The Shanahans, one or both, would be a major mistake. Mike is a mediocre coach who became a name thanks to Elway. Plus his lack of judgement on how he handled RG III and possibly ruined the kids career is well documented and says eons about him. Kyle apparently can't get along with anyone other than his father. DON'T TOUCH THEM!
Yes, he's so innovative he almost got RGIII killed. When that failed, he held Griffin out of every preseason game the following season but started him in the opener (smart move); and almost got him killed again. Just what we need, the losing "big name coach" created by John Elway.
Mike (Mr. Elway made me a big name) Shanahan would be a disastrous pick for HC. What's he done since Elway retired other than get fired? The was a total joke when he had overall control over Redskin decision making and personnel, Plus, his poor judgement may have ruined Griffin's career. There are so many things he did wrong with Griffin (and McNabb before him) that it's a joke. Anyone wants an enumeration I'd be glad to oblige. DON'T FALL FOR THE DENVER RECORD WHILE ELWAY WAS THE QUARTERBACK TERRY. This guy would be very detrimental to the Bills (and just about any other team).
Absolutely no logic to starting Orton other than to try to wrack up one more win in an effort to save your job. This isn't about the future of the team but the future well being of the coach. Says more than anything else about Marrone and his judgement.
What should they be saying at this point? They are hopefully seeking the best possible advice on how to proceed and their actions will speak louder then words. The only ones who should be speaking are the fans, saying over and over again "Thank you."
Orton has nothing to prove. He's a given. Manuel has plenty to prove, probably can't, but what can you lose? It's a no brainer to play him. However, if EJ has a great game, don't stop looking for a quarterback, please.
What's also worth a thousand words, and actually a lot fewer, is why Orton has been on six or seven teams.

A sub-par quarterback does not become a star in the NFL even with a great coach. Yes, there are exceptions such as Brady. But no one really knew if he was sub-par or merely lacked playing time in college, It's probably the latter. This suggests that if you go prospecting for guys with interesting upside and potential but no clear celebrity, you might come up with a nugget (Johnny Unitas for example). It's like prospecting for gold; you might get lucky. By the way, no matter how good a coach may be he probably wouldn't make a star out of EJ.
As much as I dislike him, there's no logical reason EJ shouldn't start next week. Of course if he miraculously has a really good game against NE, people might start thinking we should go with him next season. I wouldn't go there at this point in time.
If Marrone wants to save his job, he should start by quickly dispensing with his buddy Hackett before Marrone himself becomes part of a package deal. Not to say this organization doesn't need a package deal, including Orton.
Bills fans have swallowed so many tough pills it's a wonder any of us are still healthy. But that's a Buffalo thing: put up with the pain; the law of averages says that one day it will get better. As a Buffalo sports fan, the "will" is more appropriately "may."
Spiller rarely does damage. You don't take an offense that just beat Green Bay and throw in Mr. "I can run outside anytime I want even though it never works."
We've heard this before. But they usually improve quickly when they play the Bills for some reason. Brady's quick release and accuracy doesn't hurt them.
Why hasn't he been playing great? Where there's smoke there's usually fire. If Tennessee's clueless or overstocked at that position, he's worth looking at.
