Proof Josh Allen Is Ready [Perhaps Not 100% Scientific]
Jerome007 replied to Paulus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Awesome! Really is. That he starts game 1 or not, that kid has got us excited! And the way the team reacts when he's on the field, he commands respect already. THAT is winning the preseason LOL He got us excited. Game 1 with his physical skills. Game 2 with his command of the huddle, audibles, hard counts, decisions. Good stuff! Edit: I sure hope he has a great game with the 1st coming up! -
You make some good points here. I disagree on the Peterman start though. It ended up quite badly but I agreed with it then. And he has made some game situation blunders... like he hasn't got a PROCESS for those. Weird. And even if they won the snow game, that punt with few minutes left in OT when a tie eliminated the Bills, I still can't grasp that one! The players saved the season that day IMO. Yet for all that I really think he's been a good coach and can be for a long time!

Josh Allen- One thing we can all agree on?
Jerome007 replied to GoodHands15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's all agree to disagree I think most of us would agree he should start preseason game #3 and play with the 1st stringers. The rest depends on a lot of things anyway. His play, Nate's play... and (hopefully not) injuries. -
It's with a guy like this I wish there was more of a "hockey" mentality. It's a preseason game, pay him back! I hate the guy 's guts for the way he ended Aaron William's career. Yeah, ended it, pretty drastic, no? This one wasn't so bad TBH. I'd find no reason with another player. It's because it's HIM that makes it dirty. And because the TV interviewer basically complimented him on it and Landry was so gleaming with pride.

Please name Josh Allen the starter

I think 90% of most us - make a poll maybe - would agree Allen should start preseason game #3 and play with the 1st team. The rest can be determined later. -

He threw ZERO deep pass against the Browns yet his arm strength still made a difference. Impressive First preseason we were drooling at his arm strength and mobility. Physical stuff. This time it was his poise, side steps, audibles, hard counts, 2 minute drills, command of the huddle... who expected that from him and so early? Again he'll have growing pains and make dumb rookie mistakes, but he is the best of the 3, well make that 2 QBs now, with the most upside. He has to start IMO. He has a lot to learn. but what quicker way than to do so on the job? He seems tough enough mentally to handle the inevitable slumps and all, and the coaches intelligent enough to mentor him mentally and not just skill wise and physically. And it's great that Nate has shown improvement that could make him a good backup. -

I kind of agree. But seriously, the Bills have been very unlucky in that 17 drought. A lot of subpar wildcard or even division winners in those 17 years. Last year they got things going their way for once. And you know what? It could happen again this year! And the Jags game was winnable for sure. The difference between winning & losing is often very small. Why do you think the Pats cheat so much? LOL -

Ha ha. Yeah you make a strong case. SIT HIM FOR FIVE YEARS!!! -
Baker Mayfield better than Tyrod already?
Jerome007 replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice post Red King. As far as I'm concerned the Browns are not the Bills so while I never wish anything bad and respect 99% of the player, the team itself can go down in flames LOL -

Jerome007 replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Baker has looked goods in the two games. I happen to watch hen he played in the 1st one too. As for TT, I was surprised the Brown's coaching staff put so many run plays. What, they didn't want Tahrod to show some pride and upstage his old team? He did very little cause that's what the plays called for. -

I tend to agree, but then you play your best players... IF, and it's a big IF, the Bills only win 4, well, play Allen so he learns for real, without undue pressure. And draft high! I say that but of course the goal is to win. It's just that it seems this season is a no lose proposition if Allen plays a lot (not necessarily from week one). Either the team wins NOW which is more fun and the goal, or they draft high next year and Allen has learned a lot. He was able to see 2 minute drill, goal line action, etc. And he handled it well. Hell the 2 minute drill - and audible and hard counts - was better than what experienced TT did in his 3 years here! So he convinced me that while he'll sure have growing pains and make dumb rookie mistakes, he's not just a big arm. He has enough wits for the position and to learn on the job! -
Why is nobody discussing the offensive line?
Jerome007 replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? He often got hit right away. He didn't have time to hold the ball too long! Anyway, he's out for a while but I really hopes he comes back sonner than later. We need 3 QBs! -

Jerome007 replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's what I see too, and we're far from the only ones. Yet I have to disbelieve my eyes and trust that professional coaches that are with them daily know better. But it's hard to distrust one's own eyes LOL -

It's true they looked good in the 1st game. They were so bad last night I forgot about it! How is that possible? Sure the opponents differ but come on. And for the OP, the O Line is discussed in all the threads I've looked. -

Since neither Nate nor AJ have shown to outclass Allen, why not start him? If it were still TT, sure. But IMO at least have Allen start this week 3. I would have liked too to have him groomed but he's as ready (or not) as the other two QBs which is now down to one anyway... He'll learn more by playing than watching Nate who is only a 2nd year guy with less than 2 games of NFL experience. And I like that Nate seems a quality backup as with that OLine play we might see all 3 QBs this year no matter who starts first! -

Mayfield is more NFL ready yet will be backup. Allen should be our starter just because he is the better QB out of the 3. Not by a lot mind you, but with the obvious upsides and "it" factor, the only reason I'd put him at #2 is that OLine will get whoever is there killed! Even Shady! -
Star Lotulelei: Where is the Impact?
Jerome007 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both the starting OLine and DLine gave reasons for us to be scared... to say nothing of whichever QB gets the #1 spot. The 2nd and 3rd units did well, but the 1st were pushed around bad. -
And they (team AND TV reporter) congratulate him! Take his knee out

We see things the exact same way. If the OL doesn't step up, after AJ, whoever is the next #1 might start Sunday in an hospital bed. I loved Allen's hard count try, his side step for the TD. Poise, basically. And I do like he got sacked hard without getting injured cause it was on him to see that free player so he will be more aware from now on. -
Really? What could he do? That OLine was crazy bad. Scary for any QB. DLine got pushed around. That's no good... IR and he can be back by week 8-10. I can't believe people that want a 2QB team! Allen impressed, again. Since his ceiling is high and the other don't outclass him at all, he should start. But it still sucks to lose a QB for so long
-
I think real Bills fans do not care who wins QB battle
Jerome007 replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty much this. I really like all 3 guys, I do, and in a way it sucks it can be only one that plays. But that's football and well say AJ doesn't see the field, 5M a year doesn't hurt the rest of his life... Unless AJ or Nate really outclass Allen, or Allen shows he's not ready,. I would have rather Josh start much sooner than later. Nothing beats real experience and he has so much potential that it's more for him to lose the spot than to win it. AJ & Nate are not established veterans either! Yet I agree with the premise of this thread and will go along with the coaches. -
We Learn A Lot About Allen When He Plays the Browns
Jerome007 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Yet it would be only his second NFL appearance, and it's preseason so he won't see complex packages designed to confuse a rookie QB. And even seasoned pros have had bad games. But again I agree that for him it's a chance to rise his stock or that he could lose his spot. TBH it's the same for all three QBs. I really do think it is open competition, just like it was when TT was on the team in the beginning. It's just that with Allen his ceiling is higher but his mistakes matter more, being a complete rookie. Weird that AJ seems such a veteran, and even Nate, while both have so little real game experience! -
I was very pessimistic. 2 gigantic unexpected holes on the O-line, QB uncertainty, the solid stars are aging. New OC, new players could mean a great upswing or steps back, we just don't know. But yeah, I don't recall a preseason game ever getting my hopes back up that fast. My reason tells me to hold on but emotionally I'm psyched. I can't wait for tomorrow's game. I don't know about you guys but I've rarely been keen on watching these preseason 3rd string players! I only watched the 3rd one typically. Suddenly we sense some hope, that maybe we have some starts on our hands and a OC that at last has some imagination - though I did like Roman's run schemes, just wished he had some pass ones to go along with it! But it was only one preseason game... Allen might be a superstar. There's just a lot of maybes, but at least these could turn out great, not just good.
