  1. Funny should say that. On another episode of Moranalytics, Pat interviews Adam Shefter after the draft. Shefter was very high on Allen and said that a lot of well-respected people in the NFL that he knows love the guy. Same with Kiper. We just won’t know
  2. Well statistically speaking the odds are not in his favor. But I’ve heard the argument that a player’s success has more to do with coaching, scheme, and the plan a team has for his development, as opposed to the QB himself. Take a look at Jared Goff. He was looked like a bust his rookie year but McVay came in and upgraded his weapons and accentuated his positives. He probably doesn’t see that much progress with a different coach/scheme. As a Bills fan, I think you really have to have faith in Daboll
  3. Haha well that’s a fair assessment. Pat is certainly opinionated much like Greg. I’ll give him credit - he gets good guests both with relevance on a local and national level and his interviews are pretty good too.
  4. Thanks man. I wouldn’t rule out subscribing in the future. Just going to wait and see. Also so what’s your website!?!?!
  5. This is a very poor example because for years the “goods and services” have been offered for free online. It’s not like we started paying and then decided to stop, as you suggested. Within business it has always been a challenge charging for a produce that has historically been offered for free. We can look at countless industries and find examples. We saw this with satellite radio. Initially most people said “I’m not paying for radio.” For year’s most people didn’t and to this day you can argue that it never has really taken off. However to get people to pay for a service that offered for free - Sirius XM had to offer some value such as exclusive programming, commercial free music etc. Look at the failure of the BN Blitz. It didn’t fail because people didn’t like Bucky and Sully. It failed because people got news for free for years and the product didn’t entice them enough to subscribe. While it’s not the same situation, it’s coverage from a writer (Fairburn) which has been available for free through NYupstate. While great articles, it’s not enough to get me to subscribe. Look, I have nothing against The Athletic. I love Fairburn and Graham and I hope that it revolves and succeeds. I just disagree with those who thinks anyone that doesn’t want to subscribe is a cheap skate.
  6. That’s where we differ. I’m not paying to read online articles with information (like the Beane interview) that’s pretty much available for free.
  7. Thats the thing that he gets me. Listen to the interview. He speaks like he’s the only one who has answers. He even spends a lot of time putting down writers who do mock drafts. While he makes some good points, you get the impression that he thinks “my opinion is the only one that matters.” It makes for a good listen but at the same time Greg has never been the GM making the pick.
  8. Really? Because I listened to him on One Bills Drive this past Friday and he didn’t provide any new insight
  9. Yep he became Jarvis Landry by 2005
  10. For anyone that has never heard it before, this dude Pat Moran has a great podcast called Moran-Alytics. I guess that has been a blogger in Buffalo for nearly a decade and has the change to cover the Bills and Sabres for a few smaller publications. His podcast is focused largely on Bills and NFL football and he brings on many members of the Buffalo media and former players as well. http://moranalytics.com/ep-08-greg-gabriel-30-year-nfl-scout/ I went through his earlier archives and listened to former NFL scout and WNY native Greg Gabriel in April just before the NFL Draft. I've followed Greg on Twitter for a few years until he blocked me for disagreeing him. If you follow him, you know he is very much opinionated and outspoken. He was a staunch critic of Tyrod and a supporter of Peterman, which surprisingly died down after the start in San Diego. Go figure.... Anyway a few months ago, Greg was not a fan of Josh Allen or the majority of the QB's in this years draft. He said that all of the QB's are "overrated" and thinks it's possible that all but 1 will bust. He gives Baker Mayfield the best chance at succeeding. He is unsure about Darnold and feels that Josh Rosen lacks the intangibles to be successful. (Around 30 minutes) When Allen came up, he pretty much ripped him as a QB prospect. He said that Josh will be another Kyle Boller or Blaine Gabbert. A strong-armed QB who lacks the accuracy and mechanics to be successful. He said that Allen should have had, at minimum a 64% completion percentage in his conference and probably higher given the competition. Greg believes that these types of risks are the ones that get coaches and GM's fired. If he were the Bills he would have drafted Mason Rudolph and then taken another QB as well. He actually thought he might be a top 10 pick!!!!! (Around 36 minutes) When the discussion turns to LB, Greg feels that the Bills would love Roquon Smith and compared him to Luke Kuechley. He did mention Trumaine Edmunds but said that he lacked the instincts at MLB. He said that Edmunds reacts instead of anticipating and is basically an OLB playing MLB. He recommended Vander Esch as a better fit. If you listen to this interview - you will hear that Greg was very opinionated on these players before the draft in April. I'm not sure if he has changed his stance since then, but it's clear he is not a fan.
  11. I would disagree. While it was certainly a good article, Beane didn’t provide anymore insight than he does on One Bills Live. Speaking for myself and likely others, we certainly could afford to pay for The Athletic but I don’t want think it’s worth it when there’s so much free content out there. For me, there’s not enough value added to pay for something which has traditionally been available for free - as IS available for free. It’s very similar to podcasting. There’s podcasts that I’ll listen to occasionally like Colin Cowherd. If left Fox and started charging $2.99 a month to listen, I would pass. It’s not about the cost, I just don’t listen or enjoy it enough to subscribe, when there’s a lot of free content out there. Like I said, I’m keeping an open mind but right now there’s not enough value added to pay to read their coverage.
  12. Haha well I really do believe that Coach knew exactly what he was doing. His job was to get people talking and he couldn’t do that by being nice. So he took his real-life animosity for being fired by Levy and amplified it many decibels to create The Coach character - a football loving, loud mouth, trash talker. I am sure the way he talked to you was part of his act.
  13. It seems that Tim goes way too far on some of his Twitter attacks. In his defense, he typically only goes after people who write something nasty to him. Still I can see where it comes off bad for a BN employee to act that way, as opposed to simply ignoring it like most writers do. With you on The Athletic. At this point, it just doesn’t seem to be worth it. But maybe I will change my mind. We’ll see
  14. Cool im going to wait and see. At this point, Fairburn, Graham and the rest of The Athletic isn’t enough to get me to subscribe with so much free content, but if they add more I’d certainly be open
  15. Didn’t he also get into a bit of trouble on the famous Vikings booze cruise?
  16. Yes, of course. That was his schtick. He was the loud, outspoken coach that got fired for shooting off his mouth. He played that role to the hilt and made a lot of money doing so. Even at 80, he’d be money
  17. I can respect that but I have a different view. At this point, I know I wouldn’t get the $40 out of the subscription. I don’t spend a lot of time reading online articles to get value out of that. Also, does Fairburn or Graham offer enough that other journalists covering the Bills don’t?
  18. Keep in mind, this was 2005. Moulds’ better days were behind him. The team got rid of him, but you can’t blame them. He was out of the league two years later
  19. He had a terrific career with Buffalo. During his final few years with the team, it was clear that his skills were diminishing. He was no longer the explosive deep threat that he once once. By the time he left for Houston, he was on the downside of his career. At one time, he averaged 20+ yards per attempt on 67 receptions. His yardage was down to under 10 yards per catch. Still he has a very very good career with the Bills and I’d love to see him leading the heard at a home game someday
  20. Heaven forbid anyone is not optimistic about the Bills
  21. I’m with you. I’d actually be more inclined to pay for premium podcasts than a subscription to The Athletic
  22. I guess I’m in the minority here but I’m not paying - for the same reason I wouldn’t pay for the Buffalo Bills. There’s more than enough free coverage and while I love Fairburn and Graham (Not a fan of Turner), excludes articles from them just doesn’t entice me. Maybe if they continue to evolve, it will change my mind but now I don’t feel that I would get the $40 or so out of the subscription.
  23. LOL so I am glad to see I’m not the only fan of The Coach! I am telling you, a Chuck Dickerson podcast would be really funny and thanks to those who jogged my memory with some funny one liners. Listening to Coach on WGR actually made me hear what a strong WNY accent sounds like. It almost sounds like a Canadian/Chicago accent. People would be like: ”Oh Cooch. Dat Deefense of Da Billssss was zo bad taday. I’m gunna be zick da rest of Sundee.” LOL We can only hope someone puts together the podcast idea!!!!
  24. I disagree with y’all. I remember back in the 1994 when the wheels fell off of the Bills Super Bowl teams - largely because the defense stunk. Coach was on Marv’s arse every week about the defense, as well as about poor game planning overall. He called for the firing of Walt Corey and Dick Roach. He was 100% spot on, as Marv fired Corey and enjoyed a few good seasons thanks to Wade rebuilding the defense. Bottom line - he’s an entertaining guy. Hope to hear him on the podcast airwaves again
  25. In 2018, when just about everyone in sports media has a podcast, it made me think of one person who I feel the podcast medium would be perfect for - “The Coach” Chuck Dickerson! I would listen to The Coach after each Bills game and his rants would be legendary. I even remember a few years ago (maybe 2005) when he came back on 1180 AM in Rochester to do a Bills postgame show. Coach is still alive and well living in the Chicago area and I really feel that a post Bills game podcast would really be a good listen. What do you think?
