  1. He’s just setting up the eventual mixed tag team match at Wrestlemania 35: Terry and Kim Pegula vs. Donald and Melanie Trump
  2. Sure he’d make my head spin with what he knows about football in the 1970’s and 1980’s. He hasn’t worked in a front office in nearly 3 decades since Jerry fired him 1989. A lot has changed since then.
  3. LOL I’m not defending the old football GM’s. Just asking others opinions of them. And yes, I do think that Gil at age 81, Gil is too old and that the game has passed him by
  4. I have followed this year’s draft coverage pretty close, especially as it pertains to the Bills. There’s one common thread with many members of the local media - that is the frequent ridicule of GM’s with an older mentality - “football guys” if you will. A perfect example is Buddy Nix. When he drafted EJ Manuel in 2013 all he could do was talk about the size of his hands. That’s an example of old football adage and it’s clear many feel that thinking and method of evaluation is antiquated. He also was extremely stubborn and wouldn’t draft, say a Russell Wilson, because he didn’t fit what was once considered an accepted criteria for being a QB in the NFL. On the past two episodes of their podcast Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn have been throwing shade at GM’s like Dave Gettleman and John Dorsey. Fairburn sarcastically said something along the lines of “I don’t think John Dorsey is one of the smarter GM’s in the league” and also had similar comments about Dave Gettleman’s refusal to A.) not draft a QB at #2 and B.) to stubbornly bypass tremendous value from other teams in a trade to draft a RB. Heres what Schoop said in his article yesterday: “I want the NFL Draft to stick around because Browns general manager John Dorsey and Giants general manager Dave Gettleman are so old-school that when they talk, my endorphins kick in and by just hearing them I've done the equivalent of 20 pushups.” Howard Simon and Jeremy White have also taken little jabs at this type of “football speak” as well. Then of course, there’s a Bill Polian who was criticized heavily for his evaluation on Lamar Jackson. Not just locally, but nationally as well. Perhaps these comments highlighted the old-school mentality, and not in a good way So so what is your take? Are these old-school wise with tired and true methods? Or are they just old guys blowing smoke and staying true to an antiquated mindset?
  5. Everything I have read from NE is that Beichick knows he has a team with, to use a worn out phrase from TBD, “too many holes.” He was hoping to use the extra pick to add another starter to the team. Of course, it doesn’t mean they won’t trade or draft a QB, I just don’t see them doing it
  6. Why do I get the sinking feeling the Bills will draft Mason Rudolph at #22
  7. Here is an interesting write-up from Sal Capaccio who mentions that Rudolph might be a QB that the Bills are considering. It’s been very quiet over the past few days and that leads to be believe that they might be waiting to see how the board falls with the big 4 QB’s before making a move to trade up to see. The risk there is when you wait, it opens the window for a team to leapfrog over you - almost like how the Jets jumped to #3. I think there’s an excellent that Rudolph is the pick at #12. I would be disappointed if this happens. If Rudolph was the guy the whole time, the Bills never should have traded up to 12. http://www.wgr550.com/articles/opinion/capaccio-rudolph-shouldnt-be-forgotten-man-bills-qb-mix
  8. Well congrats on the news @whatdrought We can do Starbucks too because in 9 months or so that coffee will come handy, trust me! j/k Yes, I am pretty certain the Jets will not take Rosen. Here’s why... Jets owner Woody Johnson is an ambassador to the UK for the Trump administration. Rosen is known for being outspoken against Trump and conservative politics. Everyone knows it to. There’s no way Woody makes Rosen the face of the organization
  9. Exceot for the fact they traded up in the 1st to take a QB 2 seasons ago. Denver won’t go QB
  10. Lets make a friendly wager @whatdrought I propose a $20 gift card to Tim Horton’s
  11. Listening to One Bills Drive interview with Ian Rappaport. When discussing QB’s, Steve Tasker seriously asks about the possibility of Cleveland drafting a QB with both #1 and #4. But not to trade one of th two but to keep them both on the roster to increase their chances of “getting it right.” After asking the question Kind of walked it back by saying “they couldn’t do this....could they?” Rappaport kind of thought it was crazy question, but essentially said anything is possible. I think the idea makes sense on paper, but the reality is they’d be carrying 4 QB’s on the roster. They wouldn’t have enough snaps to really develop both QB’s at the same time. Plus they would be passing up, as Chris Ballard would say , “premium” talent at #4. Id hunk you want to take 1 QB and double down on him, as opposed to trying develop 2 QB’s at the same time All in all, kind of a goofy question for Tasker to ask that surprised me.
  12. Nope Jets aren’t taking Rosen. Flip Rosen and Mayfield and you are probably right
  13. Not fan of Mike, but he’s being very logical in his assessment. Far too often gets get overly optimistic about the QB
  14. Pretty good article from Mike Schoop here. There have many several members in this forum that are optimistic about the prospect of starting McCarron or Peterman this season and not drafting a rookie QB behind them. http://www.wgr550.com/articles/opinion/draft-hype-both-exciting-and-nauseating “ The Bills sign a backup quarterback. Callers to talk shows see two things: 1.) A sports story they can relate to, one of a hard-working guy that never really had a chance before. This is how things go in movies. These fans might even see the player as getting an opportunity that they in their lives haven't gotten, but have yearned for. (We presume backups are hard-working because they haven't been glorified, which is a faulty assumption. Maybe they're backups because they're not hard-working?) 2.) They hear "the media", in their minds, demeaning the player by taking what's really only an objective appraisal of the situation. The result is what these fans love -- an opportunity to tell the same media people, probably people they see as undeservedly entitled, to flick off.”
  15. If anything Russ would love it if the Bills traded up to draft a top 4 QB, as he loved signing TO and trading for Shady. Big name players make his department’s job much easier!
  16. I heard Beane’s press conference and he seemed ready to roll with the unit they currently have. I don’t see any high picks going for OL this draft
  17. I dont think this happens, but I do think there’s a better chance of Mayfield at #1 than the Giants taking a QB at #2. They are all in on Saquan Barkley
  18. One of John Butler’s worst first round picks ever. Can’t believe he made the transition to OT and that he’s still in the league. It’s a miracle teams would want to trade for him
  19. My heart is telling me that they will trade somewhere somewhere between 4-11 but the pessimist in me thinks they’ll do the “Billsy” thing, and keep the picks draft a LB or DT at 12 and 22, only to grab a QB like Kyle Lauletta or Mike White in the 3rd round. I can just see Brandon Beane or McDermott saying “We feel very confident with AJ and Nate at QB.” Hope it doesn’t happen but I can totally see it going down
  20. Super interesting. But for every Kyle Booker there’s a story of a GM like Buddy Nix who was interested in Russell Wilson but defaults. back to the traditional football scout “oh he’s too small to play QB in the NFL.” The Bills have to take a shot. by the way, where did Warren sharp come from? That dude is the man!
  21. No Jay is spot on here. The Bills have gone out their way to show that Russ is not involved in football decision. Russ himself as well.
  22. He also flat out denied the report by Tony Pauline. Wouldn’t confirm or deny that he had talks with NYG but did confirm that no deal is in place
  23. For once I agree with you. If the Bills don’t draft as QB high in the draft it’s going to be a huge meltdown in Buffalo
