  1. Rico is spot on for Rosen at #2. His upside is Aaron Rodgers. But I would try to get Allen at 7-10. I think it can be done without giving up as much. The draft value of picks 7-10 is from 1500 to 1300 points. Which means trade #21 (800) and #22 (780) plus a throw in 3rd in 2019. That should be enough to get someone to make the deal. OR you could keep #22 and give up both #2 (370/350) a fifth this year and 3rd next. I would rather have two second round picks instead of #22.
  2. Yup. Beat me to it.
  3. It’s easy to say Gaines will be gone. But you never know. He might like McD zone heavy scheme. His injury history may make the market for him less than he or his agent thinks. Not sure if they can, but he would be a guy to place transition tag on. He is good enough to want to keep, but if a team signs him to big dollars it is an easy decision to let him walk.
  4. Agree on your first point. Basically having Larry Bird rights in the NFL. Veterans do get a discount against the cap. Not sure how it works. It may be only when they pay vet minimum it counts less against the cap.
  5. He was slow and couldn’t get separation even before he was injured. Terrible is probably an exaggeration. Solidly below average, played out of his best position, and at best a #3. Yes but I’m combining McDermott’s FA and draft moves with Beane. Nobody will ever know if Whaley had anything to do with the predraft moves. Most likely not, but he could have been part of the FA evaluations.
  6. Player, Grade then, now White A-, A+ Hyde A, A+ Poyer C+, A Benjamin B,B- Tolbert F,F DiMarco C-,F Ducasse D-,C+ Watkins/Gaines C-,B- Dareus D-,D- Darby/Matthews B+,D Thompson C, B Davis B+ These are my grades then and now. McBeane has had hits and misses and some of these moves are all McD. In fairness to them more hits than misses and some benefits still to come(draft selections/cap space). I loved the move down and White selection along with the extra pick. If Mahomes looks great in 2018 the Bills will look foolish. Hated the Dareus trade and still do. Only the cap space keeps it from a F. A better coach makes Dareus a star. I thought the Darby trade was good because I didn’t think that much of Darby but Matthews is terrible. Loved the Hyde signing at the time. I thought at the time that Poyer was too small to play safety and too expensive for a nickel DB. Happy to admit I was wrong.
  7. I will play along, if no FA or trade up for QB. (If Allen falls past 10 I do everything I can to get him) 1. Start TT 2. Get a DT, DB or sign Gaines, and a WR in FA along with some camp filler bodies 3. Draft OLB at 21 4. Trade out of 22 for a first next year and a third this year 5. Add an OT, DE, LB, DB later in the draft 6. Plan on meaningful games being played in December again 7. And plan a trip to Green Bay as soon as the schedule is released and tickets go on sale
  8. Do you think Belichick cares about character? If McBeane places character over talent they will be as bad as Levy/Jauron. Talent wins. They traded away talent for the future. I’m ok with that as long as they draft well and sign good group of FA. I would not have traded Dareus but the money will help in FA moving forward. McD did a great job retooling the secondary. Now he needs to fix the linebackers in FA if they are going to trade up for a QB.
  9. Only Gaines will get a big contract. No one is going to pay big money to Mathews. The Bills will likely cut Taylor, possibly John Miller, Lorax, Tolbert, and a few more. None of the cuts count in the comp pick formula. They will have far too many holes that will need to be filled in FA to lose more than they sign.
  10. Brown should have been a training camp cut. He was awful in 3-4. Thought he might be ok back in the 4-3 but he just isn't any good. I don't care about tackles. It is a meaningless stat. Modern NFL is about red zone defense, turnovers, and impact plays on third down. Brown offers little of that. He racks up tackles between the twenties. Who cares if they can't get off the field on third down. Need dynamic playmakers at OLB and MLB in FA/draft.
  11. Agree with your ranking
  12. The OP's entire premise is backwards. The draft lottery is about the number of bits at the apple not where you bite it. Trade down. Get more picks.
  13. LOL...how many TOTAL wins did Bortles have before this season? How many wins per season has every QB since Kelly had? This board moves the yard stick on TT every year. First it is not throwing over the middle, then come from behind wins, then taking sacks, only throwing the deep ball well, not throwing the deep ball well, make the playoffs, win a playoff game. As was said he is an above average QB that rarely loses the game. I like TT but I do think he lost the Jacksonville game. He made some bad throws and bad decisions. I hope they can upgrade because I don't like watching 14-10 games. I like watching the offenses do amazing things. I don't think TT has ever had a healthy set of WR but that is not an excuse with the marginal talent WRs like Amendola the great QBs turn into stars. It will be very difficult to do better than TT. It is more likely than not his replacement will be worse. The draft is a crap shoot wrapped in a lottery. Would I take Josh Allen over TT?Yes. But half this board wanted Manziel too. The TT apologists like myself will own up and be ridiculed if the rookie is a star. But if they trot out 5 INT Peterman and they start 1-7, we will be happy to remind this board that most wanted TT gone.
  14. Marv lost the Giants game. The NFC was the far better conference and the talent showed. The Bills got destroyed by teams that faced tougher competition and had better rosters especially their O-lines compared to the Bills front 7. At every position except Bruce there was a better player in the NFC. Rice>Reed, Smith and Sanders > Thomas (Oh that hurts to type as he is my favorite Bill of all time), Montana(NFC until 92)/Young/Aikman > Kelly, LT/Haley>Biscuit, more than half the TEs in the NFC better than Metzellars. White had size and strength. Bruce had size and speed. They are both the best of all time at DE. Wolford was a fine LT but I don't think he was even the best OT in SuperBowl 25. The Bills had great players but as has been pointed out were just outmatched up front. Would Smerlas have made a difference in XXV? Maybe. Maybe on sheer guts alone but who knows.
  15. Talley - most overrated Bill of all time. Why did the Giants have the ball so long? Talley missed more tackles in that game than he has GoFundMe sites Kelso - below average skills, no highlight moments except getting to the ball too late on every Michael Irvin catch
  16. Agree on Groy. Give Miller another shot. Trade down at least twice in first 3 rounds Draft BPA. I think they fill no less than four starting spots in FA - four of f these five LB, DT, RT, QB, QB Then draft TE, LB, DT, DE, QB, WR, C/G
  17. Most including me thought like you until Mularkey and Marrone got HC jobs
  18. Colts will hate McDaniels more when they realize Brady was not the player to be named later in the trade
  19. Gretzky, Jordan, Brady, Nicklaus, Serena Williams, and Federer in that order for greatest of all time in their sports. Woods was on track to take out Jack. There is no one player in baseball that is that much better than all the rest.
  20. Start Peterman a few more games and every DB in the AFC East will be in the ProBowl
  21. Reed and Gonzalez are HOF first ballots for sure. Waters might make it. The rest are not HOF players
  22. There was a Cowboys 49ers game where Madden said it was the first time he saw the three best players of all time at their position on the field at the same time - Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, and Larry Allen.
  23. Steve Hutchison was even better
  24. Dawkins is not HOF worthy. Beathard is borderline. Tom Flores should have been elected long before Beathard or Jerry Jones. I'm ok with Urlacher even though I think he was living on reputation his last several years in the league - not unlike Clay Mathews III is now. Kramer, Lewis, Moss, and TO were just special and dominant for years. I don't know anything about Brazile.
