  1. The article reminds me off when the UB Bulls turned down their invitation to the Tangerine Bowl because Willie Evans would have to be treated differently in Florida than everyone else on the team because of his race. The turn down was not generally seen as a negative nationally, but as a very positive move. Yes, the Bills of the 60's were a memorable bunch, from Lookie Lookie Here Comes Cookie, to Golden Wheels and Dangerous Dan McGrew.
  2. This is surely critical news.
  3. How about if his chips and attitude get him in trouble outside the stadium, even if he's religiously doing his assigned tasks in games?
  4. One year I was reaching for a wing and another hand was about to grab the same wing. When I saw whose hand it was, I yielded, because Tim Russert could always have my wing.
  5. I periodically have vivid nightmares about the Bills. They occurred more often when Ryan was "coaching" and when EJ was attempting to be a Bills quarterback.
  6. Did he see Allen play last year? Quite possibly not. Late last season the Washington Post's football guru, Mark Maske, published his weekly ratings of NFL teams. He dissed the Bills and basically said Allen was a big disappointment. I e-mailed him and suggested he watch tapes of the games Allen had played in. I don't listen to or necessarily believe so called experts like Cowherd anymore.
  7. Good thread. Kemp was a class act. While on the Hill, he, Henry Nowak (the Canisius College basketball great and later congressman), and, I believe, Congressman John LaFalce (Kenmore) started the annual Buffalo Nite on Capital Hill, which is still going strong. One year at the shindig, Jack and I chatted. His son had just signed his first pro football contract with (I believe it was a west coast team). Of course contracts at that time were a lot bigger than during Kemp's playing days. So I said to Kemp, "Congratulations on your son's signing. He's probably making more as a rookie than you ever made as a star." Jack smiled, shook his head and said "Isn't that the truth." As a professional and a person, Jack Kemp is truly missed.
  8. So you basically want Allen to call the same plays Daboli would be calling.
  9. This thread didn't go off the rails, it went into the toilet.
  10. This team has so many new "pieces" it's hard to know when and if it will jell. But if it occurs early, and Allen improves as hopefully he will, we could be looking at 10-6.
  11. Is the new airport at the same location as the current one? If not, where will it be?
  12. Wait until Shady sees those holes. It'll be the real McCoy.
  13. Why must a team have a number 1 receiver? What's wrong with a number of competent wideouts that give Allen multiple options and pose problems for defenses? The Duke Williams experiment could prove very interesting.
  14. We don't need coverage. We need skill in drafting and good instincts. A bit of luck helps as well. If it all works, there'll be plenty of coverage.
  15. Wonder if we preferred Montgomery, who was picked shortly before we got our shot.
  16. Knox was a really interesting pick. He could turn out to be a hidden gem, despite the detractors who think you can only excel if you've scored a lot of touchdowns in college.
