  1. No it needs to be Dunkirk Don. Most polarizing guy at TBD
  2. But you don't really roast someone because they are beloved. You roast someone who can you laugh at. You can't really laugh much at Fred. I would agree that there is more material with Moorman. Downside is, he's not as a big of a name to sell tickets.
  3. I want Billy Joe Herbert
  4. Some members are better Roast subjects than others - but we can all agree the first subject needs to be: @Dunkirk Don
  5. Maybe a WGR Roast, but in the traditional sense a roast is not really a walk down memory lane. Even so, there's really not a lot to bust his chops about. He's a very well-liked player and there really isn't much you can make fun of him about. Not a lot of material there - which is why I think he wasn't the best choice
  6. Thank you - finally someone that understand comedy and what I was trying to say. I like Eric Wood and listened to him every week he's been on WGR the past two seasons. He's an insightful guy but not really a funny storyteller. Same thing with Aaron Williams. Fitzpatrick IS pretty funny. He might be the only presenter worth hearing
  7. Yeah because personal anecdotes that take 5 minutes to set up are more funny than jokes which are universally understood. I'm just stating this because I hear it advertised on WGR quite a bit and I just don't feel Fred's Roast will be funny. My opinion
  8. Smaller receiver but he seemed to play real well in the CFL. Hoping that he gets a shot with NYJ
  9. I'm speaking in a general sense. If we have to listen to long story to hear something funny, chances are there aren't a lot of good angles you can take for jokes. Also - Aaron Williams, Bryan Scott, and Eric Wood aren't exactly the greatest storytellers. Fitzpatrick is actually funny so there's one hope there. My point was - they should have found a better subject Sure but some people make for funnier roasts than other do. My point is Fred probably was not the best subject if you want to see a humorous roast like you'd see on Comedy Central
  10. Yeah someone at WGR who selected Fred as the subject for a roast
  11. Thank you....this was my original point. Some seem to be misinterpreting what I was trying to say. I get that it's all in good fun but as @NoSaint said much better than I did - there's not a lot of angles for quality jokes. Therefore Fred's the wrong guy to roast
  12. My problem is the Lapdog is that he never seems to stand up to Mike. Mike will pontificate on why his view is the best and Bulldog agrees with him 95% of the time. If he doesn't agree he certainly won't voice his opinion. That's why I think Sal Capaccio and Mike were a better fit. Sal would respectfully disagree with Mike and they'd go back and forth. Of course when Sal makes a good point Mike can't counter he just says "OK.....OK" and moves onto another subject. LOL You never really hear any memorable debates or exchanges between Schoop or Bulldogs. It's just Mike spouting off and the Bulldog backing him up. I don't agree with Mike and thing he comes off as smug sometimes but he's great for talk radio. Bulldog - not so much Schoop calls it like he sees it and comes off like a jerk but I can respect him as a talk show host. Bulldog on the other is brutal to listen to and won't stand up to Mike.
  13. I keep hearing WGR trying to hype their roast of Fred Jackson next month: http://www.wgr550.com/events/wgr-roast-fred-jackson Years ago they started this with a Thurman Thomas roast and rightfully so. Thurman is a great guy to roast because while we all love him, there are definitely things that you can poke fun at him about. Thurman also has a great sense of humor and can dish it right back. In my opinion, Fred Jackson is the wrong person they should have used as a subject for the roast. Watch the roasts on Comedy Central or before that, the Dean Martin Roasts. You roast someone with things that you can actually make fun of them about. You want to make a joke at someone's expense, while it's all in good fun, the jokes are somewhat mean spirited. Honestly, does anyone really want to see Fred Jackson get made fun of? And what really is there is to make fun or Fred about? He's an underdog that overachieved big time -- one of the most likable players in team history. We all love Fred, so when someone takes a shot at him we'll probably empathize with him as opposed to laugh at his expense. It would be like "roasting" a guy like Frank Reich. Not gonna work. You really have to stretch to find things to make fun of Fred about, and without professional comedians helping to write it's going to be tough. If you go this this - I'd bet the ranch that it really won't be funny. It might be cool to see former Bills and fun event, but there's no way it will be as funny as a real roast. There are much better candidates to be roast subjects associated with the Bills. Here are my top options - all of which would be miles better than Fred. I want to hear your suggestions too. Front Office Personnel: Terry Pegula Russ Brandon (instant sell-out, mark my words) John Murphy (Bills fans would love this one) Marv Levy Current players: Tyrod Taylor (great guy but definitely things you could poke fun at him about) Richie Incognito (imagine this one) Bills Legends: Jim Kelly Bruce Smith Doug Flutie Former Bills: Ryan Fitzpatrick Terrell Owens (a perfect candidate) Donte Whitner Marcell Darius Of course, there's a three-way tie for the greatest roast subjects in Bills history - The Doug Marrone Roast, The Rex Ryan Roast, or the Doug Whaley Roast. Legendary. What other Bills players/personnel would you like to see roasted?????
  14. Too bad that Donald's leaving. I have to say, he was starting to get much better on air and you actually listen to the show. When he first started Donald was terrible and the show was unlistenable. As far as a replacement, I get the idea that this job might not pay so great and that's kind of a p/t position or else they'd have a bigger name in the co-host chair. Also aside from co-hosting, Donald also was running a community program for West Seneca schools. Thurman, Tasker, and Ruben Brown all have had regular segments, but I'm thinking they probably don't want to commit to the show, they can't commit, or they money just isn't worth their time. Also for those speculating Sal Capaccio - I guess it's possible. He would to leave WGR (Entercom) and join PSE for a position which might for all we know might be part time. I think they'll get a guy like a Brian Moorman. A lesser known name
  15. This guy’s sources have been pretty lousy. I trust Dunkirk Don more
  16. Interesting, out of the 4 players you mentioned, only Bruce Smith really had a few standout years after '94.
  17. I disagree 100%. Theres most certainly is a place for analytics and the good coaches use that information to their advantage. If you read the article, Beane’s not getting rid of the department. Just reshaping it to help the team better
  18. Right from the start it seemed bizarre to hire a coach that was anything but analytics-driven. I think his intentions were good and he was trying be cutting edge, but in the end it really was a hoax, as you put it
  19. Its not a terrible idea in theory and Vince has nearlt 2 years to get ready, which should be a good thing. i think they have to focus more on making it different. The shorter game is actually a good idea.
  20. This is fantastic. So basically Beane is getting rid of the Bills analytics department because it really sounds they were weren’t offering much to the football side of things. I remember back in 2013 when the Bills canned Chan Gailey. Russ Brandon called a press conference on New Years Day to announce he was given the title of President - essentially taking the reigns from Ralph officially. He played to the fan base by talking about how it was a era and that the “new” Bills were going to be analytics driven. He said the brand was tarnished and announced his plans to start the analytics department for football operations. At the time this was the hot trend in the NFL, so fans were pumped. Russ then announced the hiring of the director, Michael Lyons, who I believe worked at Kodak. But then he hired Doug Marrone, who while a competent coach, was not really one to use data to make decisions on the field. He made this abundantly clear at his press conferences. Of course the next coaching hire, Rex Ryan, also was not an analytics guys either It made many wonder “what the hell are the analytic guys doing, if they aren’t that involved with coaches.” Then a journalist asked Russ and he basically said they were involved with providing analytics for ticket sales on the business side of things. This was the opposite of what Russ spoke of on New Year’s Day. I remember being very annoyed, because again, it was another interesting idea that the organization botched....yet again. Im not blaming Russ because who knows what happened, but man, another idea that didn’t nearly live up to its hype. So I am all in favor of Beane building a new analytics department. There was no reason for the department to be housed until football operations if they had little impact on the on field product. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/25/bills-axe-analytics-staff/
  21. Only the ones who whine about starting threads. We do have a few of them here
  22. Topical issue..also complaining about threads is so BBMB
  23. My hope is that Dabol really learned from his past failures and from working in New England at a high level. Also, it's believed that he very well could have been the successor to Josh McDaniel or that McDaniel could have hired him as OC for the Colts/Titans position. That has to say something about him as a play caller.
  24. I know he loved Rex. Even came to Buffalo for his press conference
  25. I guess I'm in the minority that wants to see the Jags lose more than the Patriots.
