Larry Triplett is a great choice because he was very expensive and really played like garabage. im going to throw another out there: Quinn Early - He had his best season ever in New Orleans and we signed him to a decent sized contract after he eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark. Quinn was okay with the Bills but he never found the form that he had the previous season.

Long story short - Jim Kelly retired leaving the with only Todd Collins and Alex Van Pelt on the roster. Collins was going into his 2nd year and the team didn’t know how he’d be as starter. Van Pelt was a solid 3rd string QB - not seen to compete for the starting spot. So thr Bills traded for Billy Joe who showed flashes with the Raiders in limited work. He was the insurance in the event that Collins sucked - which he did. When Billy Joe got his chance he was really bad and admitted he never bothered reading the playbook.
