  1. There is no much to talk about. The Sabres are missing three of their top five defensemen. Tallinder and Kalinen are out for the duration of the playoffs and Numminen will likely not be back, as well. Against a team as good as Carolina, this is deadly, as was shown tonight. The Sabres were unable to generate much in the way of offense, which they must have if there is any chance of defeating Carolina. Without their primary defensemen who normally get the puck up to the forwards, there was no flow and little effective puck movement. Plus, Carolina started Martin Gerber, who was a rock and combined with Carolina's stifling defense to keep the Sabres from getting many good shots on goal. The Sabres power play was, basically, powerless, as well. It looks less than good. On the brighter side, where on the south island are you located? I love the island, especially Queensland.
  2. Terry Bradshaw would likely have scored a minus on the 'lick. So I guess what he accomplished as a player was a mistake.
  3. Headlines in San Diego a few years back. "A+ draft, especially with the first pick, Ryan Leaf."
  4. It's very simple. Ralph could save zillions of bucks by getting rid of his GM, other personnel types, and scouts, and sit at the table draft day with nothing but his draft guide. With a little encouragement, Dan Snyder would undoubtedly do the same at the Redskin's table (he may already be doing it since the number of picks he has to make is miniscule and he certainly thinks he knows more than anyone he would have to pay). Here's a novel thought: if Ralph isn't up to it, he could let one of the experts on this board fill in for him.
  5. Following the board the last two days, you get the impression that to many posters, it's the world against them. Ralph doesn't know what he's doing, even though he is not drafting anybody, and that's killing us. Marv is a loser who doesn't have a clue; he's killing us. Modrak has been the source of all our problems for years. I never heard of this guy so he has to be a loser; what a waste of a pick. Etc. etc. etc. Relax people, we drafted a tremendous amount of upside. Just because your draft guide hypes the players with the reps, frequently created by university PR offices, and because they received a lot of tv exposure, doesn't mean the ones without the headlines are losers. How many fans that went crazy with joy when Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, Heath Schuler and the like were drafted are still saying "what happened?" Give the new regime a chance, don't be blinded by the glitz, and be thankful that our powers that be realize that our old, humbled defense needed a major overhaul. I do believe that we would have gone more OL if there was much in the way of qualify to be had. I'd rather have what we got rather than Winston Justice's rap sheet.
  6. Cigarettes don't give you revelations. They give you cancer.
  7. The Bills really do need a safety. All those who felt Milloy was ineffective because of injuries ignore all the steps he had lost.
  8. There are lots of morons who think they have something "important" to say. That's how you learn who/what they are.
  9. Curse the Sabres. They played a lousy second and third period and deserved to lose. I shouldn't blame the whole team. But when key players like Miller and Max stink it up, you lose.
  10. On the same show today, when asked about Hoge's comments, Sean Salisbury said Hoge is "crazy." Also, Salisbury really likes Brodie Croyle (a healthy one).
  11. Does anyone think that Ralph Wilson, with all the reports over the years about what will "definitely" occur once he passes, has merely accepted the party line that it's a hopeless situation for the Bills and they will be gone. Wilson has always been extremely loyal to the Buffalo fans, and to think that he could care less about what happens to this franchise is, hopefully, selling him very short. Wills are what reveal one's deepest thoughts. Until Ralph's is read, all bets are off as to what it says about the future of this franchise. Just because his daughter does not want to run a football team doesn't mean all hope is lost. For instance, who is to say that Ralph doesn't direct that the franchise be sold to local interests unless none prove to available or interested. But of course, there are undoubtedly participants on this board who have inside information; so perhaps I am wrong. Everyone was convinced that the Sabres were goners. And that was a much more scary situation to speculate about than this one, hopefully, will be.
  12. HOF Bradshaw probably never took it but if he had, he probably got a 2.
  13. And they're still zillions under the cap, no doubt.
  14. We are not taking a quarterback. Nall would never have been signed if we had any thought about doing so.
  15. It's not a answerable question at this point in time. Why not just flip a coin. There is no basis for proclaiming that any of these three have an edge. JP is little more than a rookie who hasn't shown much; Holcomb is a journeyman who is little more than that; and Nall has been around but hasn't played much. Nall has shown more in his brief appearances that JP. But, obviously, until they all get their shots in camp and in the exhibitions, it's anybodies guess. Again, any speculation now is purely guesswork. I hope this question disappears from the board until the games begin. And even at that point in time, the answer may well rest with who is best able to best dodge the rush.
  16. The Sabres have shown that you don't need big names to win. You can win with decent, if not outstanding, talent if you are able to meld it into cohesive units that play with intensity. The jury will be out all season.
  17. It is certainly not a given that B will get T the ball as much as T will like to have it. I can see T turning on B even faster than he did on McNabb. McNabb was never the type to get rattled, and underperform, as Bledsoe has traditionally done. So if it occurs, T could easily do his thing and Parcells could have his hands full. While driving thru the Philadelphia area today, some of the local sports talk announcers were speculating about this sort of thing.
  18. Brilliant! And you forgot to mention that Marv is also responsible for Norwood's screwed-up kick.
  19. Great deal for the Jets. Pennington may be finished and Ramsey was totally misued by the Redskins. Ramsey is bright, has a decent arm, and was drained of his confidence the way he was used. This whole expectation that young quarterbackes with an upside should be able to produce out of the gate is ridiculous. I'm trying to give JP a break here.
  20. How about a trade guys? Give them a relatively high pick, if we really want this guy and they are willing to forgo the big salary. Bidwell has always been a spendthrift, or sorts.
  21. I just keep thinking of the last free agent OL we signed from the Ravens.
