Best thing about new collective bargaining agreement
Dadonkadonk replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And how do you feel when a team signs a guy to a three year deal and then they cut him after year 1? It's the same thing. If the guy plays well he wants to get paid more. If he plays poorly the team wants out. I have no issue with teams cutting guys, but I support the player holding out for a new deal any time they want. The real money is made in signing bonus in the NFL and if they outplay their contract they should get paid. All that said, the NFL and NFLPA has got the rookie structure dialed in nicely now. The slotting of money prevents the insane contracts to first round rookies of yesteryear like Sam Bradford got. It pushes more money to the vets. -
Define really good? There are consequences to tying up that much cap space in a QB. So it is a bit more complicated than you are making it out to be. In a perfect world if he was the 10th best QB he would be paid as the 10th best QB. But that is not how it works. Guys get overpaid just because it is their time to get a new contract or teams are desperate - see Vikings.
-
At his current level of play? No. If he cracks the top 10 of QB play then you overpay to keep him because it would be very difficult to replace him. Most indications are that Josh is improving in most aspects of the game. He still has a long way to go to be a top 10 guy. With the supporting cast and defense, if he keeps the turnovers down this team should win 10 games and the division even with the schedule they have.

4 games striagth against NFC wodul be awful way to start the season. That then means in the next 12 games, 6 will be against the AFC East. That is way too compressed. I'm sick of the current schedule format of playing division teams twice. Compressing it down to 12 games makes it that much worse. Get rid of the divisions and just play each team every other year. 32 games against 31 other opponents. It's not that hard to figure out

One of the most-lopsided deals I have ever seen. Bill O'Brien must think he is Belichick and can win without any skill players SDH

Will Cody Ford Be Our Starting RT Next Year?
Dadonkadonk replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes He got better as the year went on. If they let Spain walk, I can see them moving Ford to LG. It really depends on what happens with Spain and free agency. I favor putting the best 5 guys out there and don't care if Ford is at guard or RT. Best five with Spain is Ford at RT. -
What % did Josh improve from yr1 to yr2?
Dadonkadonk replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1000 more yards, 10 more TD passes and 3 fewer Interceptions That is at least 30 or 40% improvement. Yes he still has a long way to go to get to elite but that is a massive improvement in one year. -
Only one forced turnover. Pass rush was much improved. Eli is a turnover machine so I predict at least 3 INT. Run defense was good enough but had a few lapses. They need to stack the box and stop the run this week. Edmunds should probably spy Barkley the entire game. He is the Giants only weapon and when he lines up out of the backfield they should double team him with Edmunds and a DB.

I ranked them Allen, Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, and Jackson. At this point I'm not sure I would reorder them. I still think Rosen has a chance to prove himself. Unbelievably he is now on the two worst rosters in the NFL in a row. I still am not sold on Mayfield. He started well last year then tailed off. I always thought Jackson was a better passer than most of the media and this board thought. But his college completion % and low Wonderlic put him last on my list. As for Darnold - watch any game where he was rushed in the pocket and the outcome was not good. Maybe that is true of most college QBs. Right now I don't think he will be anywhere close to Carson Palmer but will probably be better than Sanchez.

If it is a 25 yard FG yes you kick it. A 52 yard kick no way. If he misses the kick they get the ball at the spot of the FG. They then only need to go about 20 yards to get in FG range and you risk losing the game. You win 99.999% of the time punting the ball there. You can't take a knee or risk an incompletion there. You should try getting the first down running as they did.

Josh Allen is a winning quarterback
Dadonkadonk replied to The Bills Blog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will know much more in 7 games. He looked good last weekend. Comp % was way up. Only a few balls that were far off target. The pick six was not on him. -
Should Shaq be starting instead of Trent Murphy?
Dadonkadonk replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been an anti-Murphy guy. But to be fair, he had a good game against the Jets. His pass rush was mostly taking wide routes around the RT. I didn't see him involved in many stunts. But he held his own in the run game and was active down the stretch making some plays. I think Lawson is a solid DE in the NFL and if people can be reasonable he should be signed to an extension. -
2nd Half Offensive Line Change
Dadonkadonk replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would play Ford 75% of the time at RT rotating with Nsekhe. Can't put Feliciano on the bench at this point. I did not think much of his signing but he was quite good today. -
Discipline Was Improved Today
Dadonkadonk replied to thronethinker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. It was a real worry of mine. The team did not quit. That has happened before with McD. But today they were pretty darn good pre-snap. Could be better - one off-sides and one delay of game averted by a TO. But all in all they looked prepared. -
It did.

The Safety. What did I miss?
Dadonkadonk replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No you didn't. No one could see where the ball was. The entire ball must get out of the endzone. To me it looked like he did, but there was no view that proved it. -
Oliver's second half play was great. Hopefully the first half was just nerves. He was creating issues up front and for the most part the edge guys had one on one matchups most of the day. If he can get penetration or command double teams consistently the pass rush is going to be so much better this year.

Clock was continually running after out of bounds plays
Dadonkadonk replied to SJDK's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No it's about forward progress. Once it is stopped the defense is not punished by the guy stepping out of bounds. -
Allen's 4th fourth quarter comeback
Dadonkadonk replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great comeback. Accuracy looks better. Decision making mostly looks better but still a work in process. We really dont know if he was making the proper reads or not. Arm is still top 3 in NFL. Two worst throws were the INT called back by penalty and the dropped INT at goal line. The pick six was not on him. The batted ball I dont know. He threw it right at the guys outstretched arms. Should have not made that throw. -
Clock was continually running after out of bounds plays
Dadonkadonk replied to SJDK's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They havent changed this rule for probably a decade. 2min in the first half, 5 min in the second half, if forward progress stopped clock runs. Refs were good today for the most part other than missing illegal man downfield on the called back Jets TD. -
Rich Gannon: not a great color guy
Dadonkadonk replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree Gannon was terrible But, the Bills have paid Star, Murphy, Hughes, J. Phillips and invested picks in Oliver and H. Phillips. That is a ton of cash and picks on the DL. -
Keep sleeping on Smoke Brown
Dadonkadonk replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is this the Jets WR? My gid Gannon was bad today -
Clock was continually running after out of bounds plays
Dadonkadonk replied to SJDK's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clock is restarted in first half until 2 min warning. Its 5 min in 4th quarter. Clock runs if players forward progress is stopped in bounds. Not fair to the defense to stop a guy only to have him go back a step and get out of bounds. I didn't see any errors. -
Free agents Brown A+ : He showed everything today. He looks like a complete true #1 WR. Maybe not elite size but speed, hands, and route running looked great. Beasley C+ : multiple catches, open frequently, two drops, no broken tackles. Morse B+: I think he was ok. Got pushed back some but all in all not bad especially for not practicing for a month. Did not play anywhere lose to highest paid center in the league but was a big improvement over last year Spain B- : Solid in run game. Big runs for Singletary were to the left. Feliciano C+: little push and silly penalty Nsekhe C- : mostly looked like the journeyman he is. Hopefully Ford steps up next week. Kroft Incomplete - I'm going to take the high road and wait to see what he brings. I didn't like the signing at the time but he battled back to make the 53 so that is ecouraging. Smith - saw him on the field but I dont recall anything good or bad Long - didn't get hurt in warmups so that is a plus Gore D- : looked slow, old, and lacking power. He didn't fumble on the final drive so I didn't give him an F Yeldon - incomplete. As ineffective Gore was I'm surprised Yeldon didn't get a few touches. Draft: Oliver B- : he got much better as the game went on. Missed a sack opportunity but he got some inside pressure late in the game Ford C- : started ok but struggled in the middle of the game. I still think he is bettet option at RT than Nsekhe but look for them to rotate often in the first 8 games Singletary B+ : had some nice runs in the second half but those were huge running lanes. Give him credit for the speed to get the chunk plays. Hands are terrible but pass protection was adequate Knox/Sweeney : C+, not bad but my bar is so low for this group.
