  1. Which team was Gabriel a GM again?
  2. This really make zero logic for Cleveland, unless they are dead set on landing Barkley and passing up Darnold. This seems like a move the Browns of the past few years would make. The problem is they would again, be passing on a QB. I don’t think Dorsey would do it
  3. No you are right. I feel that all sports need an off-season. It gives fans a slight break and builds anticipation for the year. I feel there’s a good reason that this idea never really succeed in professional sports
  4. Maybe not worse, but technically his percentage of success is lower than the GM’s who followed him. Lets put it this way - it’s like a rookie hitter in baseball batting .350 in a handful of games vs. a player who has played in all 162 and is hitting .299. Doesn’t mean the rookie is better but percentage wise he does have the higher BA.
  5. IMO I think both leaves have an uphill battle. I’d agree that the Ebersol league has a much better chance to succeed given his involvement with former NFL talent and personnel. IMO the biggest issue with the XFL was the fact that Vince McMahon was the owner. WWE is seen by the majority of people as “low brow,” especially from legit sports writers. I don’t think many journalists ever got past that. Of course, the XFL sure gave reporters and fans alike a reason not to like the product. I felt that the concept was pretty good but the overall execution of the XFL sucked. The question I have is, if the AAL or whatever they call the league is successful who will NFL react? It makes me wonder if involvement in another football property will strain relationships.
  6. I have to agree. Initially I was very pissed off considering he was a high 2nd round draft pick and was coming off a bad year. But the more I thought about it - there has to be some major issues going on here. I wish Zay the best of luck and as glad to hear that his brother basically saved his life
  7. I’m sorry but this was an absolute TERRIBLE draft pick by McDermott.
  8. This kid seems like a he’s got issues
  9. You actually have to go back and read what he wrote - not just guess. He sang Peterman’s praises all through the 2017 draft and regarded him as one of the best Qb’s in the class. When the Bills drafted him, he boldly predicted that he would replace Tyrod before the middle of the season. The when ghe the season started he criticized Tyrod and called for NP. Surprising but after 5 INT his praise stopped. Gee I wonder why. Greg was really really wrong here
  10. I think it was more psychological than physical. Also, I don’t really think he was ever helped by coaching via a defensive minded HC like Dick Jauron or a never-was OC like Turk Schonert. I do remember Trent’s debut versus New England. He looked great. Really thought we had something
  11. People here want to act like Greg is never wrong. He missed big time on Peterman
  12. Did Greg Gabriel ever get the chance to draft a QB?
  13. Major shade thrown here at Jordan Matthews. He’s a good WR but a #3 at best
  14. He’s a miss in my book. 1 good season (really a good half season) is not enough. For 2013 he was a HIT, overall he’s a miss.
  15. He played ONE season. ONE season. Does that really constitute a hit? I don’t think so - the same reason why I will call one of my favorite Bills players Karlos Williams a miss. There needs to be at least some longetivity to constitute a hit. Kiko played one year
  16. Terrible moves. Will never happen
  17. I am in agreement with you. He was a nice player but did not have the impact at RB that a Top 10 pick should. Sadly, there are people in this thread who argued Spiller was a hit! Nope it’s not flawed. Some people just have a wider definition of success than others. Like I just said, some want to call C.J. Spiller at #8 a good selection
  18. I would expect nothing less.... I guess one year of production constitutes a good pick?
  19. That makes sense. But shouldn’t a hit in the seventh round be worth more points than a hit in the first round? Percentage wise a large number of first round talents have a much greater success rate than in the later rounds. If you can find a hit at the bottom of the draft, it shows some good decision making IMO Are we going to pull out secondary and honors now? Regardless, 1 productive season does not make him a hit in my book. He’s certainly close. But in the grand scheme of things he had mininmal impact on the team. Also he didn’t play 120 games on the Bills. The evaluation takes into account their time on the Bills only. Games played is not a good indicator of success. Based on your rationale Todd Collins was a hit in the 2nd round.
  20. Thats ok. It’s not a perfect system but there isn’t a perfect situation out there. Determining what constitutes as “successful” draft pic is arbitrary. What hurts Polian is the fact that he had way more picks than most other GM’s due to 12 round drafts. His number is somewhat decieveing but it is what it is Thats actually a very good idea but it hard to quantify.
  21. It was a joke but follow my thread Hits and Misses
  22. No I don’t agree. 1 good season does not constitute a successful draft pick - certainly not a 2nd draft pick. Also watch Kiko’s rookie season. He had a very strong 6 games but his play tailed off after that - especially against the run. He was considered defensive ROY during the first few weeks. The talk quieted down by the end of the year. Yep but this only takes into account draft picks and by trades. Also if Kiko is so good, why is Miami seriously considering drafting Roquon Smith to take his spot.
  23. Ok I don’t quite agree. I do think that his ACL injury was a huge factor so bad luck might have come into play.
  24. Sorry but that doesn’t make him a great 2nd round pick
  25. Russ Brandon was actually more successful at drafting than Bill Polian
