add some picks in order to do so as well.

Yup. Once in a while I’ll turn on WGR but 9 times out of 10 I’m listening to podcasts. Just google “player fm football podcasts” and you’ll get a link to a bunch of half decent podcasts. I also like the fact that on the podcasts guys can curse a little bit more and be more straightforward with their opinions for the most part. -
I’m not doing it because I necessarily want these players. I’m trying to gain further knowledge on who to expect the Bills to draft.

Agreed.

Just going off what we’ve seen with this management and coaching staff put together in terms of the “character” players, etc. just wondering if anyone has noticed guys that seem to be “McBeane” character guys. Last year I saw Harrison Phillips as such an obvious one for us. And sure enough it ended up happening ( I thought Phillips was going to go round 2, but they did well and got him in the 3rd). my guys so far this year... OL- Dalton Risner- Kansas St. - Was at the senior bowl. Check. Played tackle guard and center, so versatile. Check. Buddies with Harrison Phillips and spoke about how he’d be happy if he was selected by the Bills (I don’t have a link but read the quote somewhere when they interviewed him at the senior bowl). Check. Blue collar type of guy with no off-field red flags... check check check. I see Buffalo looking for Risner in the 2nd Round, moving up if they feel necessary. DT- Christian Wilkins- Clemson - Also a Senior. Check. Said to have a non-stop motor. Check. Leadership? Unquestioned. Check. John Ledyard from The Draft Network on Wilkins: ”Toughness, leadership and effort can’t be questioned. Hard-working on and off the field and described as a rare personality and leader at the college level” If Buffalo has to stay at 9, I could see him being an option. I could also see him being an option if they manage to get two offensive linemen and sign a Tyrell Williams or Golden Tate. Or if they move down and manage to have two 1st Round Picks (Via Raiders). Anyone else have anyone they’d like to add?
-
I’m starting to wonder if Noah Fant doesn’t fall. Hockenson is likely to be the #1 TE now, and Irv Smith might jump his as well (better route runner, better blocker). If Fant could be taken in the 2nd Round and we could move down to take someone like Risner later in round 1, I’d be ecstatic.

Mitch Morse to me should be their number 1 target. Or Paradis, but I feel like we’ll use more gap and power schemes than zone, which points to Morse. Secondly I’d go after Tyrell Williams. He’d be their instant #1. It might be “overpaying”, but I think he might come in under what Sammy got last year, and he’s a better player in my opinion. Third big one would be a depth corner. That group needs a solid veteran to challenge Wallace. Fourth would be a tight end. But I think they plan of signing and drafting one regardless. After these moves they’d be able to focus their 1st three picks on Tackle, Tight End and Defensive line. -
Marquise Brown LisFranc surgery
Dkollidas replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope he recovers and has a great career. but I don’t see us taking him, and this only cements it in my mind -
Yes, that’s why I’m saying I think 1st Round elite atheletes might be where they stray away, by the time you get to the 2nd round and beyond, I think you can basically find your flavor out of a group of similarly rated players. and yes, Allen technically has another year of eligibility, but he had graduated and was able to participate in the senior bowl.

Seeing if anyone has picked up on any of this regimes draft tendencies? It’s difficult because the first year was run by McDermott but scouted by Whaley’s group. This past year was then drafted by Beane/McDermott and their scouting staffs. I think one thing I’ve noticed that’s carried through both seasons is the regimes preference for seniors, or at least guys who are senior bowl eligible players. The entire 2017 class was seniors, but was that just a case of McDermott trying to hedge his bets and take the most proven commodities he could find, with low bust potential? Furthering this theory, besides Edmunds, a true physical freak, and one who still played 3 years of college football, even though he was drafted at age 19, the Bills took all seniors last year as well... Allen and Phillips still has eligibility, but we’re technically graduated. I thinj this provides a good look at how they'll go about business, i.e. the first round pick will just be best player available. After that they’ll stick to seniors as much as they can. I could see them going for a guy like Metcalf with 9th overall, or some other physically imposing athlete. And then in the rest of the draft look for guys who who are talented but proven to supplement that pick and help to provide depth throughout the roster. Metcalf does remind me a lot of Edmunds. 1. Both positions of great need 2. Both athletic freaks (obviously depends on Metcalf’s combine, but I expect him to blow up and really help himself). 3. Both have no off-field issues 4. Both come from major football families (can add Zay Jones to this one as well). Edmunds has two brothers in the league and s father who was a pro bowler. Metcalf has a father, uncle and grandfather who combined for 27years in the NFL. I think they may view it as something helpful for younger players coming into the league to have someone that close that has had the experience. - lastly as a note, I see Dalton Risner as this years version of their Harrison Phillips. He’ll slip a bit because he’ll be 24 at the start of the season. But he’ll cone in and be a day 1 starter and the type of guy fans here will love just like Phillips.
